Time for me to reboot my computer to clean these files from my computer. Maybe I should use an Apple Macintosh computer to browse the internet.
I am waiting for my taxi inside but sitting near a window. It is cold out. Here it is.
Temp got up to a high today of 10F. Haven't opened door. Just looked out at the thermometer and snow on the porch and decided to leave it there.
I was misremembering about Freecell, the other popular Windows solitaire. I get wanting to blame the hand, I sure did. :D
Snowed in and busying myself today fixing a sick Win10 machine. One of my own.
All of a sudden it just started flashing screen about every 5 seconds and when I reboot it would display message "cannot start remote desktop..." ??? Scary! I tried all of Win10's wonderful fix-it utilities, like "Reset", and "Repair" and even "Restore" from both backup and from system image, all to no avail. I ran diagnostics that were fat dumb and happy. My personal files are on a separate disk so I'm not worried and besides that machine is mostly a test machine anyway. Nothing critical on it. Finally gave up and used Win10-Home DVD to rebuild from scratch after re-formatting the "C:" drive. Took hours to finish the updating!
Finally after the last automatic upgrade I was all ready to login and there was nothing on the screen.
Finally figured out that when the system finally got all of its software installed it switched the primary video output to the HDMI cable despite it being connected to my TV and not selected for viewing, leaving the DVI cable monitor just staring blankly at me. That wasted a good hour of reboots and head scratching.
Finally figured it out and all seems well now. I think that computer is flakey. It's an old Vista machine upgraded to Win7 and then to Win8 and finally Win10 and the hardware is nearly 10 years old, but it does have a dual-core CPU, 8GB RAM, a modern Nvidea graphic card and new 1TB storage. Worked fine under Win7 but the Win10 on it has always been a little flakey. It wigs out now and then.
Picture below is my "Network Cockpit".
My hands and feet are dry. Well the skin is dry.
Great. Just great. Now I have to fire up the oven and bake a Red Velvet Cake. Thanks a bunch. :)
CMS does not want to start today complaint/
Is that a comfy chair? Where can I find one?
I'm sitting in one I ordered online, BIG mistake.
Never order furniture online, you won't know if you like it
until it's assembled, and then you can't return it.
Part of me wants to study the inside of my eyelids but the other part of me still has enough coffee in me not to want to do that.
...yeah I remembered that, back in 2013 I believe, when Andrew Price (the "Blender Guru") porpoised a major overhaul of the UI to make it much more friendlier to newcomers. I watched his entire vid series on the project as we extremely excited, until it was shot down in flames (not just figuratively) by the community during the Blender Conference that year.
...will somebody fix the dictionary in the spell checker so it actually suggests the proper corrections to common typos like "teh"/"hte" ("the" ) and "whne" ("when")?
...homemade burritos tonight. (made a big enough batch for 4 dinners). Dead bird in yellow curry with rice for tomorrow.
...nice setup.
I'm getting there. Second desktop on the way (16 GB). Main system to get 24 GB and a bigger primary drive, once the other one arrives so I can get online for troublehooting purposes during the full update. It will also get a 2.93 GHz 6 core Westmere Xeon upgrade as well, four more threads should help a bit in the rendering dept. Next, need to order that backlight element for the old notebook. Still also need one of those high back "command chairs".
...I've been having trouble with it since installing the 4.9 beta.
...found one about a month ago at a second hand store in excellent shape. They only wanted 15$ for it. If I had a car to get it home, I'd be sitting in it now. Not wanting to order one online but see no other way to have one delivered without havng to pay a fortune at some office supply store.
...did that until late morning myself.
Yes. I love this chair. I don't know the manufacturer without looking up the receipt but I got it at Office Max on sale. It is one of their better chairs. I'd seen it and tested it in the store for months and drooled over it. It has a five point base instead of just four, it has arm width and arm height adjustments. It has seat tilt, back tilt and seat height adjustment. Is rated to support 250 pounds (I'm about 230#), and it's plenty wide enough for me. I looked a long time for a replacement to my old cheap chair that got wobbly and finally popped its pneumatic seat support.
. So, when I saw this one on sale for $100 off I bit the bullet and bought it as my self-birthday present two years ago. It is of course not real leather (sigh) it is "bonded leather" (which is to leather as plywood or particle board is to wood) but feels nice and there's plenty of padding. However it does suffer from planned obsolescence (like most things these days). It's two years old now and already the inner sides of the two arm pads have developed a 1 inch crack in the material.
But the stitching has held nicely and it looks great, and is very comfortable once I got all the adjustments just the way I like them.
Ah, found my owner's manual and a web page https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/494164/Realspace-MFMC400-Bonded-Leather-Multifunction-Managerial/?cm_mmc=PLA-_-Google-_-Chairs_Seating-_-494164-VQ6-51194688356-VQ16-c-VQ17-pla-VQ18-online-VQ19-494164-VQ20-75212232356-VQ21--VQ22-624116545-VQ27-10575763676&mrkgcl=1104&mrkgadid=3115158961&rkg_id=h-7d4c935602be1d0934d4fd4f4f636913_t-1515296287&adpos=1o1&creative=51194688356&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwtTEvvbE2AIVAoGzCh3SAggUEAYYASABEgI_SfD_BwE
Go to the office supply store and find one you like, then get on their website and order it. Or Newegg.
Thank you. I had to replace my old microfibre-covered one when the wheels fell off. Literally. I can't find a replacement, the MF upholstery was so comfortable when wearing shorts.
I'm looking at yours now...
...those cost a lot more than 15$. Remember I am on a fairly tight fixed income.
Where can you find one online for $15?
Or am I misunderstanding?
...In my earlier post I mentioned I recently found a really nice full back office chair for 15$ at a second hand shop that was in excellent condition. The trouble is at these places the buyer is responsible for transporting it. I don't have a car nor drive, and it would have been just a bit unwieldy and dsruptive to take home on the bus or tram.
As luck will have it, the price came down $90 overnight!
Get yourself down to OfficeMax or OfficeDepot (actually the same company) and test it.
I noticed on the web page for that chair that there is a link to another suggested but higher priced and bigger name (Serta) chair. But it hasn't got half the adjustments and doesn't even admit what the material covering is.
I like my chair despite just now discovering that only my seat is "Bonded Leather", which explains why my arm covers are cracking, they're probably "Pleather" (plastic leather) But the cracks are quite minor and non-intrusive because it's just the insides which flexes considerably and is forced to bend acutely in a short distance when I rest my arm on them. The arm top and outside are just fine, as is the seatback covering and bonded leather seat which show no distress at all.
Practicing with the new dFormer. Samuel is normally a neat freak and would never just leave a shirt draped over the couch, but I couldn't resist trying out the draping effect. The yoga pants also have the dformer on, which fixed some puffing at the ankles that had been bugging me.
Okay. Glad I am not the only one having that problem
Daddy likes to say that he likes to study the inside of his eyelids. I finally did that and it was fun.
yuk.
Although it was plenty cold enough first day back; i was first in, i turned both heaters on, and left my coat on.
I took it off reluctantly a couple of hours later.
Sleep does that I've noticed.
I feel for ya.
I'm on a backup pc, well the MB, RAM and CPU; I installed it after removing the new components.
Second time in about 3 months I've had nearly 60,000 errors on a memtest; I'm tempted to believe it isn't purely a RAM issue. Scan (who I bought it from) are currently figuring out what is wrong.
... So far, it's definitely RAM, but...
