Here is another popular RDNA/DAZ Original that you can get a good price on with today's discount:
http://www.daz3d.com/v4-horizon
Which is the better Vanilla Sky package to get if you're not a Poser user, the SSS Stand Alone or the Poser/DS package?
http://www.daz3d.com/vanilla-sky-sss-stand-alone
http://www.daz3d.com/vanilla-sky-v-four
Is there any difference?
That is kind of confusing.
The spellchecker froze my Chrome. Had to start the Task Manager and kill the browser.
Expect mis-spelled words for a while.
Question. I want this: http://www.daz3d.com/dna-morphing-fantasy-coat-for-v3
Says I need Victoria 3.0 Base.
I have Victoria 4.2.
Will this work and what will happen (or need to be done) if I use it?
And I'm only getting this weird-looking-coat becuase I need it for the two Geisha girl sets....oh Daz, oh Daz, oh Daz
I'm pretty sure all the morphing fantasy textures work on ALL versions of the the MFD and its add-ons, so even you get the MFD stuff for G3, all old textures should work and there are tons of them, mostly priced at $1.99 but often lower in some sales. I have tons of MFD textures from my Poser days and will try to test them out in DS. Now the trend is photorealism but it's sometimes nice to do artistic renders as in many of the recent banner ads, but I think you can still make old textures realistic with IRay and tweaks because they were well made.
You can't use it on V4, by itself, but there is a separate V3 body that came (free) with V4 when I first got her ages ago and it should still be there, check the product page. You can also use V3 clothes on Genesis1 if you have legacy clones or whatever it's called to use V3/A3 clothes on G1. You can then bump it up to other Genesis generations with Wear Them All.
Remember you can buy as many RNDA blowout items as you want (or so I believe), it is just limited to one per transaction, but you can keep coming back for more.
I have one in my cart for 88 cents which I'm planning on purchasing at 90% off because it hardly seems worth it to buy a new item to get it free. Waiting for new items to trigger something major, like if it had been ALL RDNA DAZ originals, not just one, maybe I would have bought something new, but I actually already own pretty much all I want from that group except the thing in my cart and maybe two more things. As a Poser user as well as a DS user, I already own WAY too much!
Yes, yes....it says: http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-complete
Additionally, you'll find the V4>V3 figure, which allows you to use the V4 head with the V3 body so that you can still use all of your favorite Victoria 3 clothing.
Now the question is WHERE do I find that?
All I see in Daz is the 4.2 Actor, poses etc....
The Read Me is talking about POSER.
Sorry, I'm not at my computer now but it should be in the same content folder with V4 herself. There should be an icon to use the V3 body. But I highly recommend you get the clones to use V3 clothes on Genesis because V3 doesn't bend as well but has lots of nice clothes very often on deep sale. I love postwork, and do stylized art often, so I don't mind fixing things in post, but if you do, the clones are the way to go.
I know Terradome 2 doesn't work in DS but do any of the sky packs for it work? http://www.daz3d.com/terradome-skies-and-light-bundle ends up being $1.47 with the discount so wondering.
Today's deal is once per transaction. And there's a whole collection of items that show up every generation and share a UV between generations so texture packs still work. So all you really need to enjoy that Atlantis dress texture is ANY morphing fantasy dress. (The other bits are for jewelery and accessories anyhow; the dress will work fine without them.)
If you keep adding one thing at a time and check out with just one thing, you can get products for like 25 cents.
Bought lots of RDNA items. Now all I need is a contest for old RDNA-items to make me use them instead of just hoarding.
I buy a lot of old items precisely because of this. A lot of them are *extremely* detailed and well modelled.
Nice render too :)
Vanilla sky has a separate SSS product, that's all.
edit: to elaborate, compare with http://www.daz3d.com/vanilla-sky-sss-ugrade and you'll notice the difference between that and the standalone SSS product.
If you keep adding one thing at a time and check out with just one thing, you can get products for like 25 cents.
$30 dollars later.

Thanks
Still waiting (hoping) for insane G3 pro-pack sales
(hint-hint)
I've done this WAYYY too many times today, and have a lot of new goodies for pennies on the dollar, including some potted plants for 14 cents. Woohoo!
@avxp - Yes, there are some product requirements, but those textures work on any MFD. I was showing in the render how well it worked on on V3 MFD and V7 MFD.
