Yah. I had one or two textures by Lyoness that worked pretty well with it but thats all.
Can I purchase this now in advance? I'm in love:) lol went and dug though my content last night and got all my asset ready for this monsters release.
I might create some skins that are 4 arm compatible for the heck of it.
One solution is a procedural approach. It's not quite as good as a fixed texture, but it handles this sort of thing easily.
My free Iray shaders include a few skin options that can work for four arms, octolegs, whatever you throw in.
My problem with Four Arms is that I couldn't put clothing on it.
I have a four armed shirt freebie but it's not very good and it requires dynamic clothing stuff.
At some point I may try taking another wack at it, now that I have a much better notion of what I'm doing. Maybe even make it conforming!
Honestly, almost any four-armed clothing would require either a dedicated figure, or dynamics.
How about the scariest creature alive, well to shoes, a puppy. I want a puppy 3d figure.
Maybe for aquatic animals bettas or guppies or goldfish? Maybe any critter found at the usual pet store?
Or was a hamster or gerbil not what you had in mind?
How about the critter from Egyptian mythology. the Seth creature. Oh I have been wanting one of those like as far as I can remember. Well maybe since starting with Daz
Looking at four arm, the regular arms have 'shoulder' bones mirrored to the four arms, which is good -- you can adjust the node weight map of the shirt to take that into account, if you fit it to the four arms. Though you'd still have issues with morphs and scaling that the four arms doesn't 'see.'
But the kicker is the lack of mirrored forearm and hand bones, which is a deal breaker.
You'd need to build a new four arms geograft that had those bones.
I'd say "Mr. Puggles" would fill the slot for an adorable puppy, AKA, the "Destroyer of Shoes".
As for Egypt's "Set", sometimes called "Sutekh", one could, in theory use one of the various Anubis figures, using "magnets" (in Poser) or D-Formers (in DAZ Studio) to turn down the muzzle and square off the ear tips.
Sincerely,
Bill
Mr. Puggles????
edit: searching the sites to see if I can find him.
A "MeshBox" creation. Can be found at their site and "Content Paradise".
Sincerely,
Bill
Works great if I want a pug puppy, but what if I want a lab or a boxer collie puppy?
Crap outa' luck, I suppose.
Sincerely,
Bill
There's always the Millenium puppy
http://www.daz3d.com/millennium-puppy
It's older, but still reliable.
@Redfern... Something about the color palette in that render... It's very Caravaggio... "Vendetta del pug gigante"... I'd love to slip that into an art museum amongst the old masters.
Interesting... Someone upon another forum commented about the lighting. Just a "happy accident" I suppose. The notion was, what would Godzilla be for a race of cat people? This was the absurd result.
Sincerely,
Bill
The UV mapping for four arms is close (but not exact) to the V4 UV. My avatar is using a V4 skin on Genesis with Four Arms.
Just to show I haven't forgotten this thread...
The problem with 'Four Arms' was that, while it was perfectly fine for male figures, female figure had to go topless with it. I think there were only one, maybe two bikini/underwear-style tops which didn't intersect through it.
Love that new creature design! Anything Lovecraftian and predatory should be desirable!
The larger squid have a sharp talon in the middle of each sucker to tear away flesh. Don't know if you want to apply those to it?
With Iray, you should be able to give some optional skins which give emissive bioluminescence in strategic places. Make it look like it's luring in prey by giving the tips of the tentacles a small glow, anglerfish-style, perhaps? Some other emissive patterns could make it look weirdly beautiful. No reason it couldn't also function as a 'floating' alien for living in low-gravity worlds, too. Put it behind a glass containment unit filled with smoke and a human on the other side, for a promotional render image, like two futuristic ambassadors meeting up for negotiations. :)
Just amazing work Valandar !!!
I agree looks cool you know even though it is meant to be a sea creature this looks even cooler floating through the air more scary looking
texture wise be cool if it was kinda sluggy purples reds slimy looking with viens
Proving that something can be wicked (as in uber cool and evil) and beautiful at the same time. ;)
Thank you very much Valandar, I've been saving my pennies I really look forward to this critters release. .
While it takes a bit of work (and still only leaves a small selection of tops available) you can always create a geoshell after applying four arms, using deformers to pull straps above or below the bottom arms as much as you can, then use a smoothing modifier set to collide with the geoshell.
I can see a group of these creatures chasing people down through the forest or streets easily and the the maybe Duke Nukem or Bruce Campbell taking them on
Is this the same thing that went up today it seem a bit different ?
Save
No - todays thing is just textures for an existing beastie by Hawke and Oshikai http://www.daz3d.com/horror-from-the-deep
They remind me of the creatures from ODD World!
