Hey, thanks for this. I was kinda worried when cyberfox said that they didn't have the problem. But I couldn't think of what I would have done to mess it up.
At least we have a temporary fix till it's offically done. Maybe I should p.m. Thorne so that they are aware of the issue.
Again, thanks!
I am extremely anal with this, yes you are correct however, I was referring to the hair texture settings rather than the skin, as that is simple enough to remedy, the texture I used in this pic was using Cailin's skin texture I also used a diffuse overlay weights to lighten the skin further as I have the translucency up quite high...Plus, I shouldn't have used a yellow light when showcasing her skin
Oh, I wasn't talking about your particularly image. I just mean that hairs always come with all of the usual natural colours in some form or another, but not all textures work with all hairs so the skin is much more the defining factor than hair for me. Julie's obviously intended to have ginger or at least auburn hair, just like old Julie.
Greetings,
Heh; not enough pictures... I had fun with this; I actually put this together using a custom mix of Haley, Josie, and a smidge of Julie 7, BUT I then dialed it back to just Julie 7 to see how it looked and...well, frankly, it looked better. I did the closeup because the lighting I used had a 'closeup' camera, so I Thought I'd give it a try. WOW she looks good in the closeup! The lip (which looks kinda absurd in preview) is really not anywhere near the issue in the final render. Don't forget to click through on both for the full resolution.

I'd be curious to know if the others with the same problem also did a manual install. As it is, this would seem to highlight one of the really painful things about DAZ's deadset intent on shoving DAZ Connect down our throats, ie: having multiple install methods = multiple different places for things to get bolluxed up.
I installed with DIM and have the issue.
...I'm still waiting for Skin Builder Pro3 as I do not have the resources to purchase a lot of different characters just to get different skins for G3F since older skins are no longer compatible (without going though a lot of trouble). Hopefully there wll also be a skin overlay utility for adding things like freckles & such.
Greetings,
Irrespective of the problem with the thumbs, you didn't link to an image, so nothing's showing up in your post.
Figuring it out and clicking through, it's definitely cute, but you should fix the image reference.

Cypherfox commenting on Cybersox
that hurts my brain.
Greetings,
It's worse than you know. ;) In my illustration-ish/fauxtistic pursuits, it's 'Cypherfox', but in my programming pursuits I go under the handle 'Cyberfox'. So at the top of page 7, Tim Naas commented that they were worried when 'cyberfox' didn't see the issue, I was thoroughly confused myself, since I hadn't commented or checked. :)

