Solar Vagabonds for G2M Why Is It So Large?

So with the crazy sales going on I'm finally able to pick up the Solar Vagabonds for Genesis 2 Male(s) (mainly for that scarf really). But when I look it up in DIM the files add up to a total of 3.3G???! That makes me a bit uneasy since I  don't have too much space left on my harddrive and if every item in the near future is going the larger direction I'm afraid I'll have to refrain from purchasing anything until I know the file size.

That said, is there any chance that, as a customer, we can get the size of the items before the purchase? Also, is it possible to get a smaller version of some products that are just too huge? Maybe it's doable to mannually resize the texutres but it's going to be a pain if I have to do that to every item purchased that comsumes 3G or more disk space.

Because it has 399 4096x4096 texture files associated with it. I've not noticed a single product that had that many before.

    The product page says:

399 Texture, Specular, Glossy, and Normal Maps (4096 x 4096)

That's a lot of texture files. If they are not very compressed, that could be the issue.

Textures are very hi Rez. I usually don't use them the pa has a lot of mat zones making shading it a breeze

So it is the texture maps? The set itself is nice so I guess I'll have to resize those maps once the download is finished. Thanks guys.

yeah, they are the texture maps. What is odd, is that they aren't all that exciting. Resizing them works, as does re-shading. This is one of my favorite body suits. The pa did a nice job of modeling it.

They're probably jpgs so lets hope thet they're NOT saved with high compression.

I know when I have the set loaded  at full size Studio chokes when I try to pose the figure. It is just too memory intensive to use.

Turns out the texture maps alone take 3.19G out of my limited space. I guess it's time to start GIMP to lower the resolution a bit...
