Saving My Prop as a Prop/Figure Asset Does not Preserve the Origin Adjustment

I'm getting into content creation finally, and have been following some excellent YouTube tutorials made by some of the vendors here at DAZ 3D to learn the techniques. Now this does not happen with all of my models, but certain ones are not behaving as I would expect. Let me give you an example by describing the process I am using to create a Jewelry Prop.
I made a ring with a gemstone in Wings 3D, exported it as a Wavefront.obj. It has been UV mapped, and has material zones assigned. I imported it into DAZ Studio 4.9, and then using the joint editor set the origin point to the exact center of the band opening. I then loaded Genesis Basic Female, and moved the ring into position on the left ring finger (hierarchy = Left Collar>Left Shoulder>Left Forearm>Left Hand>Left Carpal 2> Left Ring 1). I rotated, scaled, and translated it to fit that joint of the finger, then I parented it to that finger bone. Once all that was done I tested the movement of the finger and even posed the figure in various poses. All seemed to work fairly well. I returned the figure to its 0 pose, and began the process of saving the ring as a smart parented prop. Again no trouble there.
Now when I opened a new instance of DAZ Studio, and loaded Genesis Basic Female, I navigated to the content folder I have the prop saved in, and loaded the prop to see if it was working properly. It loads, but not in the correct position. That position is off by half the diameter of the ring's band opening. So I selected the prop to see if there was a problem, and found that the origin of the prop was not where I set it. It seems that saving as a Prop/Figure Asset is not preserving the joint edited Origin setting of my prop. Instead it just moves the Origin back to where it was when I imported the model. Not sure why this is happening, and would like some help solving this problem.
Advice is quite welcome, but please make it so that I and others can understand it. If you don't know anything about the process, I welcome your comments also, but please let us know if you are an interested person concerning learning from this. I want this to be a learning experience not just for myself, but for others as well. I have made so much progress already, and do not wish to come to a standstill. If you have questions about something you need to know to better help solve the problem, Please ask away!
Thank you.

After you adjust the origin points you have to memorize it, it's in the little hamburger pull down menu on the top corner of the tool tab with joint editor tool active. Then save your figure/prop asset.
"memorize selected node's rigging" I think, for a prop.
I should add, DS remembers that stuff until it's shut down so it's really easy to forget that step.. even if you delete and reload the prop it'll seem like it's workign right until the next day then its all haywire.
Thank you for your responses, Fisty. I'll try that.
It's the one thing that was left out of the tutorial I was following!
Maybe it was coincidental, but in the past, I've just re-exported the .obj which seems to store the changes.
Mage13X13, would you be willing to share a link to the tutorial you're working with? I've had hit or miss success finding a solid walkthru tutorial for what you describe and have had to try to figure it out by getting bits and pieces from a bunch of unrelated tutorials. A seamless walkthru would be a welcome opportunity!
