High heels for warriors? Seriously? Is there a script to fix this?
Am I the only one that finds high heels on the female warriors ridiculous. I don't mind the skimpy clothes because, you know, a girls got to do what a girls got to do, and maybe she just can not afford full armor, or maybe that is not what her tribe does, or maybe she is going for the distraction element.... but the high heels drive me mad. Not on the modern character, since it is plausible that she is 'blending in'. But really a tribal character or medieval one in heels is ludicrous. I often love the boots they are attached to but I have not figured out how to easily get rid of that heel. Is there a morph or script or something out there that I need?
I'm sure I'm not the only one that needs this fix but I could not find the thread for it.

No, you're not the only one, that discussion pops up quite regularly on the forums.
And no, there's no script to transform high-heels into flat heels, and unless the creators provided a morph for that, an alternate geometry or a separate pair of flat heels then you're stuck with the heels.
Omg! Really? I guess I can flat foot her then hide the heel and add a heel in photoshop but that's just so time consuming. Maybe I should add this to the wish list thread.
As a side note, when I told my husband that I could not find a way to fix this he laughed. Said that men must be the ones making these and that men love heels. I told him it was not always about being sexy. lol
Nope.
They seem popular, but I make a point of not buying em.
But sometimes I really love the outfit they come with, and the bootleggers are so cool. If only they had a flat foot version. I wonder if I could make a morhp and put up the file for free. They would still need to buy the product but could have an easy way of converting it. Honestly I see a market here for someone industrious enough to create the morphs.
Really :(
The main options available are either not to show the feet in your render, use more sensible footwear from another set if you have some and can get it to match the style, or try modifying the heels yourself using a modeller.
I'd really love to see female footwear have flat and heel morphs. Do women actually love wearing heels? Most of my female friends prefer wearing flats.
A morph might not always work as there may not be enough polygons to work with, besides textures will get distorted due to the changes. So sometimes the only real solution is to create alternate geometry and alternate textures, which means a lot of work.

You'll have to grab another set of boots and match the color and/or texture using shaders.
I've done that with dresses and shoes- use the same shader on both and suddenly it looks like a set.
Shaders are a great bandaid and secret weapon. lol
Ayup, the question does come up quite regularly.
I suppose it depends on what you're doing, but for many doing fantasy, dragons, fairies, elves, orcs, goblins, etc are all good then heels are too much?
I was just going through my fantasy clothes library for G3F yesterday, seems there's quite a bit with no heels. As a guy... BOO! Flat shoes are ugly.
ETA: Hexagon is free now, I suppose you could hide the heel then alter the geometry for a morph with that or another editor. As long as you're not zoomed in on the foot, could probably get away with something good enough without too much difficulty.
That argument makes me cringe every time... Just because your pic is set in a world where magic and dragons exist doesn't means walking in woods or fighting in spike heels is practical or even credible...
Where's your imagination? Guess you never played D&D. Bags of holding with almost limitless storage, girdles of giant strength, rings of charisma, etc... I guess I could conjure up some "Sexy-fine High Heeled Boots of Effortless Travel."
Or she could simply be an Illusionist, a gal that likes her flat boots, but casts an illusion upon them for the charisma bump.
So in doing a FANTASY scene we're concerned about PRACTICAL?
High heels on hot girls are mandatory. No exceptions. I'm sure there's a universal law written somewhere. Hold on I'll google it....
While I find heals maybe an issue for fantasy outfits where it does get ridiculous if how many of the outfits leave the midriff bare, for all to see and enemies to get stabby with.. Very much impractical if the character is a melee fighter..
Yay, I'm now the old man saying "Not this topic again!"
1) I agree, shoes and boots would be nice if the had heely and flat versions.....
2) And if they figured out how to make the feet/shoe poses match the feet better across different generations of characters since auto-fit and the rest do not work.
Try to search google for "high heels damage feet"...
Oh I'm sure one could find various magical explanations of how she manages to do it despite the heels... That wouldn't make them less ridiculous in my eyes. I mean, I can't even walk in heels like that on hard flat ground, so I'd definitely break my ankle if I tried to fight or walk on uneven ground with those ;)
(btw, I've played quite a bit of console RPGs, so I'm familiar with those kind of items)
You may not, but I am.
Fantasy simply means that there are things which don't exist in the real world. If you want to define your fantasy world as somewhere where practicality is not a problem, that's fine, it doesn't mean I have to.
There need to be more shoes and boots in the store that are built like esha's patchwork shoes series.
Patchwork Shoes: Sandals 1 & 2 for Genesis 3 Female(s) and Genesis 8 Female(s)
Patchwork Shoes 3
Patchwork Shoes 4
There is nothing wrong with using high heels if you like their look and don't find them jarring.
There is nothing wrong with wanting flat heels if you don't like high heels or find them jarring.
Please respect others' views and taste even as you state your wishes.
I agree, it's great system.
They like them, but consider them painful to wear :) Some can run in em, but many feel that is asking for a broken ankle or worse. Female friends I've asked about, but most don't bother except for special occasions (which don't include marital arts and other forms of combat).
As a guy too, I love tall females ( 6.3' tall myself), but I don't like (mostly) high heels....just to make a statement
P.S. And no, I don't want to start another 'Why don't the PA make more...xyz ?' discussion
That's the great part about 3D ladies... their feet don't hurt wearing heels!
They also don't complain about the chainmail bikinis barely covering anything or exposed midriffs & worrying about getting stabbed...
you can always repose the foot in them flat
hide the heel with the geometry editor
I've said it before regarding the "Fantasy" of impractical footwear and why that is what breaks my suspension of disbelief.
I've worn heels. I've worn heels on soft ground. I know what happens when spike heels meet turf. Therefore this is not "fantasy" This is my own experience. Therefore when I see fantasy outfits with spike heels, I scoff, because I know how impractical they are for what the ladies are doing. It is because of my experiences with high heels on soft ground that I find that to be the tipping point.
Heck, there's an entire movie and Tony award winning musical about how women's heels can't support the weight of men in drag.
And I've been playing table top RPG's for over 30 years. Including 1st edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. I've worn those spike heels with costumes at conventions. And I still think they're ridiculous.
Now, as to what I do with them, I usually swipe boots from another outfit, if I can. Sometimes I'll swap in completely different slacks too. I make proliffic use of scaling and d-formers to get things to fit.
I don’t render a lot of women so I can afford to be discerning and not pick up skimpwear. I have nothing against skimpwear for either gender but since scantily clad women are visually boring to me I just pass on buying it and most especially if it contains windows of bare flesh or impractical footwear.
Was there a release lately that triggered this?
I think it just might be one of those perennial ticklers like "what is art?" LOL. I agree with most of what's been said about midriffs being exposed and high heels for fighting women, but I've also learned that the vendors will make what they will make. If I don't like it, I just don't buy it ;) Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see what I would like tho :P
