Marionette is clothing done right

Marionette for Genesis 3 Female, a new item in the Platinum Club, should be an example of what vendors should aim for with their clothing. It has an absolute boatload of adjustment and movement morphs (almost too many to ever use), HD wrinkles and details, and a smart design that allows the top to be used as a completely separate item and the dress trim's texture to be altered without affecting the rest of the dress or requiring editing in Photoshop. My only issue is that I cannot seem to make the dress appear beige like in the promo image, it's always blinding white for me. I also thought I saw a texture add-on for it when it first appeared in the store, but that seems to have vanished.
Anyway, this is a great product that I believe addresses many of the issues that some of us have with clothing today.

It looks fantastic! I'm definitely going to have to get it! :) Far too few PAs realize the importance of realistic wrinkles and movement morphs. Kudos to SHIFTING IMAGES! :)
I hadnt even noticed this. Im definetely going to pick it up based on your recommendation SnowSultan. More morphs and adjustments than necessary are preferable to not nearly enough. Clothing (dresses, skirts) have become like hair, difficult to make it move realistically unless the character is standing straight up with a minimum of motion. On that note, goldtassel is making huge improvements to the hair category for many of the same reasons, lots of controls and adjustments. Thanks.
I agree on the amount of detail and options, I have looked at it several times prior to seeing this post.I am just having a hard time coming up with ideas for uses, but at the PC price, I'll probably pick it up!
Yeah, I'm getting the bright white too - I've been adding a pale beige to the diffuse colour to get round it. But I'm loving tbe outfit too - I hope to see more PC+ items from that PA.
To me it looks like 70s fashion. Really cool! But I think it could be modern all the way to fantasy depending on what clothing pattern/texture shaders you use on it and what accessories you couple it with. It looks to be very versatile to me. :)
Loving this outfit!
Kudos and thank you, thank you to Shifting Images for an amazing set of morphs and beautiful textures.
Looking forward to more creations and can I wishlist a long narrow below the knee skirt to go with the top, a full length skirt...and a full length Chiton with as many morphs as Marionette;)
Great to know! I bought this soon as it hit the store, but I haven't used it yet ;)

I'm glad to see SHIFTING IMAGES is still making clothes. I have all of their previous stuff and, besides being kind of difficult to fit to Genesis 3, it is all exquisitely done. I have found that if clothes do not have ample folds and wrinkles that they make the characters look like SIMS, even at long distance.
It looks like the tonemapping settings when the renders were done might be making the skirt look darker than it does in the default settings. If you WANT to make the skirt darker and more match the color of the lace trim on the boots, put RGB color 0.27 0.25 0.19 in the color chip on the base color map. Change it on the following material zones: Skirt Ruffles, Skirt Waist Back, Skirt Waist Edge and Skirt Waist Front.
And I agree...this outfit is quite lovely :). Has an Asian flair to it.

I really think the outfit looks nice. Wish men's clothing had such fluid grace as this set. Beautiful.
I agree. I think the shirt in the Montana outfit looks to have a bit of grace to it. :) Not as fluid, of course, as a dress - but imo better than many men's clothes I've seen.
+ 1
Yes, I really like Montana outfit. It is definitely nearing the mark for men. Too bad, however that most of the outfits for men, aren't as nice quality and the outfit itself had some 3delight textures.
Best program to add wrinkles to clothing is Marvelous Designer, that is if you can afford it!
I use an old version sometimes and it does make the clothes look more realistic.
The Bandit outfit Shifting Images did for G2M is one of the best male items I have (even though it has a couple of little problems).
The only thing I don't like too much about the latest outfit is that if you are viewing from behind it could be a bit longer.
I saw AllenArt's wonderful pic, read the comments here and grabbed 'Marionette' immediately. Shifting Images' clothes are phantastic; I own several of them. They/she/he could be the one(s) to make real Roman clothes...
