I was just going to ask about the water and lighting. It's very beautiful! I love it!
Thanks again. Terradome is my go-to for HDRI lighting and water. I just wish my PC could handle the overhead of a full Terradome landscape and some extra vegetation with a couple of Genesis 3 characters and a prop or scene. Some day...
Leila is a nice character / skin texture. I really like the eyebrows as well. The face shape is a little off to my mind. But, she's easy enough to morph into something a little more to my liking. She's also a good base for creating other teen type characters, and the surface is already preset with NGS2 shaders.
That's an awesome render...But, why is she on the back of the boat?
Yeah, fantastic job on the setting. I often find that a simpler background and environment do more to highlight the subject and mood. This one looks great!
BWAHAHA!
Because I am no sailor! Hah! I read your comment and literally busted out laughing because as soon as you said it, it was so obvious! :D
Back to the drawing board on this one! :D
hahah Yeah, I think you're right. The only way it makes sense to buy the older characters or products, imo, is when they are super inexpensive like that. I'm often suprised at the prices of some of the really old V3/A3 stuff. Not sure why they don't deeply discount all that stuff. As you said, not many people are going to spend $20-$30 on an a really old product for V3 when you could spend less and get a much newer product.
She's a cute teen girl SHAPE, but the skin seems a bit blotchy to me, and ...those brows... I'd buy her for the shape though - I'd have to use a different texture on her.
Drat! I missed that ands there are still skins I need. Aiko 3 is one Gen3 character that still has a permanent place in runtime.
Are we expecting another catch-up sale this weekend? There are so many things on my wishlist and I want to choose wisely when spending this month's vouchers.
Wow, I did not know there were that many items for Cookie. Wondering if they added some to the store of it somehow I missed them entirely. Some of the prices are good today, other things have to go on the wishlist. If you have a CrossDresser license, the Evil Innocence stuff is a good deal. They designed Cross Dresser and have the universal fits built into most of their clothing. You still have to convert it I believe. WIll try that on something tonight.
Here's an odd thing ...
I have an orange banner that says "As an owner of Ultimate Zombie for Genesis 3 Male we are giving you an extra 30% off the Ultimate Zombie for Genesis 3 Bundle." (I know we're not supposed to talk about orange banners, but as this is a straightforward "you already own a related product so have a discount" offer, rather than a "DAZ is giving you a special favor for inscrutable reasons of their own" thing, I think it might be allowed).
The bundle consists of UZ-for-G3M (which I own), plus Grave Walker. So if I buy the bundle, all I'm effectively buying is Grave Walker.
If I add the bundle to my cart, that 30% discount plus my 10% bonus discount brings the price down to $10.19. But if, instead of getting the bundle, I buy Grave Walker on its own, the price is $9.69. (If I didn't have the 10% bonus discount, the bundle would come in at $11.30 or so, vs. $10.77 for Grave Walker). So while it's nice of DAZ to offer a discount, there's actually no reason why I might want to buy the bundle rather than Grave Walker on its own.
Or have I missed something? Is there perhaps something extra in the bundle that isn't listed on the product page? (A tasty helping of brains, a free 1-year subscription to "Beauty Tips for Zombies" magazine, etc).
Anybody know why the Killer Legs Morphs is only 30% off when it's Still Mad? and it doesn't discount to 50% off with another Mad item.
Will Grave Walker stack with OTHER items to give you an even more significant discount because of your Bonus Buyer and PC+ membership?
We're not supposed to talk about orange banners? I haven't seen one yet this March Madness - which seems more like... You ever meet some moody steampunk-goth teenager from drama class fond of quoting, "All the best people are crazy"? They're nuts like this sale. :)
I wish they made CrossDresser for Mac, though. AFAIK, there's no Mac version. (Hosed again... ah, why did I switch to Apple? lmao) :/
Cookie and Chip seem like fun, though, but I'd probably get Peaches instead (because funny animal people, huehuehue). Are they worth investing in?
May depend on your monitor settings. It looks quite different on my two monitors, on the one the skin is reddish and the veins on the head are seen clearly, whereas on the other the skin is yellowish and the veins hardly visible.
It's the default character (icon in Characters folder), not sure if it has veins turned on or off. Not that is seem to make much difference, if any at all. I've done a couple of renders of the head with veins turned on/off and I can't really see any difference. I've repeated the test a couple of times in case I did something wrong, but no. Selecting the skin under Surfaces before applying the settings makes no difference either. Same with eyebrow colors - don't seem to have any effect at all. No error messages in the log. Other presets seem to work OK.

If you have software like CrossOver or Wine, CrossDresser works on a Mac (with quirks, but what software doesn't have those?).
Oooh, I do have Wine. I'll give that a shot after I get home from work today (assuming Mass Effect Andromeda doesn't suck away what little free time I have left these days, lmao). Thanks!
Maybe it comes with shredded anatomical elements.
Yeah, not much of a deal there. A mistake, perhaps - should be 50%. An actual mistake is that "Grave Walker" is also listed under Genesis 2 people.
Took a while to turn, this one.
Yay. A Cookie and Chip sale. My remaining store credit may be in trouble today.
LOL...no worries. :) I think the traditional spot for the Greek goddess would have been on the back where the upright is, albeit facing forward into the ship as an idol. So, you weren't far off. It looks great as is. Just give her a license plate to hold. ;)
Yes, the brows are a bit too heavy, or masculine if you like, doesn't really match the rest of the character.
I picked them up on a blow out sale and haven't rendered them yet. They're very cute, and I do love the toony stuff, so I figured, why not? Because they are older figures, I think they're worth it when the price is low. That's how I got started with the V3s and everything else, just slowing collecting when they're cheapie cheap (which somehow doesn't stop me from still spending money on them at other times!)
I'm hoping with a new Cookie release today that it means that at some point in the future we'll get a Cookie 2.0 (and maybe even Chip 2.0!) for Genesis 3 just like we did with Star 2.0. I'd love to see that. The more diversity the better.
Ha ha, Jed! I saw the sale and thought of you!
Cool. Somebody thought about me. Guess I've let my toon addiction be known too much.
I think I'm going to pass on this for now. I hope The Philosopher keeps at it though because getting that sub-surface veined, pale skin look is something I've been wanting for a long time (with freckles - even better). If I look at my own skin or at my friends and family I can clearly see veins under the skin yet so few of the skins on sale here show that. While we are on the subject of realism, I hope someone with HD (or normal map) skills can craft some realistic nipples instead of the ice-cream cones we have on G3 right now. And knees. Ok I'd better stop before this becomes a long wish list.
The banner has now been updated so that the 30% off offer also applies to Grave Walker on its own, which makes more sense.
I lost the banner a long time ago because DAZ are making it very easy for me to resist spending my allowence. Perhaps it is just my impression but this concentration on pushing Sci-Fi/Fantasy products is looking more like a marketing drive. I mean that DAZ looks like specialising in that kind of content and attracting customers with those interests. Not for me though - that stuff leaves me cold. I guess there are other stores that could provide me with my fix but my DAZ addiction is slowly but surely being cured.
I might even treat myself to a meal out this weekend on the money I've saved during MM this year.
What's your interest?

So far, I havent seen too much real world, except the city loft sets before MM and always the pin-up interest.
No real world in clothing or sets, and very little in the way of deep discounts on popular figure and character bundles. They're going to nickle and dime me through the month and pull out all of the stops at the end of the month and I won't have any money left to buy it.
I also haven't seen any deep discounts on the PC+ membership.
March Malaise.
Did anyone get the Marine Outfit? I want to know if those pants can be shortened.