I have been slowly collecting those at rock bottom prices. I bought Princess of Atlantis and some other V3 items I needed the other day when there was a deep discount on DAZ Originals. I think most of the items were 84 cents each. Vega for V3 was $2. So the $$$ spent was very low, and I have lots of neat new toys to mix and match. I picked up some V3 skins today for less than 25 cents! I'll render those soon. They are Sydd's and look very detailed. I really like the Shahara ones.
Oh, and since I am doing commercial renders, these truly are a bargain because the license to use them commercially is included in every purchase. That's a heck of a deal when almost all of these are under a dollar today.
Note on the V3 Morphing Coat, The Dress for V3, RDNA Morphing Dress/Shawl/Veil and some of the other Morphing items that aren't the standard MFDs across newer generations- you can still use many of these if you grab the Gen 3 Iconic Shapes for Genesis product (when it's on sale, of course!) Fit them to a Genesis figure and then refit to G2. If you want to go from Genesis to G3, you need Wear Them All or other clones. That's how I got Blue Moods for The Dress for V3/S3 onto this G3F. No fancy shaders- just threw Uber on it.
I have so much V3 stuff, but I haven't loaded any of it in many years. You are making me want to start slogging through all of those old product directories and play with them.
Are you converting the shaders to iray or are these using the poser shaders automatically converted (or are you using 3delight?)
I'm not following this...
And I still don't exactly get the 3 different Vanilla Sky packages.
http://www.daz3d.com/vanilla-sky-sss-stand-alone
Says it is Poser only...
http://www.daz3d.com/vanilla-sky-sss-ugrade
Says it is for this package...
http://www.daz3d.com/vanilla-sky-v-four
Which says it is for DS and Poser.
So, I guess the last package is what I really want if I'm not a DAZ user. The first one just adds SSS to the last one, and the middle one is Poser only.
Did I get that right?
Ooh, if you do some, feel free to post in my art thread. The more, the merrier! It's fun to dig up the old stuff and play with it. Kind of like Christmas in July or something.
On converting- Iray does a pretty good job converting them automatically but sometimes they need a little tweaking (other times a lot!) I do a test render with no extra shaders, and then put Uber over it. I really like DA Iray Shaders for Leather and Cloth. There's a preset to throw the Uber on, and I just use that because I'm lazy, LOL. It solves most problems without having to shade anything. I did that on the Princess of Atlantis and the Blue Moods Dress and Sandals.
If it looks really bad still, I'll play with the DA presets first, then go through my other shaders until I find what works. I'm doing that now with an M3 set that looks dreadful in Iray. But the lines of the clothing are really neat, and that's what I look at when I buy the old things- is the style unique, interesting? Is it worth fiddling with? Most of the time it is.
For there rest- I use OOT shaders for hair, and NGS Anagensis 2 for skin. I picked up some old hair and skins, so those should be fun to play with too.
Yes, this makes me want to dust off my Poser directories.
Awesome result.
Please do! Let's have a V3 party!
@donovancolbert Can't help you there, I own all three and haven't loaded any of them up yet. I have DAZ and Poser. The standalone was so cheap today that I went ahead and bought it just in case.
Thanks for the tip! :)
Of course if you do not fancy dealing with V3 and her poor bending, you can put all those very cheap V3 skins onto G3F using this:
http://www.daz3d.com/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-3-special-edition-victoria-3
You will also save a ton of VRAM compared to a native G3F skin.
@Llynara Did you have to shame me with that stunning Gwenyth Paltrow? Did you? Well done.
I copied and pasted that paragraph with the list of products to get things fitting.
There should probably be some kind of sticky and it might make people more likely to step out their comfort zone.
I took you advice and I'm going to play with this and see what happens.
http://www.daz3d.com/geisha-major-red
Yay! I converted someone else to my crazy V3 cult! LOL If you need any help, just holler. I'm working on this stuff in my art thread too. Link is in my siggy.
Oh yes, I forgot about that one! I think it's on my wishlist. At the time it came out, I hadn't fallen madly in love with V3 yet. The SAE version of V3 looks like a hideous, nippley space alien when she loads up. It look Vega to make me see the light!
Heads up: all RDNA PC items are showing full price when you go to FINAL checkout. You have to click edit cart, then the price will go back down and stay down through checkout. $2.99 items are 21 cents and $1.99 items are 14 cents!
Keep in mind that this is for the original Terradome, not Terradome 2
