Er... so we have to use beta software in order to be able to use these things? Or is 4.5.1.6 an official release?
4.5.1.6 was NOT a beta...it was a general release.
And now it is the old release version since there is a new one available.
Yep...and the new release is actually pretty nice. No major problems, so far...and I've been bashing it pretty hard today.
They just released :)
I was working on some animated examples but they haven't been edited together yet. Here is a still frame from one sequence showing the diamond preset on Genesis (with subdivision turned off).
I bought them just about the second they went live. I can't wait to use them tomorrow. Really stunning and smart work AoA.
Me too :) :)
Had Z's Dental Plan sitting in the cart. Your product pushed me to check out. Thanks so much for this great work. Been looking for really great shaders like this for ever. YAY! THANKS! :-)
I've been having a bit of a play this morning. Render far faster than I had ever hoped. Image is a really lazy test (a scene I mostly had set up already) but I am very pleased with the results.
Simplicity is often times very elegant. This is a very nice render!
Yes these are DS 4.5.1.56 and higher only. They were originally made in DS3 but then DAZ added some cool stuff in DS 4.5 which made them a little easier to use and allowed for people to make their own presets and share them.
That second aspect was the main reason to convert them. My hope is that people will make their own setting variations and share them. DS 4.5 allows for shader presets to save just the settings and omit the shader code. This means that those owning the base shader will will be able to load presets created by other people.
To save a distributable preset just add your custom dialed shader to a DS content folder using the + button at the bottom of the browser and select "Shader Preset"... but NOT "Depreciated - Shader Preset" please.
So depressing ... :( I will now remove it from my cart. I was so looking forward to playing with this, but I only work in DS3.
Well, if I can't get this product, is Wonderous Wares (http://www.daz3d.com/wonderous-wares) DS3 friendly? I'd like to be able to get at least one of AoA's awesome looking shaders, today ... lol
MINE
Thanks, AoA, these are so gorgeous and I look forward to playing with them. Kudos on the promo work on these. They are irresistible.
Just very quick render...with a skydome
I love this product!
Thanks for pointing out the mistake on the product page Szark. It should correctly state DS 4.5 now, though it still says the base shader is a .daz file rather than a dsf hehe.
Sorry about not having these backwards compatible with DS3 but DS4.5 allows for easier use and more features. DS4.5 also renders faster than DS3 on my machine. DS4 took a little getting used to but, on the whole, I am quite happy using it now... especially since I have my UI all tweaked to look similar to, my preferred, DS 1 and 2 haha.
Thanks for posting renders. I am happy to hear they are rendering faster then expected. Most of the time developing these was spent optimizing aspects of the shader so they render quickly. Be cautious about using Gi or AO lighting at high settings though as they may slow down the rendering.
Got these today. I've been having fun playing with them. Very Nice!
More than useful
Isn't that cool! I never would have thought to use the shaders in that manner. Nice job!
Ooooh! That is cool! I hadn't thought of using them for eyes. Very neat effect. Thanks for posting that.
A quick thrown together scene, just to test/use the shader (I know the lips/mouth are rubbish!)
Loving these - helping 3delight go from strength to strength
Wow!! Those swords look amazing!
+1 on the amazing O.O.
@Jabba: would they be the Blade of the Forest and Blade of Prophecy 2?
The green one looks like Elder Scrolls glass gear, how fun!
Thanks, although a lot of the credit goes to blbarrett (a vendor at Renderosity) for modelling swords with so many different material zones, so I simply used a different shader in each... and AgeOfArmour of course, although that sorta goes without saying, as there are no other shaders like these that I've come across before.
yes indeed, well spotted! :) I just love it when older props/models get a new lease of life with new shaders... I bought these blades ages ago but never got around to using them more than a couple of times - but seeing how they look with these shaders, I might just "need" to get Blade of the Sea too, hehehe.
I normally use blades that are more historical than mythical, but they mostly rely on high quality textures and often don't have separate material zones - but the blades above have different zones for each component that make them ideal for custom shaders, not to mention the fantastical elements of the design that make them look perfect for these luxurious shaders.

These shaders have innumerable uses ranging from subtle everyday stuff to the "in your face" spactaculars. I've hardly started using them but they're already feeling like an essential can't-do-without item .
Using for shoes too
Of course no shader is complete until it has passed the Stanford Dragon test. The results are in and I judge this product a must have!
P.S. - Now all we need are proper glass and liquid shaders. Ahem, *hint*. :cheese:
I love those little glass dragons and eagles.
