I grew up watching Don Rickles- he was really funny and as the articles say, spared no one. He was always invited to the roasts, and he and Johnny Carson were quite a team when they were on late night together. Johnny could never be prepared for that guest, it was spontaneous to the hilt! Thanks for all the years of laughter Don, RIP.
I watched him on YouTube on the Johnny Carson show a few weeks ago and he was funny, much funnier in hindsight than most comedic routines hold up to be.
His vicious biting insults were legendary but people often considered it an honor to be selected as a victim. However, off stage he was the complete opposite.
