No problem, it could have been a bug of some sort. You seem to have it under control but i'm always around the forums so just give me a holler if you have an issue.
The pretty blue galaxy, but pointed at the less galaxy part. The near star makes a good moon!
Kindred Arts, the Iray HDRI Space was a zero-day purchase. Awesome product! I cross my fingers in anticipation of any more expansions you might create, especially with gas giants or other stellar bodies.
In this image, I rotated the HDRI about 190degrees and threw in a point light to highlight the ship a little more with some playing in the tone & ISO settings.
Do these render at 4K (you know the biggest preset size in the DS iRay Renderer settings)?
The HDRI maps are: 8000 x 4000 to 16000 x 8000. I normally render at about 4k settings depending on the job or need... and system limitations.
Here's my first use of one - and by the way, whoever mentione trhe idea of the mirror ball to get an idea of what the HDRI is like is a star!!! Also starring is AntFarm's new Roamer and the Astra spaceship
As a side note, that took 44 seconds to render
Cool render SimonJM, I pity the poor droid hoping for pickup.
Great renders coming in guys, glad to see it in action!
Yes, you can render in 4k. Render size is more a limitation of your hardware rather than hdri size. There are sizes up to 16k which is enough for a straight viewing angle at 4k without losing much fidelity.
Started a test last night and let it run all day while at work, just an old stonemason set (skyline hall) and beo2k10. Set all the surfaces shader to Iray Uber Base then made 3 (light, red led, blue led) emissive with Real Lights for Iray and rotated the HDRI to -70.on the Iray asteroid field orange preset. Stopped at 22% after 18.5 hours so still grainy, CPU only. Not entirely happy with it quite yet.
Great job mouser! You could probably even do a bit of contrast work in post and call it a day. There's a perfectionist in all of us though, i get it.
I would advise bloom and lens flares but i always get shouted at for relying on them too heavily .. just biased i suppose.
Typically I would render at 2x my desired end resolution then down sample in Gimp after "finishing" to polish it up some.
Same. I've tried some noise reduction software, since even complete renders can have a bit of grain here and there. I find a lot of packages tend to strip away detail though, so i just go for downsampling if i have the GPU budget.
One day I'll pick me up a NVIDIA based system, but for now I'm AMD & ATI strictly. I don't mind the hours because I remember rendering with bryce for 3+days on some images.
These are awesome!!
Ok, the squirrel in space....ya, there's a story there. :)
Great render Kat! I kinda feel sorry for the poor chap though
The light going through his fur is quite enchanting. Here's hoping he gets his nut
That's adorable! I love that one!
Watch the new movie "In Search of The Lost Acorn"...
:) Thanks! All the pieces were fun to work with. AM's squirrel is a blast and I LOVE these HDRIs!! :) Tho I still need to figure out how to position them right. Fitting the helmet and space gear on a squirrel gave me less trouble. LOL But I'll get it! :)
Well that's a good idea! Which hdri is that?
LOVE this Dreamfarmer!
The truth is, I've had a space opera setting on the back burner, and I refused to let myself engage with it until I felt I'd fulfilled my commitments to other worlds (2 books in one pentology done, 5 books in one.... endless... series done). But I've wanted to, more and more. Incidentally, I have an autistic son who loves space and planets. So it went like this: I saw the set. I thought, "I have to show my kid. I'll have to buy it and show him. I'll have to buy it and make space renders.... aieeeeee" and then I fell into the event horizon of my space opera.
Great render DF! I saw this on DA but i didn't make the connection with your name. I'm glad he likes space, i'm a space nut too.
I love the promos for this product, but I can't get it to work. The DIM indicates it was installed but I have no idea how to set the hdri or where to find them to set them as an environment map myself D: nothing seems to appear under the smart content under environments or even light sets, but I tend to stick to files over products if that's the easiest way to get to them.
You should find them under
Render Presets>KindredArts>Iray HDRI Space
I can't really help with DIM, i don't use it. The lights should appear in the following directory though - My Daz3d Library/Light Presets/KindredArts/Iray Space. Once you double-click one of the render presets in that folder, it will change your environment settings and apply the corresponding HDRI. If you want to use DIM i might have to reel in help to get you sorted, but if you want to install and use them manually, i can walk you through the process.
Edit: Or what scopio said above
Thank you, this is where I found them. At least I don't feel shafted for buying them now but an option under the smart content pane would be nice. Now to figure out how to actually set them.
