So, here is my latest. Over 24 hours of render time! I did my best to keep it forum friendly, but still get the image I wanted. I wasn't too sure so after my render was done I put a thong on him and I must have done good because you can't see any of the thong. I'm seriously thinking of doing a few more images with him as I really like how he turned out, but they'll have to go on my DA page as they definitely won't be gallery friendly. I don't have any of my nudes up on my DA page so I suppose it's time to add some. This is my own character based on the Darius figure by playing with some of the morph dials and I added in some aging with Zev0's Aging Morphs 2 for Genesis 2 Males. Name wise, I wasn't too unique and I named him Marius.
He looks quite handsome I love the use of color, and his mature appearence. It is funny, but I just bought the bedding set and did a render as well.
Thanks, Serene! I just saw your comment in the gallery, too. :) I look forward to seeing what you did with yours. I found the I had to tone down the green and white pillows just a bit as they kept getting washed out with the lighting and tone mapping I used, but that was a quick fix. Other than that, the bedding was straight out of the box. Jepe does really great work. I did have to tweak the pose, but that's normal for all poses.
NICE! He's gorgeous! We don't get to see enough darker skin characters. I wish he wasn't sneering though - makes him look a little bit mean. I don't know whether to find him sexy or a bit intimidating ...maybe both? lol
Maybe he was a little grumpy as I woke him to take his picture? I don't know. I seem to have this thing for the grim expressions. I just can't seem to get happy to look quite like I want them to look. Grim is so much easier to dial in.

Great lighting and bedding. I find it really difficult to correctly light dark skins and I'm rather envious
That being said, would be interesting to see how a little backlighting would effect the image.
I find happy faces look really odd on daz characters, most of the time.
Thanks! The bedding is Jepe's BeddingZ for Genesis 2 Males. I tried to get some back lighting in there, but it just wasn't working with the way I had the set. I would have had to hide the ceiling and I kind of needed that. I think this is one of those times when I need to try and experiment more with canvases so I can split out different parts to render separately. I may redo it at some point soon and try to do a version with the hair highlighted. I just learned how to do canvases and I'm still not even completely sure I know what to do with everything in post, but I'm learning.
edit to add: This is the best I've managed to do with dark skin to date. Darius 6 skin with a couple of slight modifications to the surface settings (I'll have to check what I changed) and I used IG Iray Essentials - Darius 6 that came out as a Christmas gift last year from InaneGlory. Lighting was Promo Style Catch Lights by ForbiddenWhispers with some adjustments to make it work with my scene. It has a unique setup that I was interested to see how it worked. I don't know if any of the lighting would transfer to Octane since I don't know anything about how you do that.
I do kind of agree about the happy faces. For whatever reason, smile often look diabolical or sims-like. I don't think the technology is there yet with faces yet, especially on the guys.
Okay here was my latest one. When I saw this pose in jepe's pack for Gen 2 Male, I had to convert it and try it out. It was just too unusual of a pose not to attempt it.
I saw that in the gallery last night or early this morning! Very nice, Serene Night! You did a really great job! I saw that pose and I thought that was the weirdest pose in the bunch and not figure out how that could be realistic, but you made it work.
My first thought was "oh my!!". My next thought was, "I hope he's getting paid big money for such an uncomfortable pose"

@knittingmommy - I haven't tried iray lighting in octane, yet. One day... Callad, over at DA, has some interesting reality mesh lighting. It works in octane, it may work in iray.

Damn, I don't know why, but in this pose and with this look, the guy reminds me of an arrogant male cat. Only they will take on such a pose and look at your with this "I'm a cat, that's higher in rank than a human" look.
Just beautiful colors and details. Love his headphones, the piercing (is it?) in the belly and the contrast between blue and orange. The lighting is perfect. Wonderfully done, Serene Night!

there are several fun ones I have never noticed before in the set but you have to do a fair amount of adjusting. The pillows for example are one clump so posing a single one requires hiding the others. The set is on sale right now though. I intend to try rendering them all. I like the challenge of unusual posing.
Great comment! Yeah he does look like he is satisfied with himself and showing off how limber he is which he most likely is since he is genetically enhanced. The piercing is a cybernetic implant. He has three one on the back of his neck one in his temple and one there. It is horribly impractical since its location requires constant adjustment when the waist bends and sometimes I forget the durn thing altogether.
The pose looks better without the duvet but I figured it might be a bit much for the forums.. :-) . You can't really lie in that position without anatomical elements even covered ones being prominent.
I thought it looked like the head of a screw... I even titled the image "Screwed" in my head... (Anyone else remember those odd little statues with sayings on the pedastal? The one I thought of when I saw this image was the little guy with a big industrial screw all the way through, and "Screwed Again!" on the pedastal...)
@Serene Night You do know that there are morphs in the bedding that match the figure poses, right? Just checking...

Ooh, just saw there's an M4 version for Poser too. And a bundle with both. And I still have my PC/PA coupons.
I've noticed seeing a whole lot more ads featuring the guys when I'm out and about online. Just this past week, I saw 3 different ads with male figures in them. I certainly hope the trend continues.
You need to use the specific sheets and pillows that go with the pose. Its a little confusing. But there should be a correct set with morphs to go with the pose.

@Divamakeup: It is a cybernetic implant. He has 3. One is on his temple, the other on the back of his neck, and that one. I'm not entirely sure what that one is for though, it came with a set for female cyborgs on rendo. I'm sure it is meant to be sexy... It is a very impractical location for a cyborg, but it sure makes an interesting conversation piece.

This turned out rather odd, I think. @Serene Night , I don't think he knows what he's doing lol I add something to the image, wander off and watch tv. Add or remove something, put the dogs out for a toilet break. Add or removee something else and more tv... 5 hours of "wandering and adding/removing" later, I figured I really should render it. I've had dreams like that about showing up to work in my underwear. They never turn out well. The dreams that is. I've never actually shown up to work in my underwear! :) I do like the whole socks with the underwear look! Great image!
