Does anyone know of a good looking, freebie bird? I'd prefer realistic, ala not Sione's Mascot Bird, and it can be either posable or realistic. I'd also prefer a songbird type, but that's a passerine dream. :)

Well ... realistic, but not songbird:

I don't know if this suggestion would work for you, but here it is (for what it's worth):

AprilYSH has a Horsetail Hair morphing prop (available at http://shop.aprilsvanity.com/-free-items/horsetail-hair-model-textures/prod_45.html). It's a freebie, and it even includes fits for just about any figure you can imagine (although that hair on the Millennium Baby is disturbing on so many levels!).

You might be able to combine it with another hair prop, say a bob or other short style, to produce the look in the image.

It is nice hair, but it is not quite what I'm looking for, and would require some serious tweaking to make it look right. :( On the other hand, I might have gotten the textures on Strike Ponytail right, so maybe I won't need to go looking for a different hair...

Maybe this one will work for you:

Already tried that, thanks. :) I ended up snagging Addition Hairstyle, as it had heavy discount slapped on it. Mifuyu is nice, but it has some problems getting it tuned right. :/

    Hi there,

I am trying to download the Spiral Twin Tail for BJD (pink hair style) under Studio Maya new free stuff, but get a "404 Not found" message at this link:
    http://www.3digitalcrafts.net/studiomaya/crbst_6.html

When I try to send them a message via their contact it's also not working, giving me another message stating:
Error: No php on the server. What is that meaning? I am not so literate with all these meanings! How can one let them know that the zip is not working otherwise?

I am also looking for these but many are not working, i.e. another Spiral Twin Tail, Simple Hair, Rasta Style:
    http://www.3digitalcrafts.net/studiomaya/1download/wig1/wig3.html

And specially this one, Male Short Cut:
    http://www.3digitalcrafts.net/studiomaya/1download/wig1/wig4.html

Are there any other free hair that is styled as the Male Short Cut (upright style as in attached image) available?

Thank you for any help! :)

EDIT: Chohole, I have no idea why this thread is not lying under Freebie requests. I specially went there to add it there, but it appears under General Freepozitory! Sorry about this but I can't explain it.

    Kind regards,

    Laura

    Laura,
Try here for the Male Short Cut hair. Be patient give archive a little time to bring the file down. I just downloaded it so it is still available.

Does anyone know where I can find a ship/galley type prop for a fantasy setting. I've found part of a deck, but the entire ship would be useful.

    Hi Lonnie,

Thank you so much for this link. It seems this is the link to the old Studio Maya site which I still remember. With the help of the WayBackMachine I have managed to download all the older items! And Richard, don't worry, this is only for personal use since I am a pensioner doing art in my free time to relax! :-)

    Have a great day!

    Kind regards,

    Laura

Do those work in Daz? I should have mentioned that I'm using DS.

As long as it is not in 3DS scene format, but simple .3ds, you can open it in Hexagon (free, get it from DAZ site) and save as object or send to DAZ Studio.

Site change tossed the poor Creeper into the "TODO" pile. That is, the freebie archive may return in some form (or so we were told), but it is right now kinda the least of concerns, I'd guess... I don't know if the Wayback Machine aka archive.org has an archive of that.

  • edited December 1969

Nope. The Wayback Machine was successfully and apparently intentionally fended off with a redirect to a "No Free Access" page. Which makes me sad, of course.

Apparently the old freebie archive was held on a sub domain, Dazfree.com. which is why it has not been archived at the moment alongside the old forum archive.

Thx Vaskania. But looking for something a little more threatening looking. Animal heads a tribe might wear to scare or ward off their enemies - or to establish individual importance within the tribe.

But again, thanks for taking the time to reply.

NEONnyc, Lynn of Lynn's Creations has many animal morphs and characters, wolf, wild cats, moose, long horn cows. They are whole animals but with some tweaking ie making parts invisible and some transmaps you could create your head masks. Here is her site:

Dollygirl: Thanks for the link (haven't been there in a while) and for your suggestions. Maybe that process is what I'll have to do. Also found some wild animal links in the Commons section,

Looking for a feather. Not just any feather mind. I require an ostrich feather. Something big and glorious, like what they had on fans. Or maybe on a hat, if it was huge enough. Preferably at little curled at the end, but as long as it's not attached to an ostrich it'll be fine.
Don't mind if it's not free or if it comes with something else.

Looking for a small padlock. A simple brass one would do for what I want. (I've got a garotte post with a metal collar but no pin or padlock to secure the hasp.)

I grabbed them, but they're not quite what I need. The end needs to be bigger, thicker.

Assassin_21, This might work but you will have to fiddle with it. It is the squirrel tail addon to the house mouse. It is jointed so you could make you feather go any which way and you can size each of the sections. Maybe alot of work but hey it is free. Here is the link.

I could not resist trying out my own advice. Here is the result of my "tweaking".
This what I did to the tail in DAZ3D 3A.
    Section Scale Rotation
Name Scale, X, Y, Z Bend, Sway, Twist
    tail1 10,0,0,0 0,0,0
    tail2 10,0,0,0 0,0,0
    tail3 10,0,0,0 0,0,0
    tail4 10,0,0,0 0,0,0
    tail5 10,0,0,0 0,0,0
    tail6 20,0,0,0 0,0,0
    tail7 0,200,0,0 0,0,0
    tail8 0,200,0,0 0,0,0
    tail9 125,200,0,0 -53.01,0,0
    tail10 130,150,5,150 -53.52,0,0
    tail11 10,10,10,10 -99.67,-16.31,5.05

Put the Bushy trans map in the Bump at 100% strength, -0.15, 0.18 and removed the diffuse map.
Yellow in picture is from the Ubersoft lights I used.

Not perfect but I think I will be using it in some of my renders.
