No problems here - I got the 10% discount but didn't take it and the price in the cart is $59.52.
Is it possible you got logged out somehow? Even if you are logged in, you could try logging out and logging back in again... (Unless you've already tried that...)
And btw it expires 22/6 at midnight so even if there are problems there should be enough time to fix them.
well I just checked my messages and apparently now get 20% off as have two pro bundles was 10% before as the Carrara one did not count, still unsure I want her though
If all else fails you could just purchase it and then get a refund for the difference (take a screenshot of the message in your account to document your discount %).
You should have if you have a yellow banner. Click on Messages, then on Exclusive Offers, then you should see a link to the message.
@AllenArt "The one glaring thing I've noticed about the new version so far is that spectral rendering turned ON causes all kinds of weird colorful noise and fireflies that"
Laurie, are you still seeing this? Here's three renders from me. First with Spectral ON faithful, second Spectral ON natural, third Spectral OFF. Lighting for all is FWSA Soft Light Probes HDRI.
I'm not seeing fireflies or artifacts.
Are you a PC+ member and/or have a yellow discount banner on top of the store pages (or message in your account)? If neither, the price is $94.47.
I can't see your images, only broken image links. And I'm definitely getting weird noise with spectral rendering ;). Maybe next update will fix it. As it is, using it or not doesn't make that much of an appreciable difference. :)
Laurie
Laurie, try these. First is spectral ON faithful. Second is Spectral off. Third is Specrtal ON natural. The difference to me was subtle on this quick render. I slightly prefer Spectral ON faithful to OFF. Dont' like ther SPectral natural.
I'll probably test some diffrent models and lighting to see if it's consistent. I didn't see any appreaciable difference in render time.
What's happening when I use spectral rendering is that first the figure is covered in multi-colored dots then it resolves to a weird glow in areas that really should be in shadow. I don't know what the problem is.
Laurie
I get that when I have 'Noise Filter' Enable turned on.
I own everything in each pro bundle except for 2 items. I have no orange banner. I also passes on everything else that required me to buy V8 to get an additional discount. Considering the amount of money I have spent her in the last year and a half, not having that orange banner pretty much seals the deal for me. Won't be picking up V8 and won't be picking up anything that requires me owning her for an addtional discount. I will wait until next year or later when she is either steeply discounted or free..
Check under 'My Account' Messages and you should have a message now with a discount. I do now and I didn't a few days again on release although the discount I was given was still given and still the same, then and now, message or orange banner or not. I have bought only 1 prior Victoria Bundle (not sure which one since I do mostly toons).
Same here, have 1 Pro bundle and almost all items from the other two but it only counts as 1 bundle. Not much in the V8 bundle that appeals to me anyway, including V8. There will probably be lots of other G8 characters and Pro bundles anyway so no big deal.
I must admit I am a little surprised no one seems to point out that Genesis (original) was far more backwards compatible than any since, and that the marketing blurb claiming "Most backwards compatible ever" seems rather exaggerated. As for Genesis 8... I am disappointed how very little customer feedback was actually taken aboard from all the wealth that was posted here on the forum alone in the last 2 years. There are huge lists of things which really should have been addressed/improved/corrected or rethought, and a wonderful pool of suggestions could potentially have made this an epic figure. I feel overall, there were alarmingly insignificant changes for this supposed next-gen series. I think its more like a Genesis 3.1 than a 4th generation of Genesis. But having said that, its still a beautiful figure and I am happy for those of the community who are excited by it. But for me, this will be the 2nd generation in a row that I will have to skip.
...I have to agree. Besides "realistic" characters there was a wide variety of toon and creature shapes as well a fit clones which has not been seen since. I'd like to see G8 work with say, Sadie or Mavka without using GenX/GenX2/GenX3
I've frankly no interest at all in any of the models after the original Genesis, which has satisfied all of my rendering needs so far. All the improvements after G1 seem marginal. To be honest, I did use G3M for a few renders, but that's only because DAZ had iRay wet skin and iRay vascularity for G3M only and not G1. If there were iRay wet skin and iRay vascularity for G1, then I wouldn't have looked at G3M at all.
- Gens and morph's should be in the basic bundle as you buy the figure, not a pose, hair, clothes. (i find there is nothing of interest in the pro bundle actually)
upgraded to 8, but now 'm holding off and see what the big surprise is that we can expect soon.
#4 - Do her soft parts actually move like they're affected by gravity? And can she be touched by two different objects and have her skin be indented by both?
>> If there will be no realtime interaction like softbodies and included collisions anno 2017, 'm done
>> if daz don't get there animation setup in the main program right and IK system fixed, 'm done here
- MarvelousDesigner support as replacement to optitex.
so no new gen8 figures or content here before i've seen above happen first.
+1
Quite true.
The original , Genesis can accept animated motion files
going all the way back to poser 4"Dork".
Now the fact that G8 can not even use a Daz Studio aniblock created for its immediate
predecessor G3,exposes the claims of " most backwards compatible ever" to be pure marketing rubbish.
My friend and I are doing animated promos for a graphic novel we're producing and we instinctively said that we were going to create Genesis 2 versions of all of our Genesis 3 characters we're using in the novel for animation. We just sensed that there was no real animation support for G3 (and now G8).
Agree with all said. Also G8 have a good backward compatibility but fails or drops in the same way that G3 regarding Genesis and Genesis 2, almost all shoes and pants-panties doesn't fit rightly ( It seems more a Genesis 3.1 ) and i pass, have a 20% discount because own G3 and G2 Probundles, but also have another 37 bundles, but those last doesn't count for Daz.
I had the coupon for money off, but it came too late. Had I had the coupon last week, I would've bought the V8 Pro Bundle, but, instead I bought G8F morphs and a couple of outfits. I've now stopped using G8F and gone back to Genesis 2 (mainly because my characters look better based on Gen 2 models).
I hope some kind person like Sickleyield will make a push-button plugin that automatically converts all the G3 stuff to G8. Just press a button and it converts morphs, poses, shoes, clothing, etc. I'd pay money for that one. As a matter of fact I think I'll wait until something like that comes along until I move over to G8/V8/whatever.
Clearly a business opportunity for someone...
Just because something's new, doesn't mean that it's better.
So true. But more to the point, even if something is technically better, a "lesser" product can outperform it if it has a superior support network. The classic example is VHS versus Betamax, where Beta's superior picture quality was totally tounced by VHS' longer recording times and wider support among manufacturers. I didn't really use G3F until enough of the support items that I considered essential to my process made the transation to the new figure, and I expect I'll treat G8 the same way...
Took some discipline but did manage to forego the new shiny thing.
Partly due to being too busy with real life, mainly because I don't see the new generation* as being worth the price with the launch discounts.
*It's Genesis 4 -doh! _3_ tweaked with improvements and tweaked to be only partially backwards compatible. It's nice enough, but with DAZ spending its apparently very limited resources on DRM instead of a full figure update, I don't fancy risking investing in that future. I'll wait and see.
