What is the best way to parent G3F weapons to G8F

The title says it all. I have some firearm models that are parented props. What would be the best way to set up and save as G8 parented props. Right now the pose matches but due to the difference between the A pose & T pose the gu b s are 45 degrees off.

When I updated a recent product to include G8F presets I did this:

Load G3F from library.  Hide, but leave in the scene.

Load G8F from library.  Pose the arms to match G3F.  Their meshes are nearly the sames shape, it's literally a 45 degree bend difference.

Select hidden G3F in the scene tab.

Load the smartprop.  It is now correctly positioned.

Find the smartprop on G3F's hand.  Reparent it to G8F's hand.

Reset G8 to default pose.  Now the smartprop is parented to G8 and is in the right position.  If it came with a hand pose apply the hand pose to G8, it should still work fine.

Save to the library.  If it originally came with a hand pose, save as a Wearables, not a prop.

  • Thanks SickkeYield, that is exactly what I needed. You always come through with needed help.

I've had a number of props jump out the hand when applying the hand pose after parenting the prop. I've made it a habit to apply the hand pose first, then parent the prop to G8. Other than that, my workflow is the same as SY's, having picked it up from her clothing conversion tutorial.

    Totally agree.
