    One of my Grandads would skin out or fillet just about anything with fins, fur or feathers that he caught or his friends brought him. My Granny would then cook it for him. Pretty much everything was tasty, but I have to say I never developed a taste for possum.

    Old joke:
    How many hillbillies does it take to eat a possum?
    Two.
    One to eat while the other one watches for traffic.

    (I come from a long line of hillbillies, so it's OK if'n I make fun of 'em)

    Granny's vittles included the following:
    The aforementioned unlucky possum
    groundhog
    soft-shelled turtle
    squirrel
    bear
    rattlesnake
    carp

    and the more conventional:
    rabbit
    deer
    wild hog
    goat
    lots of fish

    Granny also made the best fried chicken I've ever had, and pan-fried dried apple turnovers fried in Pure Lard. People used to fry with lard. It came from the grocery store in a red bucket.
    Ooohhh...this old diabetic would love to have just one more of my Granny's fried apple pies. :)
    They took up almost half of a small iron skillet, and were larapin' good, :)

    YEP!! We def kin to each other some were some when tjohn. Way to much in common. I have not had a fried Apple fritter/pie in a LONG time myself. Seems all the old folks knew how to make them puppies.

    It seems that poo coffee has expanded bizniz.

    Not only there's that rare coffee made out of coffee beans that have been passed through the guts of a palm civet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kopi_Luwak), but there's also coffee made out of beans that elephants ate and then crapped out (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Ivory_coffee).

    I have stupidly managed to lose my copies, must have somehow got left behind in the move. I am very upset about it, as I had them for years, were a present from my Dad. I know I can replace them, but it won't be the same.

    Sad for you. I value those things that my Dad gave to me. Now that's he's gone, looking at them makes me happy and sad all at once.

    I'm going to make another pot of coffee, light a real cigarette, and take a break from stupid for a bit.

    For a little while I was stuck with this avatar. I uploaded as PNG, and tried to upload a different avatar as PNG. The cache didn't clear out for me, but it showed correct for everybody else (while all I saw was Dumbass). Anyway, I switched to JPG, and got the current one up and running. The signature banner works as well.
