    so for some time, this Forum Thread will probably be a teaser thread

    the old mcjWarp plugin for DS 3 still exists over here -> https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts/mcjwarp-plugin-for-ds3-pc

    ---

    why did i start the thread? because 3 minutes ago i was surprised
    to see that after working 30 minutes on the program i was able to
    compile the plugin for DS4.5 ( 32 bit for now )

    now i'm a bit scared to try it, but if it works it means mcjWarp would work for DS4.5
    on objects like primitives and imported .OBJs and on whole zero-posed figures

    i think i'll record my first attempt :)

    ok lets see it :-)

    attempt number 1 didn't injure lab personnel but the mcjWarp node refused to work because it thought the primitive plane was a subD, and mcjWarp is afraid of subDs

    attempt number 2 : the mcjWarp's viewTool is created but is supposed to be sticking in front of the camera, but it's not

    another issue is that i didn't use the old mcjWarp in months, so i have to read my manual, which is like asking a man to use a map or stop and ask directions, to himself

    ( no crash though )

    but but but i have some show-me to show you !

    here's mcjWarp running in DS4.5

    please note that DS4.5 is not crashed, there aint even smoke coming out of it

    also, you can see we have a nice mcjWarp Tool panel with buttons, bells and whistles

    there's also the tiny little square panel floating above the primitive-plane

    but it should be glued to our mouse pointer and it's not

    maybe tomorrow tomorrow https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&v=GZ5DORLwJY0&NR=1

    you can bet your bottom dollar that it will probably work but then again maybe not

    minute improvement
    i discovered i needed to install a bunch of little images that came with mcjWarp for DS3
    the hurdle to pass is that the ViewTool doesn't get ::activated() and is not kept informed about mouse movements
    ----
    i can "talk" to my viewTool but it doesn't seem to react, or it's unable to talk to the panel (talk to the wand!)

    vpmgr = MainWindow.getViewportMgr();
    vt = vpmgr.getActiveTool();
    debug( vt.name );
    vt.deactivated();
    vt.activated()

    yes there will be a 64 but version it just takes 20 seconds to make once the 32 bit version works

    i develop on the 32 bit version because it seems to be more stable

    This will be a great addition to DS4.5. Thanks for your efforts and while I'm here thanks also for your many great items.

    some things started working, now the ViewTool goes through the activation process, and it's doing part of its job, not sculpting yet but it does create and add a morph to the test subject

    we be sculptin soon !

    ( though for now it's for objects or zero-posed complete figures

    note that this time around i'd like to add painting , maybe rubber-stamping to mcjWarp

    ( so we could draw clothes outlines on characters then improve them in PaintShop

    or draw something on their skin like tattoos

    or draw Jack Skellingtons on t-shirts

    well just normai 3d painting, say, spray-painting

    not real-time-bump-map painting

    but one will be able to paint something that can later be used as a bump or displacement map

    that would still be flipping cool :) If you could enable it for Ptex, even better :)

    big news !!

    mcjWarp, the version i gave you, already works on posed figures !

    see below, i loaded the Genesis Journeyman pants, posed the figure, used mcjWarp to grow that bump

    well how about that

    i'll re-read my code and see how i did it, i thought it was based on the bone transforms (rotations, position, scale) but apparently it's .... oh ok i stop here

    note: you must select the entire (root node) figure before creating the mcjWarp

    that pretty much completes mcjWarp's upgrade to DS4.5

    i'll steal my code from it and transfer it to mcjLattice

    ----

    maybe the 3D-Paint plugin will be a separate thing
