I think you've just pushed me into buying and rendering space scifi.

give him all you love and money, he deserves it wink

No its a beautiful set, I guess I'll get it soon as well, then we can do space renders together.

Good luck. I can't figure out how to get anything like the promos. Black sky for any planet maps. I'm not about to try infinite dome rotations in 3 dimensions to figure out where the planet is. No default render setting with the maps (if there are they don't show in the editor, or don't help).

Not typically idsappointed w/ KindredArts products, but this one is baffling.

Thanks guys, i appreciate it :)

@fastbike1 - I'm over in the other thread answering questions. For some of the hdri's i used a really low yield star map which doesn't show at all at lower exposure values. I was trying to stay true to source. Again, i'm in the other thread for support, or you could pm me if that's any better.

I bought it, and I swore I bought my last item for the forseeable future.  Those HDRI's really fill a much needed niche!

You could put a "chrome" ball in your scene to easily see where the planets are.

I'm currently resisting this; all I've seen I fancy for a few days, probably over a week now (not even added stuff to wishlish, except for i13's bed, love the wall decorations on it); I don't expect the resisting to last indefinitely. /sigh

I'm waiting for some cart shenanigans to clear up but oh, I've been planning renders. Showed them to my SO and she said Happy Birthday! And gave me a new gift card a day early. Oh yeah!

Hey me too! The best i could find was a set by Dosch, but they were quite expensive and low resolution.

I know the feeling. I've spent a few more pennies than i should have over MM.

Well that was nice! Happy birthday for tomorrow smiley

The only other ones I've seen (besides Dosch) are HDRI Hub and they're still 15 bucks per (ouch!). Other than that I haven't found any so these are very VERY welcome :).

Agreed. When it comes to HDRI's they tend to be either ridiculously expensive or free, not much in-between. There's some great sets on daz though, it's the only place a can really harvest them at a decent price point. Anyway, thank you for picking them up, i hope you enjoy them smiley

Snagged. This'll come in very handy for me in a couple of months . . . ;)

Thanks tango! Best of luck if you're doing a sci fi set, they're a tricky beast!

I just recently went through this with a render that needed a good space background. I have so much sci fi stuff I'd love to render but so hard to find good HDRs without spending a fortune. I usually fake it with postworked backgrounds, but the piece I just did was filled with reflective surfaces and it had to be in the scene to begin with. (Otherwise, a postwork nightmare!)

I may grab this new one and try again. Thank you, Kindred! Definitely a much needed product!

Yeah I guess so. But I'm writing sci fi at the moment, and all that world building is just oozing out!

Lovely set. You've done a fantastic job with these, thank you! My iray preview is fast enough to rotate the dome and find the sweet spots on the hdris. It'd be ideal if they loaded right in the default viewport, or if there were a couple of simple camera presets to give a starting position for those that have a slow iray preview window.

Perfect timing for a small commission project!

They look excellent and will really help my CPU render times. Thanks!

Yes absolutely, point taken! I didn't think of it at the time, but it probably would have been useful to have camera presets. I imagined people re-orienting the HDRI rather than moving there sets around, but i know there's plenty of people who simply don't work that way around. Next time i'll make sure there's some camera presets. smiley

I'm not sure what was going on. I can get a planet to show up now. Render in the other thread. I still have questions about getting "close up" renders similar to some of the promos (other thread). I was definitely frustrated because I typically don't have trouble getting a basic render on the first try, and definitely not with an empty scene w/ HDRI. Also haven't had problems w/ your products, so was definitely frustrated.

I have a vision of Bastion w/ DarkEdgeDesigns new SpartechOps.

Thanks guys, i appreciate it :)

I'm sorry you're having trouble, and i agree i should have included some camera presets, it just didn't cross my mind at the time. I've replied to you Re: Camera settings in the other thread. Either lowering frame width or upping the focal length should limit the field of view thus bringing more of the planet in view. If you could do this in iray interactive view, that would be better. Let me know if this helps and if you need any further assistance. Cheers!

I apprecaite the responses. I'm now fairly sure something was glitchy with my first few tries (all with the same Studio instance). I'm getting results and just need to get more familar with the product. I'm going to quit posting here since the other thread is active and I'm getting a handle on using this product.

FWIW, I don't typically use camera presets. I assumed that this product would at least produce something by just loading a HDR. As I said, it appears to do just that (now), so I think I had some temporary glitch with Studio.

Space cathedrals really need their running lights turned down. But they can be quite nice. Even underneath. Is there an underneath in space?

I'm going to have so much fun.
