Trying to Give V7 Pale Skin

Which shader setting(s) do I need to adjust to give V7 pale skin? Her default mats don't look right when I make her a redhead.

It's easiest to just use an V4 texture plus V4 to G3F templates from somewhere if you have BlackSmith3D's Texture Transformer or their BlackSmith3D Pro program. Sorry I don't know if the standard version can do the texture remapping from V4 to GF3. Those are at Rendo. At Rendo there are some good ones going by the name of London, Dublin, and such. There are also some at DAZ. After conversion you still need to convert them to iRay and apply shader setting from another human iRay product to the Surfaces or makeup you own using the guide from AndyS (moniker in these forums) at his DeviantArt site (based on the DAZ Forum thread Comons - Fiddling with iRay Settings - a lot of good collective work AndyS collated on his DeviantArt site from that thread).
If you want to make the V7 skin appear pale as you can without editing textures just surfaces choose white for the translucency color and dial down the strength of the translencency color channel to 0.05 or 0.01. If you make it 0.0 then that means no translucency at all and you should get a render that is the color of the diffuse map before rendering. So if you like the color of a diffuse map and want that then dial down the translucency color to 0.0 for the most part.
Then make the glossy reflectivity about 0.6 and the Glossy Roughness about 0.8. Lower varlue will make look oily to sweatly on those so play with them as appropriate for the scene.
Finally if you have the Painter's Lights (j. cade) or BOSS Lights (The Pholosopher) or similar bought from the DAZ 3D Store that will take you the rest of the way although
I don't know how far you can push V7's skin from the diffuse base but looking at the diffuse base map it looks to be pale enough for most purposes.
You can try my custom shader (attached). It's my favorite shader. I hope you like it! :)
Just drop the attached files in your My Library >> Presets >> Materials folder.
..if you want to make your own custom skins, Skin Builder Pro 3 is an excellent tool. You can even give your characters freckes, age spots, moles, custom brows, lashes and vascularity with it.. I've created the perfect freckled skin for my ginger haired Leela as well as a very accurate albino skin for my namesake, KK.
Before you do anything else, try changing Translucency Weight to 0.15.
Try the simplest thing before anything else. You can try tints later.
Here's V7 "out of the box" on the left, on the right is her with my shader applied.
VERY... NICE... hella good timing, too. I just bought a copy 65% off.
Thanks!
There's always Photoshop or GIMP, too. It's pretty easy to lighten a skin and desaturate a little to make convincingly pale options.
@divamakeup
Sadly, every time I try your shaders or see an example, they have a greenish- gray tint. This is on two calibrated monitors that are also used for photo processing,
Ah thanks for the heads up. I was wondering why when I try to share my shaders people just complately ignore me. Not nice to go out of your way to try and help people and then just get ignored. I guess if the shaders look like crap to others, then I guess that's why... lol The shaders look good on my monitor, but I probably need to calibrate my monitor. I haven't done a color calibration in ages.
Thanks for the heads up. I guess I know now why I always get ignored. lol
Sorry... for the record, they look slightly greenish-grey to me, too.
I can use Skin Builder to learn how to create my own skins, but for my immediate needs, this worked perfectly. Thanks!
What about now? Is it still greenish-grey?
That is much better.
Good deal. Thanks, barbult. :)
Attached is the updated shader, if anyone is interested. If not, oh well, at least I tried. lol
Just a clarification - that file is not a shader; it is a material preset.
Oh sorry, yes, you're right. One can use it as a shader though as if you hold down control and double click it you can tell it to "ignore images" and apply the settings to any G3 or G8 character. :)
Don't let it bother you ;). It'll happen a lot. Most ppl will download and say nothing, a small percentage (usually the same people all the time...lol) will say thanks. Just give it away and not require or expect a thank you or for acknowledgement and you'll be a much happier person :P

Just would be nice to know if your time and engery is appreciated. If it's not and no one likes what I share then I am only wasting everyone's time, my own included. :) lol It's not that I want or need a pat on the back or kudos, I share because I want to share and try and help because I enjoy helping. However if what I'm doing isn't helping anyone then it stands to reason that I guess I shouldn't waste people's time. :) I'm not saying that to be mean or rude or anything, and I hope no one takes it that way. I just don't want to waste anyone's time. :) I know what I like and I know what I, personally, think looks cool. However I've long known that I'm odd. lol
Oh, I generally try to remember to thank soon as I download although I don't always remember too. I generally don't remember to post a render using or even get around to using most freebies or bought products for that matter and when I consider I CPU render it's a wonder I get hardly any progress, which I don't. At least not nearly as quick as would be possible with a nVidia GPU to quicken the learning curve with regards to rendering.
This. I usually set the Translucency Color and Transmitted Color (all the way to the bottom) to white. See comparison render for result. You can produce a lot of different skin tones from normal to pale by changing the Translucency Color between white and the one that comes with V7.
V7 walking in the garden, pale enough.
@divamakeup "What about now? Is it still greenish-grey? "
Much better. Just looks on the pale ("Nordic") end to me. Which I take to be intentional.
Good deal. I'm glad it looks better. Thanks! :) He did ask for pale skin. lol
Thank you @divamakeup!
No issues or argument from me. Just letting you know what I see given I mentioned tint before. Skin looks pretty natural, just someone with naturally fair complexion that doesn't go out without some sun protection.
You're welcome! :) I hope it's helpful!
