I don't really think Xurge's armor is rubbery because of function. It seems to be a texture issue, because a number of pa's don't seem to really do textures all that well. Many of the textures look flat and unconvincing and the hex mesh looks big and fake. It isn't always easy to recolor either I'm afraid. There aren't always enough mat zones and details are painted on.

There are some pa's who do great texture sets. Xurge's were good, but I find them a bit dated looking now. In light of the trend towards realism.

Just my opinion of course. Everyone likes different stuff. There are a couple sets I bought at Xurge's site  that after I bought them I have never been able to use like the heavy armor, because it just doens't look like armor. The textures look pretty bad to me.

I also wish for some reason, he'd take a closer issue at the neck areas. For some reason a lot of his armor looks bad in that region.

The other issue is the armor behaves like rubber. It has a doughy genesis 1 shaping issue. Which makes some of the larger bigger body armor in particular look pretty bad.

    This ^

Rendering Technology has advanced  and thus user expectations have evolved as well.
Not to bash but facts are factsfrown

I have alot of older legacy Content that is just not "aging " well  and it becomes glaringly apparent when rendered in a PBR.

And, forgive me, but it is a not as simple as throwing on some modern Shaders , it is the Design asthetic, topology & mesh flow as well.
Merchants, of particular genre's,( Sci-Fi), need to be aware of how standards are changing if indeed they wish to remain relevant..Mike & vicky4 are commercial Dead ends IMHO

Sci fi Armors like this are more in line with My expectations here in late 2016.

  • Not to necro an old thread but I just found this in Google. I was trying to get in contect with Xurge3d several times over the last few months. I have a lot of his outfits purchased over the years. I walked away from art for a while due to IRl but when I came back it was with a new PC. So I was trying to contact Serggio or Gigi to have the downloads reset ( as per their website tells you to do )  and over the course of 3 months or so I never received a single response. I even bought a new outfit from the store in hopes of getting some attention, but the process was an automated email with a link to the new purchase download.
I finally unsubscribed from their newsletters because of the lack of customer response.

I get emails from time to time about sales. In fact I have two this month. But, since he stopped selling gen 3 items, I Stopped buying. Do not need more v4/m4 refits.

    I noticed this, as well.

Sergio doesn't even respond to Facebook comments. I did notice that the Genesis stuff is no longer being sold at the store and the Facebook bio reads: "Worked at Xurge 3D, Corp." Yet the newsletter emails keep on coming and the sales, too. I made my last purchase there and keep copies of all the stuff I purchase, so I don't think I will ever need to contact anyone over there.

So it isn't just me who gets no answer from them. I'm furious as they promise on their website to provide new links, and nothing happens, they play dead after you have bought something.

I took a chance and shopped their recent half price sales. I try not to buy huge amounts at a time, and download everything immediately. So far, so good. Haven't had any problems with content, yet. There are still a LOT of Gen 3 items, and right now they are $3 each. I have many of them, and will render more soon. I haven't had to contact Xurge about anything and hope I don't have to, because it sounds like they aren't very responsive.

The textures do take some tweaking in Iray but look pretty good. Mainly you have to turn down the glossy because everything looks weirdly plastic. Probably the difference of how Poser sees the textures vs DAZ Iray. I also turn up metallicity on armors. Wear Them All works great on most of the items. A few need extra smoothing, but so far the fits haven't been too bad. Renders and notes are in my art thread:

I own most of their new stuff. I don't buy M4/V4 content any longer, so don't pick up anything they send out in their recent flyers.

  • I bought, downloaded and installed the Hypersuit V4 product.

I installed it into the poser side of my Daz3D software and then opened Daz, loaded V4 and attempted to load the hypersuit but nothing happens.

I tried loading the red and the black suit, even the helms but nothing happened.

The screen cycled like it was loading something but Vicky remained buck naked.

After 12 or 15 fruitless tries Vicky complained of tiring and chills and I gave up.

    What am I doing wrong?

I’d say you’re trying to load materials for the suit and not the suit itself.
