High heels for warriors? Seriously? Is there a script to fix this?

I plan to strut through the apocalypse in my high-heeled boots, kick butt, and not care about taking names.
(Until I break an ankle, then I may have to rethink my plan for the short term.)
Amen brother!
While I prefer heels on women, both in renders and real life, as long as there are choices I am fine with whatever anyone wants to wear (Don't tell my GF I said that, LOL ). Luckily she likes wearing heels.
Not something I would ever purchase, but glad it's there for those that want it.
Ditto! But, I'm man enough to ignore the pain of my broken ankles.
Nope, they are made by people who want to sell their products.
This has always been true.
Its still true.
It will aways be true.
I honestly believe that people have forgotten how to walk in heels. Every time I see someone walking in heels, every step forward, the heel lands first, then the toes. This is absolutely wrong.
When wearing heels, you should be walking on the balls of your feet. and it's very easy to run, jump etc. when you are only using the balls of your feet.
Soft ground? no problem, because there is no weight going on the heel.
There's an interesting topic... walking was different in the past.
Until you need to stand for 20 minutes while the group in front of you in your graduating class sits down. Ours was too big for our auditorium, so we were on the football field. I actually was one of the few girls who didn't have problems (and this was in the late 80's) because I didn't put weight on my heels.
Still think stilettos look ridiculous for warriors.
when I was young I could easily run in my stilettos
but now I wear granny shoes and clogs
...I also have trouble with them in sci fi settings. With all the starship and station floors I see which are made of slick metal and often include metal gratings, it makes me wonder about the injury and casualty rate for 3D female spacers.
Its a complaint in games, movies and here. Its not new. Not sure why people are actually surprised by this. At least when making your own art you have the ability to OPT OUT of the heels! empower yourself. I do think this subject is overdone. But I suppose there is nothing new to talk about.
I like the heels if they look good and are styling well with the rest of the outfit. I don't mind flats or wedges when they work well with the vibe of the rest of the outfit. if its a skimpy outfit specially, go for heels. If its a more modest set, go for flats or wedges. The only time I'd be caught off-guard is when the footwear clashes with the rest of the direction. Which is normally not the case.
But then again I see the packages as a whole and get the direction.
Ha, awesome. I'm gonna try walk like that.
...when I was shoppign around to use that 10$ New Year coupon, I passed on several sci fi and apocolyptic outfits that I would have bought because they had had fashion high/spike heels. Finally picked up an elf ranger type outfit that actually had "real" boots and covered the both the belly and chest completely.
I spent my $10 coupon on high heels an stockings. go figure!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
That's funny... I never realized till I was watching this video. Whenever I'm barefoot, I always walk on the balls of my feet without even thinking about it.
Don't worry, high heels will go to space when it becomes comonplace. Ship and space station flooring will adapt... Either that or else, wedge heels will become the standard high heel footware. (If you go back and watch Star Trek The Motion Picture, the female duty uniform's footware has a wedge style high heel). There could always end up being some other new craze for how heels work in space too. (For example something simmilar to a standard high heel design, but with a wider solid sole connecting the bottom of the heel and the ball of the foot.)
Who knows maybe gents will start wearing heels in the future just as they did in the past. =-) I tend to find sci-fi that apes current trends to be... rather pedestrian. The idea that what we consider sexy now wil, be the same in the future disregards thousands of years of interesting fashion trends which have diverged from the present trends.
God I hope so. Cowboy boots are all that's left.
I can safely safe Males won't wear heels in most cases. but some males will and it will be totally acceptable.
I think there is a Scifi with this. But I could be making things up.
and I can get down with that.
Lots of outfits I buy have high heels, but I don't use them, prefering my characters in flats or low heels. In fact I can't remember the last time I did a render with heels. And because we buy these sets, possibly the vendors think everyone likes high heels. I'll still buy the outfits, but when chosing shoes I only shop for practical shoes. More choice would be good.
I don't think anyone can say Males won't wear high heels, that is who they were designed for in the first place. Them being a Women thing is relatively new and the byproduct of male fashion getting narrower and narrower in western society which could easily reverse in another couple centuries.
Well considering men wore high heels first historically I think men do and can wear heels especially if they ride. Plus in sci-fi we can’t assume all males are human or follow homo sapien taboos and fashion trends.
They say the same thing in MMO! More flats!
They never come ^_^. Again at least here you have the ability to use other sets of shoes. I would do this. not hard to make the materials match.
For the record flats wouldn't stop me from buying most sets. Especially if its fantasy or scifi. Cause I don't use a fill kit in a single render often.
I encourge those concerned about options to buy the loose footwear that meets their needs to flesh out their inventories. And keep in mind flats and wedges auto-fit between generations WAY better than heels. Foot for thought. We need heels recreated to save us time trying to fix all the quirks, but flats are freebies!
Actually, that's the correct way of walking and running in general. You get more injuries if you strike with your heel.
when you are on the track team you learn to only run on the ball of you foot. Real stuff. I was county champ in the 400 meters for one season. I would know. (hahahahahahahahahahah that was nearly 200 years ago)
but yeah, wouldn't walk that way or wear heels into battle. But I love me some barbarella and fantasical stuff so I ignore fashion issues then. Cause I get it. Relax, have fun. And as an "artist" leverage options avialable as they are plenty.
But where are all the high heels for men?
I don't know about heels for men, but another solution I use (a lot) for flats for women is to autofit men's shoes. As was pointed out, Flats survive autofit better than heels, so it tends to work.
I have the Wolf King boots converted and saved for all my female figures. :)
...granted, there are more flat medieval boots characters that can be used in place of high heel footwear (and yes ones for male characters work well for females), however not so much the case for sci fi. There was one pair of nice flat Sci Fi boots that came out for the original Genesis which autofit reasonably well on later generations but they don't always fit well with some Sci Fi suit and armour content due to styling of the leggings.
Look at HighHeelZZ for M4 over at renderotica.
There's some apparent confusion regarding "high heels" here. Men did not "historically" wear "high" heels as properly defined being 3" or more. Men wore a 2" heel at most. That is not "high".
And yes, stilettos are absolutely laughable even in fantasy combat settings, whether it's outer space or Skyrim. However, the "cowboy" 1-2" heel is both practical and stylish for men and women. It's the super-flat slipper-style boots that bother me. Then again, the visual appeal is more about the angled foot pose and the high calf bulge more than the actual peg sticking out of the heel, so as long as you know where the Bend slider is, the spike itself is inconsequential.
As for shoes that hurt women's feet - many women will buy a pair of shoes that are too small if they can't find their correct size if said shoes are "too cute to pass up" and will endure the hammer toe and heel spurs and other ailments, and I find that level of vanity to be quite disturbing.
I wear moccasin boots to the ren faire. They're great for dealing with the uneven, tree-root strewn ground. My dad had a custom pair of Windwalker moccasins for the same reason, it was easier on his feet. Granted, in both cases there is/was a 1/4" heel. But otherwise they were pretty flat.
Personally, I don't buy too small shoes if they're "too cute" I sigh and look for something else. Granted, too small generally isn't a problem (though too narrow is) since my feet are at that wonderful point where kid sizes transition to adult sizes. (So I often can't find the shoe style I want in my size because they don't stock enough that are that small.) My daughter has the same problem. I will wear shoes I know will give me blisters, but only when I have no other choice and do my best to minimize them (including wearing stockings in warm weather) but otherwise really prefer my shoes to be at least moderately comfortable.
