Lord of the bears.... for G2M?!

So, I've got use for a good anthro bear such as released today.  But G2M? Really?  We're already on G8M, how well does this thing hold up?  How well does it transfer to, say, G3F? (using appropriate morph kits)  Does it come in polar bear?

  • and why can’t you use G2M?

I am actually heartened to see Genesis 2 can still get new products

you can at least use all the aniblocks etc with Genesis 2 and below so it will never be obsolete for me

I think it's pretty great that they've released a new product for Genesis 2. Goes to show they might realize a large part of their customer base still uses it ;). I have Genesis 1-Genesis 8 and still use them all depending on what I want and what I'm doing.

me too I was happy to see g2m still supported . Not everyone uses daz studio for their projects, or can use genesis3 in other software. I'll support g2 items all day long

Oh BTW thanks daz for the $5 discount for filling out the survey. I used it today to add to the dicounts for my purchases

He's been around since this whole Poser/DS  thing got started and is very talented and a really nice guy. I think the character (both versions) look great and if you don't want to buy you don't have to.

Nice to see something from someone that cares about Poser users to some degree.

Since I have projects which will involve using Poser with VUE, I am happy to see new G2 products.   Does not look like G3 or above is going to usable with this combo, even with the workarounds.  Can't use DAZ studio with VUE except by exporting and importing static figures in another format.  I will pick up the Bear guy today, he will be useful.

    Thanks, GhostOfMacbeth!

He's still around because he's Ghost of Macbeth. When I first discovered Poser, he was already a respected figure. There aren't many people as talented or as helpful. He has always made some of the best shapes. It's a name I've always looked up to. No one does traditional, hardboiled, masculinity as well as he does.

I think the comment was on the perception of Daz culling older content/PAs, not on the quality of GoM's set or how welcome it is.

  • I've been buying G2 stuff for background characters or non-main characters for my story, depending on the skin and materials you can get them to look really good.

Richard you read my mind, thats exactly what I was getting at :)

  • So, how required is the human version to run the transformed version?  It's just a morph, so it should work fine without it, right?

It's my understanding that, in most cases, it's the PA that makes the decision to remove items from their store, not DAZ. There may be exceptions, though.

  • G2M is still by far my favorite for male characters. Really glad that someone is still making stuff for them.  Really sad that I have zero budget to show my appreciation with a purchase because I would definitely snag him up in a heartbeat.

GF2 is a denser mesh than the newer figures. With the ability to use GF3 skins on GF2 I still use her quite a bit.

I have been around for a while. I have a day job and life sometimes gets in the way. That was the case with this set.

  • And for those that are glad that I released for Genesis 2 Male, I am glad I could help.

I am not sure how well it would transfer to the newer figures since it is an HD morph. The textures would work with the convertor kit that is in the Daz store, as would the basic shapes.

The transformed version would work most of the way without the base shape but it wouldn't be as cool and there are a couple of textures (eyes and mouth) that would need to be swapped out.

The content is new, just released. It may be for older figures, but it is new content.

And if "older PA's" were culled just for being "older PA's", we wouldn't have Stonemason, Faveral, Ghost of Macbeth, Cris Palamino, me...

Wow, really? I don't use the older characters, but I respect that a lot of people still do. To disparage a talented PA simply because they create content for a figure that you don't, personally, use - it's pretty gross.

If you don't like the content, don't buy it. But don't be rude or hateful toward people who A) Still use G2 figures and B) PAs with talent who are thoughtful enough to still create content for these people even though it would probably make them more money to create content with the newer figures.

I for one am thankful for Daz for taking a chance on content for an older figure. They didn't have to take a chance on it.

Those who still use G2 content should consider stepping up and purchasing it - to send Daz a message with your wallet. :)

You did a fantastic job with that set! Lovely work and I'm happy that you create content for G2 still, as I know lots of people still use that figure. Keep up the great work and please don't listen to the naysayers. :)

    Thanks for supporting G2! Out of VM3, VM4, G1, G2, G3, (I dont use G8),  I still use G2FM the most. Good for you!
