I don't think you fully understand the issues here. The entire reason the DSON format was created was to get a fully functional Genesis into Poser. Poser and DS use different weight mapping systems, which is the reason for all of this in the first place. The Importer allows Poser to use the DS weightmapped files.
And no one here knows whether one company plans to adapt to the other's weightmapping system. But DSON makes that technically unnecessary, so I seriously doubt it.
Wow! Amazing as I got lost in time, and then everything about Genesis outdated for me.
A few minutes ago, I bought V3 and M3 Shapes for Genesis, and so now the old clothes M3 are fited for genesis, without any problem, then just create poserCF AND ALL IS WELL.
Now, another question:
When I bought genesis is Neanderthal, it came with "M4_UVS"
I wanted to know: Where do I buy a M3_UVS to Genesis?
There is no UVset for Genesis for the 3rd generation figures; the splitting of the maps is too different.

Is there a way to convert Generation 3 UVs to Generation 4? Because if you could do that, then I assume you could then use them on Genesis.

Hmm! Because I wanted to use some textures M3 in genesis ... And as I have the M4 UV set that came with the Neanderthal, which allows me to use all the textures I have for M4 in genesis.
You would need to use something like http://www.daz3d.com/texture-convertor-2-tc2 to convert the 3rd generation maps to 4th generation.
Wow!!!
I'll buy it now, even!
Hold on, now occurred to me doubts:
http://www.daz3d.com/texture-convertor-2-tc2 buying this, I'll be able to convert the textures for M4?
and also have to buy the plugin for M4, ALSO?
OR NOT ... I'm kinda confused!
While this can seem expensive at first, you get your moneys worth since you're able to re-use most of your older textures to work fine on the newer figures.
No, unlike Dawn, there is no DS version and Poser version. AFAIK, DAZ has no intentions of creating DS and Poser compatible versions of current or future figures.
Right now you have two choices: the DSON importer or the cr2 importer. The cr2 exporter is not a hack. In fact, until DAZ came up with importer, it was their official way of getting Genesis into Poser. It's not perfect but then neither is the importer. Both have their issues. Both have their good points. For us, the importer proved to impede workflow so we continued to use our original methods. What works for one does not always work for another.
The DSON may work fine for you. My suggestion is to pick up the DSON importer. It's showing as free for me but I don't know if that's just for PC members. You will get the Genesis Starter and Poser Companion Files as well as the Genesis 2 Female and Male Stater and PCF's. Install the importer to Poser and install the Genesis Stater and PCF's to a separate runtime and point the Poser Library at it. Play with and see if it works for you. If it does, great. If you find it doesn't work and you actually had to pay for the importer, you can return it within the 30 days for a refund. That way you aren't out any money.
This is the best I can suggest for you. If you find Genesis and the G2's work with importer, you can then by the Gen 5 and 6 morphs. Gen 5 figures are really morphs for Genesis and Gen 6 females are morphs for Genesis 2 Female and Gen 6 males are morphs for Genesis 2 males.
tc2 doesn't do the gens maps, ... i don't think. but it's better than nothing :)

TC2 can be purchased 2 ways: the app or the bundle. The app is just the convertor. The bundle has the convertor and the plugins for V3, A3 and V4. M4 is a separate plugin. There is also a tattoo plugin for V4. The Second Life avatar plugin appears to have been pulled from the market.
Also be aware that the vendor has ceased making any further add on products so what is in the store is pretty much all there is.
I'm not finding the D3 or the M3 plugins. Are they still in the store?
mil 3 all use the same uvs. i set m3 skins as V3 to V4 or M4.
but i don't point to the pose files, i point to the jpgs directly.
it's a nice feature that it will set up the pose files for you. Wish it could do all the make-up options in the one go, too.
Yeah, but there used to be a D3 and M3 plugin in the store. Were they removed because they were redundant?
And unlike using DSON Importer for Poser you are required to use DAZ Studio, which the OP doesn't want to do.
So to answer the Original post, you can not use Genesis, Genesis 2 Female, or Genesis 2 Male in Poser without DSON or DS.
The M3 and D3 add on was a single product. I have it listed in my product library but it seems to have been pulled from the store the same as the SL add on.
While the Gen3's can use the same textures, the nipples and lips don't match up between when applying a female texture to a male. Same holds true the other way around. There's also stretching and distortion.
I figured the SL avatar add on was pulled as a result of the changes in SL and LL. I hadn't noticed the missing M3/D3 add on until now. Wonder why it was pulled.

I didn't think calling your original method a "hack" was polite. Besides, DAZ_Rand almost booted me from the forums for even insinuating that the cr2 export method was a "hack". I still don't see why pointing out that their is more than one way to do something is such a big deal. One of your own PA's even wrote a tutorial which you still sell here in the store.

Unfortunately you can't do everything with the exporter you can with DSON. Besides the clothing not working well, the subdivision is different; Poser's implementation is missing the edge weighted creasing (i think that's what it's called) so detailed morphs will not look the same. You also can't use HD with this method; JoePublic did a screenshot of the subdivision results on rendo's forum and the results are very different, especially when you try to apply the HD morphs using Poser's subdivision. Also if you're using Poser 9/2012, there is no subdivision, so you will just be working with the low poly version of genesis, though you may get it to look slightly better by tweaking the smoothing.

Your statement, that the CR2 exporter is not a hack, right after talking about both of them, implies that the DSON Importer for Poser is a hack, when that is the preferred method, by Smith Micro, to build plug-ins for Poser.
The DSON for Poser Importer is the preferred way to get TriAx figures into Poser, now. Smith Micro made that possible beginning with Poser 9/2012 SR3 and later, which was not released until over a year after Genesis was released. (If I recall correctly, it is about an 18 month difference.)
Because this "auto-fit" Daz not conform hair and beards, M3, M4, in Genesis?
I have some beards M4 and quite beards mustaches and hair M3 ...
Here is a package of beard for genesis, and already has a PoserCF ...

but I wanted to save my money ...

I'm a bit confused. I specifically stated that the exporter was not a hack and I did not at any point state or imply that I thought the DSON importer was a hack. It's plugin plain and simple. Please point out to me where I indicated that I stated or even implied that the importer was a hack. To my understanding from long term use of both Poser and DS, that when DS4 and Genesis was created there was first the cr2 export method to get Genesis into Poser and then the DSON importer.
Yes, I did state that we hacked the exported cr2's once they were created to fix issues that needed fixing. But that is no different than hacking any other Poser file to fix issues.
We have no knowledge of what SMS prefers (actually I think if their preference would be that Poser users just went with their included content but just being facetious here...)
No, everything sold in the store isn't the newest or the greatest but that does make that which isn't the latest and greatest less useable?
Out of curiosity, if the cr2 exporter fails to live up to it's function, why is it still part of the app? Does it serve some other function I don't understand? I am not trying to be smart here, I am curious. I'm not coder beyond knowing the basics of Python coding to get Poser to do some very basic things I need it to do.
The CR2 exporter works fine for, and is useful for creators of, legacy-rigged content.

I wanted to know:
this converter will convert male textures for a female figure?
For example, texture M4 to V4?

Thanks for that!
I ended up buying it, and I'm now doing my first tests it
I'm loving it.
Just use Photoshop
I think this thread needs to be locked since it just got necro'd. There's a lot of old and now incorrect information that will confuse people if they start posting again. Let' not dig up 2 year old threads and start posting in them.
