Buttom Shortcuts for Common Commands

Is there a way to create clickable buttons to enact macros, or actions already native to DAZ Studio? I have some commonly used commands (such as edit > figure > restore > restore seclected item(s) pose) that I would like to simplify for sime saving and convenience purposes.

Thanks!

  • Window>Workspace>Customise. Open the Tool Bars tab on the right and find the tool bar you want to use (or right-click to create a new one), then find the commands on the left and drag them into the tool bar. If they don't already have icons create one, then right-click on the command in the left hand panel and add the icon.

  • Personally, I am against the idea of cluttering my toolbars with too many icons especially when some of the actions do not have any associated icons. I could have saved hours of effort if Daz provided a keyboard shortcut for zeroing a selected figure's pose/shape. I would rather be contended with a keyboard shortcut in most cases.

    However, there is a file "actions.dsx" under "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4" which contains command shortcuts as:

    <Action Accel="Ctrl+N" Class="DzNewAction" ShowTextWithIcon="false"/>

    I haven't tried modifying that file manually but I am willing to experiment if someone from Daz attests that modifying it is safe (i.e. not overwritten when adding commands/action through the studio).

    You don't need to hack the .dsx file, Window > Workspace > Customize will let you add or change keyboard shortcuts, you don't need to put them on toolbars.

    Thanks a ton.

  • Thanks for the reply! I will try that shortly - great!

    You can also add content to the Custom Actions. Right-click any thumbnail in the content pane and choose 'Create Custom Action'. You'll find your new action in the Customize pane under Custom Actions. You can then add a shortcut to it, or drag it onto a toolbar. (You can give new toolbar buttons icons too).

    It's very handy for frequently used content, like a Genesis figure, MATs, light presets, etc. Or even entire scenes.

    One of Daz Studio's great virtues = custom interface.
