  • Verified that the free Knight item is still working with a new purchase. I wish I had known that today when I made a purchase that included a new item. I wonder if I opened a ticket if they would credit me with the free item from the Knight selection.

  • Unfortunately the loyalty discount is not applied to any Emma and Jordi new releases nor to the back catalog?! Should work on today's newly released hair though.

I guess the super sale is over~

http://www.daz3d.com/gwennili-hd-for-victoria-7 so which hair is the Ciri hair from the main promo? There are a bunch credited but none seem to match.

Yeah, the store's messed up again, as usual. They have to fix the loyalty bonus, not doing 60%.

The way the coupon reads I think the 60% off replaces the 30% loyalty reward and only applies to the featured artists and new releases the were on yesterday's sale page. That seems to be working for me.

Since Andrey Pestryakov is one of today's featured artists I wish the 60% discount did apply to them; But it doesn't.

ETA: Also, while my store credit is low I have been wishing for a gift card sale but the price of admission on this one is too high.

So altogether I think this may be a much needed rest day from purchasing.

  • What is 30% plus an additional 30%. The way Daz Deals calculates it the new releases in my cart are at 51% discount. Does that sound right? And other PA qualifying items that are 40% plus 30% calculate to 65% discount. Opinions? The way Daz does the discounts makes my head spin. That's why I'm grateful for the Daz Deals addon I'll tell you. But you still can't be certain how the site is calculating the percentages, at least I can't, generally... when I first wake up or I'm about to go to sleep - which is when I tend to shop Daz. :)

Yes.  70% of 70% is 49%, which is what you end up paying

However,  60% of 70% is 42%, so you should only be getting a 58% discount; you are getting an extra 17% somewhere...

    it's 30% x 30% = 51% not plus

So each new discount stacked on top gives less and less because otherwise it'd be pretty easy for people to be well over 100% at times

Store still all kinds of messed up giving correct prices on some items not on others. It's a shame today is clearly a rest day in sales terms (the gift card terms are pretty awful too) because there's some really nice stuff out today and yesterday.

I understand that completely!  All I know is to take the Holiday Percent off the new releases for today:

take the sale price (on the new releases for today) and multiply x .70 (if you have a .30 (30%) discount, you are paying 70% (.70) and that should be the price you are paying.

Example: Russell is 13.27 on sale, x .70  (30% off) so $9.28 and that's what it is in the cart.

     If you have a 25% Holiday discount, it's 13.27 x .75 (25% off)= 9.95

    If you have a 20% Holiday discount, it's 13.27 x .80 (20% off) = 10.61

I find it easiest to do the amount I am paying (aka, .70 for 70%) rather than multiply what comes off (30%)  then have to do an additional step to subtract that.

DAZ Math is an advanced-level course offered by several colleges only as part of their postgraduate programs. It is not intended for undergraduates who have not completed the necessary pre-requisites. :-)

One tip I can give you that makes things make a little more sense is that discounts are not added, but multiplied. Or, to look at it another way, they're applied in order, one after another.

Imagine you want to buy the Unflateable Pony Pro Bundle, which costs $100. You might say "Hmm, 30% discount, plus 30% discount, that's 60% off, I should get that for $40. Whoopee!" But the way DAZ's magic elves do the math, it's "$100 with a 30% discount, that's $70, then apply a 30% discount to that, and that gives you $49. Overall discount, 51%." Similarly, if you have a 40% discount followed by a 30% discount, that's not a 70% discount overall, it's ((base price x 60%) x 70%), which gets you a final discount of 58%. (Not quite sure how you're getting to 65% in your example, but there's probably another discount kicking in, perhaps a PC+ discount?)

Things can get further complicated by rounding errors and weird special conditions ("Only applies to artists whose store name begins with 'Q', during the hours of darkness on any day that begins with 'T' except during a full moon in October or north of the 37th parallel"). But quite a lot of the time things make more sense if you just remember that discounts are applied one after the other (in an order known only to DAZ), rather than added.

OMG, Math! NO, NO, NO. Brain can't take it. Must have more coffee first.

And I still can't get that free G2 base figure. I'm hoping they fix that soon.

  • As many times as the website has screwed up the calculations on me I think I should be forgiven not groking the paradigm. The multiplier .3 or .4 or whatever and then that result multiplied by my .3 holiday works out nicely. Thanks.

Which figure are you trying? It's looking right for me with the construction worker outfit and Gianni 6...which seem to go together somehow. ;)

Yeh, but spending on items not that bothered about to get so little discount; i'll pass. Still have some left, and if i run out, well it saves me cash - good for me, not Daz. Sure if I was going to buy anyway, then a small gift card is always worth it.

  • Save yourselves from the maths. Just use your windows (or any basic) calculator with the % sign and key in exact sequence as shown below:

    N - 30 % - 30 % = {final price}

    or

    N - 40 % - 30 % = {final price}

where N is the base price on which you want to calculate the discount. That way you can stack as many discounts as you want. It sounds confusing only till you start using the % sign on the calculator; but once you start using it...

I've tried it with stuff in there and without stuff. I've dumped the cart, logged out and back in, tried other browsers, computers, rebooted, etc.

I finally started a ticket. It's just weird that it never kicks in, even though I'm following everything on the page- new item from featured Christmas day, G2 base figure from the selection shown. Doesn't matter what combo, never works for me.

If you are shopping with a gift certificate, you can go ahead and pay the price and put in a ticket to have the price refunded.

My guess is something you did in the past (probably a particular item purchased) happened to trip up the sale's logic. I got him for free yesterday, so I know that he worked at some point over the last few days.

  • FWIW, I got him free yesterday, and tried to get another item today, and the sale won't work. Maybe you accidentally triggered it with a purchase you made yesterday?

Right there with you Llynara. I've tried every combo, etc. and it still hasn't worked. And yesterday's percentages were screwy for me. Today, they seem corrected, but still no freebie. For a short while yesterday I kept getting additional discounts on the day's new items as I added them to the cart. For example, I added the Dorian Hair (love it!) and Construction outfit. The construction outfit had more than 60% discount. I added the Toxic Dump as a 3rd item and it had an additional discount. Then I'd check later and some were at 60% off, others had steep discounts, before settling down to the 60% off everything. I'm not filing a ticket though. If I don't get the freebie, so be it. I'll probably wait till payday to get the rest of the other new stuff I've wanted. Lord knows the money I've spent here the last couple months, December especially. I have so many new toys I don't know what to play with first.

  • LlynaraLlynara Posts: 4,772

Glad to know I'm not the only one with this issue. I looked through my orders, and I don't see anything that would've messed up the coupon. I didn't buy any G2 bases by themselves. I did buy two G2 pro packages after I couldn't get the base freebie to work. They were in the 70% off with new release categories for other days.

My purchases from the 24th don't look like anything noteworthy. Just freebies, a new release or two, some discounted PA stuff. But I am wondering if something is making the system think I've used the discount, when I have not. I don't know.
