Great new releases today! If these will work well in DS, then you may soon become one of my favorite PAs, Tom! :)))

  • With too many purchases recently I'll look forward to the DS releases and a hopefully better supply of hobby money.  The latest releases look great, but a question/request.  Poser went through some scale changes that made life difficult in the past.  There are also scale consistency issues with a few other vendor's otherwise fine groupings.  I hope a DS release is at the appropriate and consistent scale.

(Note: I took out the block closest to the river in the previous series of images I posted and replaced it with #6. I didn't notice that it's missing all it's textures. That's true for Blocks 3 & 4 (I don't have 1 and 2) - no textures when loaded into DS. I uninstalled and reinstalled but still no textures loading. The textures are in the runtime, so something isn't right and I've submitted a help ticket.)

Problem solved with the help of Daz tech support. Blocks 3-4 load into DS without materials. To add them, load the block, select both parts of it in the Scene Tab, select all the surfaces in the Surface Tab, go to Content Directory and navigate to Poser Formats/My DAZ 3D Library/Materials/Dreamland Models/03 Low Poly Three and click on the Default icon. That loads all the materials in their proper places. Save that as a Support Asset/Scene Asset and it will now load with textures.

The same procedure also works for the Movie Sets: River Front. Here's an updated view of one of my previous renders showing Low Poly Block 3 (on the right) with it's textures, the roads, sidewalks, and grass using the default textures, and the Summer Sky texture applied to the skydome. Much better. So yes, this set can definitely be used in Daz Studio with a little bit of texture mapping and reducing the specular settings if some surfaces are too bright..

    Hi All,

Some my not even be aware that I am selling here at Daz 3D,  so I wanted to give you an official hello.

I have an entire line of products that were built for Poser and 9 of them have been released into my store.

My long range plan is to release all my City Block products here for Poser. That is the program I know.

Once I am comfortable with Daz Studio I plan to release a Daz version for each one.

Then as time permits I will be releasing new products as well.

At least that is the plan for now. It my change it may not but that is what my thinking it at the moment.

Thanks for your time and comments.

    Tom

I saw those! I've bought 3 of them already. I had them on my Rendo wishlist but bought them here instead... This is awesome news. I love your city sets and use them extensively for the old town part of the city in my comic (Liberty Lass).

For those who may not have tried it, I have had very good results doing automatic Iray conversions using the conversion script on these sets with almost no other tweaking required.  *A few* of the textures have trouble holding up under extreme close-ups but for normal use, these things look just as good in Iray as they do in 3DeLight or Firefly.

    EDIT:

This page uses several of the City Sets, converted to Iray using auto-convert. Look pretty darn good IMO.

re: "...I have had very good results doing automatic Iray conversions using the conversion script..."

This conversion script - is it something included with DL's products sold on THIS site?   Is it avaolable over at the other store, for those of who hwo purchased there?  Thanks for any insight - Ray

It comes with DAZ 4.8 and above by default. Under Shaders there is an Iray section, and the !IrayUberBase shader, if you apply it, will auto-convert stuff to default Iray settings.  I usually ctrl-click and tell it to ignore images so it retains the old diffuse image jpegs and whatnot.

My understanding is, if you do not do this, but just hit render with 3DL surfaces, Iray will do this conversion automatically as the first step of the render. But I always apply the Iray shader anyway to convert things over. This then allows me to tweak surfaces if I want to.

Hey just started reading, and can't stop.  Really good stuff!

  • Hi All,

I am sorry I have not been posting answers to all of you, but I am working very hard to finish,

    Movie Sets: City Block 01

It is a full City Block with lots of detail.

Did not realize how much work it would be to reply to each post in here.

I simply do not have the time to keep up with it.

I am looking at the thread but most likely will not be responding to all the posts.

Thank you all for your support in here. It means a lot to me!

Here is another Poser render of the Poser version.

    Regards, Tom

Welllllcom Tom,  Got one set bookmarked now. I could use a few in Carrara 8.5 Pro. Nice modeling!

I started a thread (Exploring Dreamland in DAZ Studio) in Art Studio to capture my learnings about using the Poser only Dreamland Products in Daz Studio. I'm working my way through various features and explain how to adapt where needed. So far I discuss creating categories for easy access, adding default textures, using the camera and pose presets, and using some of the River Front parameter dials. My next post will be about using the power poles.

  • Any plans on transferring your Goodman's Grocery Store over to DAZ3D? If so, is it a functional building or just for show?

What do you mean by functional?

Doors open? Maybe empty space for me to put in shelves and food and checkout lanes? Change the texture of the windows so one can see in or out?

Oh, okay. That is in a set with no interiors.

Would have to model the building over again to do so.

    Sorry.

Thanks for your interest is my products Barefoot.

I like the RDNA Atmospherics Lightning, It's an actual object that you can apply an iray light shader to.

Also check out RDNA Atmospherics - Fog Vol 1  RDNA Atmospherics - Rain Vol 2 also free.  Cool I should be able to use all 3 in Carrara even if I need to adjust a few shader settings.
