Can Victoria 4 & 7 files for hair, wings, ect. work on Victoria 3 base or any Genesis base modles
Hello every one, I am a NEWbie here at Daz & TYVM a head of time for your assistance in my questions :)
I did try to find answers to my questions on the forums & knowledge based n video areas here at Daz .. but i was unsuccessful in my search :)
over the Xmas freebies I got VICTORIA 3 & MICHEL 3 BASE, I also picked up the head & body morphs for them & other content, so my questions will based off of the content I have.
pleez feel free to provide any links to vids or articals, I really like to read n study this :)
My questions are:
1. Can I use a victoria 4 or 7 or any Genises hair, clothing, wings, textures for clothing I choose on Victoria & Michel 3 base models & ALL of the Genesis base models ? ( are these files back ward compatible ? ) & ( if all genesis models can easily be customizable can I use any of the other clothing, hair, wings, excreta) from the other models ? (like V & M 4 or 7 or Lilith hair or clothing ?) & ( if not compatible .. is there a way to do this ?)
2. Wat exactly do the head & body morphs do for V3 & M3 ? or any of the models & why are the morphs important or needed ?
3. Do the head & body morphs also make the models compatible wit other files that are NOT V3 & M3 (hair, clothes, nails, skin colors, excreta.) ?
or do this just give more options in face & body poses ? ( smiles, eye brow movements, mouth, arms, legs movements, excreta ) ?
4. Can I use Poser files in Daz ? & can they be used on any of the models or backgrounds, I choose/ purchased , excreta. ( like all of the G or V & M3) but NOT own the Poser program ? & if not wat do I need to do to use poser files in Daz on model or background I choose to purchase ?
5. Can any texture files work on any clothing or backgrounds, hair, excreta ? on any model or BG ? ( can i use a texture for a specific piece of clothing I did not purchased & use that same txture files on a different piece of clothing that was not originaly made for ?) & if not is there a way to do this ?
6. Will Gimp & Blender files be compatible wit Daz ? ( If NOT how or wat do I need to do to be able to go back n forth between them ) is there another FREE program that is compatible wit Daz that helps make this easier ?
7. I also picked up a free background during Xmas freebie.. can I use any other back ground files to give my background the look i want ? (colors, rocks, grass, excreta) n can I find any content that can work together on any back grounds ?
8. As I was researching n studying the info on Daz web site I saw a page that had LINKS to renderosity & a lot of other sites that gave free content, I went to a few sites (renderosity & ShareCG) I made accounts on both sites & I was trying to find content,
My problem was how do I put these files in to the CORRECT folders & is there a program that can help me with this ? (like the daz install manager) I have made a big mess of the files I DL'd from those sites n I like to keep them organized. lol.. if there is any way to fix this or a program to help me..
9. Can Bryce files work in Daz on the BG I purchased but NOT own Bryce ? if not is there a free option that is compatiable wit Daz to make the BG have the look I want ? & edit the BG ?
I am sorry for SO MANY questions..lol.& sorry if they sound redundant.. I am new here :)
I am currently trying to re educate my self n I'm taking online classes in this area again after a accident that caused me to be physically disabled, I unfortunately do not have the $ to buy Poser or any of the other programs. Pleez refer me to FREE options that is compatible wit Daz, & I am trying to relearn :)
I VERY MUCH APPRECIATE your help and your time :) TY
Happy 3D' ing :) every one

Comments
1. some items could be parented to Victoria 3 and Michael 3 but theya re very old figures and there are very limited ocnversion options (there are iconic shapes for Genesis that will allow the conversion of their clothing to Genesis, I'm not sure what options there are for the reverse.
2. the morphs allow you to chnage the shape of the figures
3. no
4. Yes - if correctly installed they will appear in the Content Library pane under Poser Formats
5. Generally human and clothing textures can't be used on most other models. Other textures vary.
6. Save as a supported format - .png, for example
7. I'm not sure what you mean
8.
9. No, Bryce items are specific to bryce - even with Bryce there are limits on what can be exported.
Installing Poser-format content in Daz Studio. This assumes you are using the default folders.
Take the zipped content and find the Runtime folder - this may be nested inside other folders, which you don't want. That Runtime folder should be merged with the one already in the /DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library folder. The content will then appear, in various libraries, in the Content Library pane under Poser Formats>My Library
7. What was the product, and/or how does it work? If it was a backdrop like the millenium enivonment that is sort of a curved plane with an image on it, then you would need to buy (or create) images that are designed to fit it. If you are just talking about using a 2D image as a backdrop, you can use whatever image you want, and you would edit it in photoshop or a similar 2D application. If you are talking about a skydome, the image needs to be designed to map onto a sphere, so you couldn't just use anything and editing would be difficult without the proper tools, but if you have other images mapped the same way you can swap them out easily.
