"Daz Studio Application has stopped working" at end of render

I have been tearing my hair out over this.  In one particular render I have been repeatedly trying to do, it apparently gets ALL the way to finishing the render, but before it can hand off control to the render window such that I can type in the name I want to save the image out under... "Daz Studio Application has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  This is with buttons offering me to [Debug] or to [Close program]

This is really bizzare because another view from elsewhere in the same scene renders without a hitch.  The one that renders fine does so in maybe 10 minutes or less, and is with the camera placed out several feet away from the character in the scene..  (And the scene is literally just a character and a tiny handful of props, with nothing behind them but empty alpha-space.)  The render that crashes DS has the camera moved in much closer to the character, along more or less line of sight from where the other camera is placed, with the camera pointed closely upon what the character is sitting on, but for some reason this shot also has a very much higher render time.  Twice today I ran that render and it went for exactly 2 hours... and then DS crashed.  I then reduced ithe render time down by changing the light source from being the camera headlamp (which was giving a really washed out look to the shot) to being a linear point light placed roughly were the farther out camera is placed.  That new version went for just over an hour before it completed the render... and then DS crashed with the same error.

What in tarnation is going on here?  oO

Remember that in Iray a Linear Point Light is just a point light.

As for why you wold be getting a crash like this, I don't know - but as long as you don't restart DS after the crash you shpould be able to recover the file, from C:\Users\YOU\AppData\Roaming\Daz 3D\Studio 4\Temp\Render, as a file named r.png.
