This program is bringing out the worst in me already. First it crashed inside of ten minutes (Windows 10, for the curious),

Yea, it crashed for me too in Win 10 within a few minutes, not sure what I did. Earlier versions were also crash prone if you did something wrong, like clicking the wrong button at the wrong time, but otherwise they were reasonably stable. It does have autosave though so you won't lose a lot of work if you use that.

  • Hmm, I'm using Windows 10 and, so far, I haven't had a single crash issue.

On a side note: has anyone tried this in Windows 8.1 or knows definitively that it will or won't work in 8.1?

I once tried 3.0 in Win 8.1 but it behaved oddly in some respects, like the viewport going blank when doing certain things. Nothing of this seems to happen with 4.0 in Win 8.1, so I guess it works allright, though I haven't tried any modeling, just importing the V4 obj and moving it a bit around.

Not sure what the DS scale mode is for - V4 was just a tiny dot at the center of the screen and I couldn't find any way to get her up in normal size.

Also does anyone know if Pegasus Modeler 2.0 is 32 bit?

I don't think any of them is 64 bit, 4.0 also installed in the x86 folder.

Thanks for that info Taozen, I should have asked 12 hours earlier then I did rather then trying to find out for myself. Now the two will cost me $36 not $27 if I go for them. Never mind.

Why would you want both 4.0 and 2.0? In any case, there'll probably be a catchup sale so you might get the discount anyway.

I'm still running some old laptops with 7/8th gen CPUs and XP so I'm guessing I'm better off to use 2.0 or 3.0 on one of them but my desktops are 8.1 so the latest for my main graphics machine (the product page for Pegasus 4 only lists Win 7 and 10 in the requirements for some reason?).

Yeah, will see how the catch ups go if they happen. I'm sure there will be no shortage of things to drop bucks on and Pegasus is but a whim :)

Yeah, after reading all of these reports, I think I'll wait until they issue new serial numbers before I buy it...

My serial number worked fine, it's actually the same as for 3.0, AFAIR it's the same for all versions.

I wouldn't know what that was, either. I'm just now finding out about this tech and just interested in trying it out.

I think he skipped a version for Win 8.1, maybe because it wasn't very popular, but Win 8.1 has more in common with Win 10 than with Win 7 I think so maybe that's why Pegasus 4.0 apparently works in Win 8.1 while Pegasus 3.0 doesn't.

There are a bunch of video tutorials in a directory where the software was installed call "tutorial" as well.  Look for C:\Program Files (x86)\3D Utils\Pegasus4\tutorial on your computer or where you installed if not in the default directory.

    There are videos for:

Getting Started (useful if you've never used Pegasus before as it shows how to move around)
    Grouping
    Modeling
    Modeling Basics
    WhatisNew

I'm still working my way through the videos and just finished up the getting started videos.  All of those videos are in .flv format so you'll need a .flv viewer.  I found a free one called Wimpy.  It has both a PC and Mac version.  I'm sure there are tons of other viewers out there.

  • I found the included video tutorials on my hard drive under Program Files (x86)/3D Utils/Pegasus4/Tutorial

  • I had no issues at all with the serial number so it must have been fixed when I bought it last night. and thank you for the link to the tutorials, I just got it loaded last night and was too tired to actually watch the videos lol.

There are links to Youtube tutorials on the store page, showing some of the new tools.

  • Thanks!  I've found 'em!

I'm glad it worked for you. I wish it could have worked on my machine without crashing the instant I tried anything, as I had high hopes for it. Daz were very prompt in processing my refund, but I would rather have had the program working in the first place because there was a lot I wanted to do. I'd love to see what everybody's creating.

  • Just checked and saw that the whole serial number is in my account.  Now to download and install it and look at it.

I'm still working my way through the tutorials, but I hope to have something out of it soon.  We'll see.  It's a shame you couldn't get it working.

So, if I want to create something for genesis 3 what do I upload into pegasus?

Can anyone tell me where the tutorial Modeling Clothes for Poser and Daz Studio Using Pegasus is? It is supposed to be included but I can't find it.

I can look tomorrow when I am more rested.  I am trying to figure out if it can be installed by DIM or just manual and also about Izabella 7.

I found it thank you - you have to open the software and go to help tutorials :)

I like that the tutorials start with the most basic of baby steps.

Sometimes you have right click and choose Run as Administrator when you start a program. Then enter your serial number and it will be remembered then. It can't write to the registry if you don't, even if you account is an administrator.

I can understand that. Was wondering if failure to do this would have caused the crashing with 'snap to face' and 'snap to vertex' too. Just curious.

Wow!  Thank you!  I was going to start pulling my hair out after about a dozen tries. blush  Should have thought of that one.  As a side note, I would recommend you only Run As Administrator the first time when you enter your serial number.  After that it won't be necessary as the change has already been made.

BTW, I was wondering what .obj file(s) I should be using to create models for Genesis 3 Female/Male?  Is it one of the ones in /My Library/runtime/geometries/DazPeople/  ?  Or should I export a base resolution model from Daz and load that in?

Sorry for the newbie question, but I've only used Hexagon and since that's unlikely to be upgraded, I'm walking into new territory. :D

Open the software and go to help - tutorials and there you will find links to Genesis 3 tutorials :)

  • Hello Everyone:

Just started really getting into Pegasus. I keep having a problem with zoom though. When I use the mouse wheel to zoom, I get either a view that is decently far away or crazy zoomed in. I can never seem to get something between the two. For example, In the first image, you can see a view of a foot (maybe a shoe one day). When I move the mouse wheel one click, the second picture (really zoomed in happens). Eventually, the zoom just goes back out and I see the back side of model (image 3). Just not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Jason

Press Alt + right mouse button, move mouse sideways.

I seem to have noticed a bug btw (Windows 8) - if you switch to another app using Alt + Tab, and then switch back to Pegasus, the context menus don't work anymore. Anyone else experiencing this?
