You now have a Pocket PA - right on YouTube. :)

Lets back up... I owe you an explanation:

    I was late. Why?

    I got scared.

I'm used to working all by myself in my little office. The idea of stepping in front of a video recorder on purpose was much harder to do than I expected. What do I even say? Who will care, anyway? Everyone will laugh at me! <-- I had to get over all of that and suck it up.

    So I did.

    What were my other justifications?

    - I had the wrong lights.

    - I needed a new mic.

    - I didn't have the right software.

    - I don't have enough videos yet.

.... These were all just excuses, too.

    So now what?

Well. I'm here. You get me. I'm imperfect. And insecure. And sensitive. I'd much rather hug you than not be able to see your face. I can't feel you if I don't watch your eyes and that makes me very nervous becuase you can see mine.

But... I'm also honest. I'll tell you anything you want to know about anything I can share and if I don't know the answer, I'll tell you that too. We can learn together.

    From now on:

    - You'll see my day to day.

    - The projects in the works (that I can't share until after the product is released if it isn't something I am brokering).

    - My own portfolio reviews

    - My opinions on other releases on the Daz store...

    BUT MOST OF ALL:

The answers to the questions you want to know.

    ....

So keep an eye here and lets make this our hang out post. Keep asking anything you want.

    Also...

Join me on YouTube in the comments section below the videos and that will help give me some love from YouTube's search engine while we work together to get this tiny channel off the ground. :) Plus... if the moderators here think your response is too risky, they will remove it. I won't do that over there. If it is on your mind, share it. But be respectful. You can tell me you don't like my art but you can't insult my mother. Make sense?

    Okay. Here we go!

Great initiative, Charlene! I hope more PAs find the time to do this. I'd certainly love to see and understand how different PAs work and produce their content. Thank you for your efforts. yes

I've just watched your intro video as well and will be watching what else you put up too as soon as I can get some spare minutes to string together. I love the way you've taken the Fear Monster by the throat and bitten him back, but from what I've seen so far, he had absolutely nothing on you anyway - you're doing great (and you look lovely too)! Well done, that woman :)

Just watched all your videos and subscribed.  You have nothing to fear, the way you deliver information in such a clear, concise manner is fantastic!  You could definitely be an event speaker.  Look forward to see what comes next for you,  thank you so much for putting this information out there for the rest of us!

Hi Charlene, great set of videos and informative, you did great!!

Curious, with what you said about how much time is involved in development and having such a tight schedule, what the motivation for this initiative is since it surely will cut into development time and I can't see any direct monetary incentive from it.

Having done game addons for several communties and some freelance 3D work for a few game studios, I can relate to quite a bit of what you expressed in your videos, especially keeping focused with all the distractions around me and on the internet, LOL

I have a big question for you though Charlene, I have a major interest in Morphs and how they are made??

I would like to make my own Morphs (Charactors) but do not know how to go about it, I think it has to do with deformers but too sure of that.

So learning all about Morphing would of interest to me and what I would ask my Pocket PA!!!

I have watched vids on creating charactors from photos but the person already had the morphing set from daz shop I do belive it was V7 morphs but I think I would like to make my own Morping set as money is tight for me personally.

Awesome videos can't wait to see more!

  • Good morning!

Wow thank you for the lovely comments and the warm feedback. That made my day and now I'm ready to go even further.

    Introducing Daily Do!

    I've done two things:

1 - I've told you what I am doing today. This means you now have an idea of what more is to come. Not all of these videos can be smoothly edited masterpieces. When it comes to getting into the detail of this work, you'll just be better off pulling up a chair and sitting next to me as this stuff gets done. It won't be polished but it will be real.

Note: Sometimes I can't ship a how to video as soon as it is ready. If the content I am creating is a commission, for example, that is covered under NDA and I will hold off on posting that video until the product is in the store. I'll let you know when this happens.

2 - I've asked you a question: Do you think a live webinar would be useful to you so that you can see from start to finish how I make a brokered environment set? Think before you respond and remember: This stuff takes -hours- to make and can be quite repetitive to watch. You tell me what you might find useful and I'll do everything I can to deliver in a format you prefer.

Exception: I know some people prefer to learn with reading or written word. My deepest apologies here but I couldn't even try to keep up with that request. I can record what I am making for production while I am making it but I don't have justification for the time cost involved in turning these projects into book or blog format.

    Keep those questions coming!

@saphirewild - As you wish. :) It's on the list and I rig every week so I can show you how this is done. The video will go out as soon as it is ready.

    @barbult - Thank you. *blush*

@firstbastion - Excellent! Glad to see you here.

@FSMCDesigns - It is weird, isn't it? But truly... I am not making any money from this. All I am doing is recording what I already have on my plate anyway. From now on if you want to know how it is done, just ask me. I won't just tell you. I will show you. If I don't know, I will tell you that, then learn it and then show you anyway. :)

This is all so incredibly generous of you. I can only imagine the number of hours many of us will collectively save by not fumbling around with trial and error "learn by guessing." Thank you so much for doing this!

  • Wow awesome videos and bery generous of you to share all your knowledge. Thank you!

A live Webinar would be awesome !

  • FSMCDesignsFSMCDesigns Posts: 12,843

Another nice video, and I can totally relate on the "to do" and "DO" distinction, LOL.

A webinar would be of little benefit to me based on the time involved on both sides. I am already a modeler and game modder and can probably relate to much of your workflow. With your new initiative to share info, if I ever get to a point where i want to develop items specificially for DS, I will be sure to ask away. Until then it's just nice to get an insight into a PAs world, so thanks for that.

  • Awesome videos.  I've watched them all.  I thought they were very informative and you are easy to sit and listen to.  :)

As for the webinar type setup, it would be nice, but I'll be honest, as much as I would enjoy watching it, I just don't have time.  My life is crazy busy all the time.  Now, a speed lapsed version, yeah, I might find time and enjoy watching something like that, especially if it were edited so that there was a voice over or slowed down at key points when there was something you wanted to emphasize in your workflow.  That would actually be kind of helpful.
That's just me, though.  I'm sure others have different opinions.

I have to say it's a great start.  I've subscribed and will continue watching.  :)

I would just be happy to watch anything you're willing to share :).

Perhaps mini-tuts would be more feasible versus a fullblown webinar. The tuts could build on themselves, so that over time, you take people through the entire process, even if it is something simpler than one of your for-hire creations.

  • algovincianalgovincian Posts: 2,664

Well, I can appreciate your desire to *not* spend additional time writing tuts, editing video, etc. I would definitely enjoy seeing your workflow (raw & unedited) from start to finish, should you decide to share it.

For me, watching someone else explain their workflow is both insightful and a break from my own work. As to the time, I will play back videos at 1.5-2x speed typically so that helps a lot with the time commitment issue. With that I'm able to watch someone else work and pick up valuable information even when much of it might be 'review' or information I've already been through*. So yes, I'm interested in looking over your shoulder, definately. :)

(*What you've covered so far is new to me as I haven't tackled submitting work yet to DAZ but I hope to **soon.) ;)