Thank you for to all of you ahead of time..i will tag each of you sepreatly so i can make sure i am not messing up..lol
before i go unzippin again n stiking files any place i want to make sure i understand this properly n correctly.. i do not want to make a mess again..
My first tag quote is to Richard.. My path i follow to try to find the proper folder was this.. my 1st search was in ...
This pc ..windows c drive....program files..daz 3d.. Under that I DID NOT see The folders that you requested me to find.. ( /DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library folder)
I also look in the program files (x86) nothing that said ( /DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library folder)
Then i did a search in the file finder looking for the exact folders you described
I FOUND the folders but is this the correct place to put this in..i thought it would be a program folder..not a document folder..
Path is ..this pc..documents..daz 3d..studio..my library
wen i get ready to follow your instructions Is this where i take the UN ZIPPED files n is this where i put the renderosity web site content and poser files ?
In the MY LIBRARY folder ?
I took a screen shot to make sure i am doing this correctly this is the this pc.. document ... daz 3d...studio..my libray pic
also do i also take each of the unzipped files and put them in thier own sepreate folders ( such as clothing or poses..exctra ) in the my libray folder or will the show up in the proper folders in daz ?
for example will it be ok if i made a folder like this (renderosity web site)... then inside that folder ( clothing) .. (poses) , ( textures) ?
Do i just leave the Scenes folder a lone ? I notice it had my 1st render from the in program tutorial.
then wen i get ready to go into daz ...what will be my next steps to find my files from renderosity and poser files ?
again TYVM for ur assistance n bearing wit me :) i appreciate it a lot.
question 4 .. for poser files i got from daz web site that shuld work ? did i get that correct ? :) n they shuld be in the correct folders ?
but for a file i get on renderosity web site this will need to go into the MY LIBRAY folder ? did i get that correct ? :) n then i put them in a new folder i create to keep them orginized ? as i explained in my last response :).
for question # 7
i got the castle creator this is the link http://www.daz3d.com/castle-creator
then I aslo got this http://www.daz3d.com/jungle-vines
can i take the vines and use them on the castle ? and i also picked up a few things from renderosity that gave me trees n grass also wanted to give the stones on the castel a old broken down look like a lot of time had passed.
i hope that i did a better job explaining question # 7
these installation questions have been asked many times, and as they are almost always asked by newbee's, an exacting, detailed answer is required to get the process right. This is naturally a difficult thing to accomplish in a forum setting, and probably a bit exasperating for someone so in demand and helpful as Richard Haseltine. Someone should make the Definitive_Product_Installation_Guide.pdf for manual installation of 3rd party and complimentary products to Daz3D users. Although the lastest Daz Installation Manager (DIM) is pure genius and to so, so far, absolutely flawless for Daz made products, the growing new user population can't be expected to ignore the older models and all the product universe available to us outside the Daz3D.com property...and we know we're not expected to. I wish I were expert enough to volunteer for this job, but am still on the installation journey myself. As for the compatibility issues, it gets rather complex when discussing V4 for Poser vs V4 for DazStudio, and within those realms, G2 vs G3 posing, morphing, clothing and hair compatibliities. Here's a couple of things I have found that are supposed to aid in solving some of these issues. As I have no real experience in using them, I solicit comments from those who have:
http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3-female-for-genesis-2-female-s ...supposedly allows using clothes and hair made for G3 on any G2 base model.
and then there are these: http://www.daz3d.com/batch-convert-gen4-poses-to-duf-format
http://www.daz3d.com/v4-pose-converter-for-genesis-and-genesis-2-female-s ...which supposedly port pose packages made for Gen4 Poser model to a Daz format. comments as to veracity of that claim also solicited.
Once at his Daz store, http://www.daz3d.com/draagonstorm, you'll also find tools for texture mat conversions.
And finally, there's even a utility designed to port Daz G3 models into Poser 11, but EVERYTHING has to be just right, including the version of .NETFrame your Win O/S is running, and requires the earlier, now inactive version of DSON.... so is apparently not done without precision. I don't have a link to this, as it's found somewhere in the forums of Renderosity.com.
Hoping this thread draws more expertised based comments than mine....
