I might finally be able to use G8F soon.  What freebies are out there for her?  Is it true G3F clothing works?

Also I am on a budget, so what are the needed items to purchase for her?  Or what can I convert from older models?

I did just order a new computer. Not my dream machine but best my budget would do.  It should run DAZ Studio as it is newer than my netbook and it might do iRay as it has 64 bit Windows.

edit added G8M to see if there is anything free for him yet.

I have a bracelet so far on ShareCG but I have another bangle and a pair of earrings working currently (the bracelets are already done - just need to finish the G3F versions). I also plan to convert some of the stuff I've already done for G3F when I'm inspired to ;). There are some poses, a few clothes and things in the freestuff at ShareCG and Rendo as well.

So far I've had very good luck with autofitting stuff to g8, from v4 items all the way up to g3.  Including genesis pieces that I was never able to fit to g3 at all.

Lots of stuff works - even footwear - although they can have issues.

I created a lot and transferred a lot of morphs, but that is my main issue with G8 - there are nowhere near enough morphs yet. I'll consider buying other stuff when there are sufficient morphs available.

Well... I don't know about "free," but all of the G3F material presets work on G8F, (except for the DAZ "7" figures,) so you will have as many skin/makeup/eyes options as you have G3F characters. (Tip: Be sure to select both the G8F model and the G8F eyelashes, and then apply the full material preset.)

You can extend those materials by creating shape morphs of some or all of your G3F characters. Check out the Morphs from G3 to G8 thread. Be sure to use the latest tutorial from Redz: Redz's Tutorial for Adding Clones to G8... This will take you through the steps to create a G2F clone for G8F, a G8F clone for G2F, (these clones are needed to create the shape morphs,) and then show you how to create the shape morphs. Though the tutorial uses G2F, you can substitute any Genesis model, including G3F.

G3F wardrobe items will auto-fit to G8F, but using auto-fit often means losing some of the build in options. A better way to use G3F clothing on G8F is presented in this Convert Clothing G3 to G8, G8 to G3 tutorial from Sickleyield. It works on both clothing and hair. And she includes a section on fitting high-heeled shoes, as well, which don't work so good using auto-fit.

G3F poses can work on G8F with a little help from this free script, G3F to G8F Pose Adjust, that will make changes to the arms and legs to compensate for the difference between the T-pose of G3 and the A-pose of G8.

I'm sure there will be more threads here and elsewhere that can help you make the most of what you already have. (I've even put together a tutorial on how to convert DAZ "7" figures' materials to use with G8F. Though I'm still adding in images, all the steps are there. You can find my tutorial here, if that interests you.)

ETA: Just saw your post about the computer. I'm sorry that fell through. sad But maybe soon, a better deal will come along, and you'll see this one falling through as blessing in disguise! I hope so, anyway.

I've converted one of the 7 textures at least and it doesn't take long.

and if you'd want to try G8F in carrara, could try this freestuff

    Brow Remover works on G8

NGS 2 works on G8, just use G3 settings

You will need a G3 to G8 pose converter sooner or later, either the one by Zev0 or Bone Doctor

EJ Vera character comes with a genital morph, some very useful zero poses, and a bikini set

Depending on what you want to render either the jeans megapack or the fantasy wardrobe pack

And the female head and body morphs

I made a character morph for G8F, it was sculpted in ZBrush so no other morphs or G8F add-ons needed, just the base Genesis 8 Female. Here's the morph:

I have some other G8F freebies coming soon as well.

  • Here is two Excellent Free downloads for G8F,

One is the Skin Texture and the other is the morphs.

I personally think the skin textures could have been sold on the market. They are that good, Glad they are free.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but that head morph looks very awkward from the side (jawbone). Texture is okay, though.

As someone mentioned somewhere, you can copy the G3 "Anatomical Elements" morphs to G8 and they still work, which is nice.

Thank you for all the links, btw. :)

I've just started making clothes for G8F. You can find them on my website, also for the other Generation males and females, all free!

Good news I hope I got DS running on my old netbook which might mean a Genesis 8 female render on the way.   Now I am upset I returned Victoria 8, but will wait till I can get her pro bundle.  Is it still true got to get the pro bundle to get her something?

If by "something" you mean the "anatomical elements"... Yes. You still need to get the pro bundle for those. If G8 is like the previous generations, though, it doesn't have to be V8. All the adult females should have her "something"...

Just did a render with the elf head...wow...very cool...a nice departure from the faery look.  She still has some of the pixie thing going on...but I know this sounds silly....more "realistic" in a way...or possibly, like her own race, rather than just a young girl with pointy ears.  She's pretty...But, it's her own pretty...if that makes any sense.

Great image.  I have that character as well and agree....she is different.  :)  Right now all the characters (except Benita) seem to have the "Genesis 8/Victoria 8 flavor" to them.  I can look at them as immediately tell they are Genesis 8.  I have been using Daz Studio for over a decade....(version 1.3)....I am really impressed when someone can come up with a more unique character.

    Genesis 8 male is out!

    sad

Have you considered building one yourself? That usually knocks a huge percentage off the price, even more if you snag used parts.