I had thought of that. So I un-installed her completely. Then installed her via dim, same thing. Then uninstalled her again and reinstalled via daz connect and still the same problem!
Didn't make a difference how I installed Julie. her thumbs got all messes up!
oops......my brain fart!!
OK, This was still bugging me. I know kightwolf1982 gave us a temp fix(thanks again). But why is it that some people have issues while some like Cybersox13(Hey Morgan, I didn't get it mixed up this time, lol) says that he didn't have a problem.
Anyways. I saved out the "fix" file Nightwolf1982 gave above. Uninstalled Tween Julie again, making sure that she is not in any of the support, data, peoples folder. I re-installed her via Daz Connect.. I also seen the new TWJ7 character and picked her up as well and installed her with Daz Connect Only.
In the attachment, I have Genesis3Female, Julie, and the new girl I just picked up. all three had the same hand pose applied.
The messed up thumb is still there with both of the girls and Genesis is fine.
So, I've tried all three methods of installation, two of them twice.(daz connect, dim). Doesn't make a difference which way I do it.
Daz is up to date as well as Genesis3Essentials. i made sure of that before I made and post about this.
Oh, and nice job on the renders Morgan!
As noted above, something went fubar on my account yesterday morning and since then I've been unable to upload any images to the forum, or link properly to an image in my gallery. No problem with any other site or uploading to the gallery, so it's definitely some kind of forum issue. I've submitted a help ticket and have a thread running elsewhere trying to get the attention of a mod, but in the meantime I'm pretty much hosed.
I'm not sure why people still think using the older skins is a lot of trouble. I have both the Black Magic and Cayman Studios solutions and while the former is rather a pain, I find the latter to be increadibly fast... maybe five to seven minutes to pop anything that's already in .duf format on, and that including the process of converting it to Iray with Sickleyield's Beautiful Skins.
Yep, not to mention the tan builder. Which is why I've been using SBP for G/G2 on G3F. :)
Okay, thaks to Cypherfox, I've at least got the linking to the gallery part working... so, very belatedly, this is the result when you use Growing Up to Un-Grow Tween Julie and add a little "heavy".
Kinda' looks like the original "Gerber Baby".
I'm really surprised that the thumb issue made it past QA. With the rigging and bending of the Genesis 3 Figures being one of the biggest selling points, you'd thing something like this would be more closely checked.
Anyway, I hope my fix is working for everyone!
OK folks. I got it fix!! I took what nightwolf1982 did a bit further. I Extracted both Victoria 7 FBM(I couldn't find G3F) and Tween Julie 7 FBM. I opened each one of them in a text editor. I copied each of the thumbs "x" orinatation that nightwolf explained above from Victoria 7 and replaced them into Jule 7 "x" values(keeping each of the spaces) and whamo!!! It worked!!!! It work on both loadng the TWJ7 character or Loading genesis and dialing her up.
So I wanted to check my other two character and extracted Camdyns and Olivettes.
Camdyns is ajust a modifier, there were no hand, fingers, etc to change. So whether I load her from her charater or dial her into genesis.
Olivette, on the other hand had values in her FBM files for the hads and fingers. So I did the same thing. Much better that before. the thumb bends in just a little bit. but at least it doesn't have that weird twist.
The attached files shows the all four with the same hand pose. I also attached what it looks like when you open the text editor. The other one show what Olivette hands look like before I did this. she was the reason that made me dig even futher into this.
Thanks again go to nightwolf1982 for showing us how to "extract" the fbm. Now I no how to fix this kinda stuff for the future.
Okay, I did some more head banging on the thumb issue, I think I've figured it out. It looks like intended values for the "x-orientation" of each of the thumb bones was inserted into the morph, instead of the difference values. So, for example, on lthumb1 the value stored in the file is 27.1542, when in reality it should have been the value -10.1142 (which, incidentally, ends up being the final value of the x-orientation on the unmodified figure).
To clarify; for both lthumb1 and rthumb1, the fixed value should be -10.1142; for lthumb2 and rthumb2, the fixed value should be -6.87205; for lthumb3 and rthumb3, the fixed value should be -6.98508.
I would even say Julie 7 has a 6-7-year old's face. I don't know why Daz always makes those baby faces for teens or 'tweens'; the whole character lacks credibility if head and body don't match. Okay for Toon- or Anime-figures, but not for 'realistic' characters.
I didn't buy Julie, but I bought P3D's Brita - applied to G3F this character makes a very interesting, strongwilled looking young lady!
P3D Brita's eyes have surpassed P3D Angel's eyes as my absolute favourites. P3D really does great eyes. And promo shots.
Looks pretty good there Nightwolf, though kinda have a gap between the finger and thumbs. I may apply those values you have to the Olivette FBM to see if that improves hers just a bit more. But the Victoria 7 values that I used seem to work for me on Julie and all hand poses.
Not sure on the Brita one since I didn't get the pro pack. So I don't know if she is just a modifier or has her own FBM with hand values.
Actually, the gap is something I would expect from the scaling difference between Julie and G3F. Like any shape, she'll require tweaking when using poses or the pose controls.
..so Brita doesn't actually "need" Julie7 as mentioned?
If you want to use her at "normal size" yes, but you can apply the morph to G3F and use it without her if you want to.
I got Camdyn; I don't have TweenJ, and the character looks great as an adult; great texture. I don't use the morphs, at anywhere near full; I prefer to make my own. I like to see what the PAs do (their vision), but I see what I can come up with on my own. Generally, not very much. :) But I enjoy the trying.
As long as the UVs are G3F, then there is no need to own the 7 series figure, they work fine; getting the look in the promos though will not be possible as the PA will have used part of what 7 series named as a requirement. Far more figures in earlier generations actually used the UVs from the character they list as a requirement.
One of the reasons I switched to G3; not a main reason, but when I saw what was happening, it encourage me to switch.
..so Brita doesn't actually "need" Julie7 as mentioned?
If you want to use her at "normal size" yes, but you can apply the morph to G3F and use it without her if you want to.
...so I imagine then that the Growing Up Moprhs should work as well.
