Oh wow, I'm not used to looking for that (also it doesn't appear unless you fit the clothing to a character apparently.) Those are insanely useful (much better than morphs since morphs usually stretch weirdly) ! (Also colour coding makes me so happy.) Sorry I missed that - quick first looks not doing the outfits justice!
The Kids Casual Skirt also has them, but not the Sunday Morning Dress so far as I could tell.
That looks to me like it's probably an HDRI issue, given that the cutoff is always in the same place on the reflection, not the same place on the eye.
Quick test using only bundle items and default lighting. I'm still not convinced by the face texture, but I really like how easy the outfit and hair are to work with.
Mada's designs are really nice and a breath of fresh air.
but isn't that the point to have a base....
A mold to work from to make what ever you want?
It's really no different from the base V4!
no one ever renders V4 from it's base form, right?!, someone always morpher her into what ever they want! Whether it's dial spun from the standard morphs or any thrid party morphs.
As I recall, you HAD to buy face and body morphs to get more option to morph the base into whatever.
It's the same thing that has been going on as far as I've been around. Grant it, I've only been doing this since 08 or 09. but that's the way I've always seen it.
Same thing applies here really!
It's a base to work from!
...I actually like the clothing in the bundles (planning to pick up several of the sets when I can scare up some extra cash).
My issue with the face is more texture based (I think; still not entirely sure to be honest) than morph based though. (Since there was a sale I did buy the bundle as seen in earlier posts testing things out and have had a chance to test things some more.)
I understand what you mean with customising but that requires a customisable base, and her mesh doesn't play particularly nicely with shrinking related morphs (although its fine with the scale up types from what I've seen so far.) If you want to make a younger child you're still best off with G3F base + Zev0's Growing Up. I don't think Julie's base figure offers anything that Growing Up doesn't already, other than being a base for Camdyn and Brita. The bundle has good stuff in it so that's fine, but the list price on the base figure is more than double regular figure shapes... and so far Aiko and Bethany are the only G3F models I've seen that really seem to justify that price. I'm not saying "it's not worth buying" or "don't do so" (I did buy it) but I really don't think anyone paying full price for an official figure is getting their money's worth in the majority of cases lately.
All base figures have fewer texture options, almost never have additional custom morphs anymore, and are more than double the price (compared to PA figures.) Why? I'm not certain there's a good answer to that question.
Closest thing I can find in the data folder is mcmtweenjulie7nipples.dsf, which appears to be a correction morph. Does anyone know what the breast morphs were supposed to do?
The promo morphs list was made before changes were made to the final figure. These changes included baking in the breast morph to the base body shape which originally did not have the breasts morphed. In the final version the base body shape includes the breast morph built in, so the separate breasts morph was no longer required. There was no additional breast morph in the final figure.
Each of these figures go through more than one version before the final is released, so it is seems the promo page did not get updated. Thanks for letting us know!
Really nice Ix; as ever with the younger characters from Daz, they have weird eyes; I'm not sure what it is (as the eyes are slightly larger in relation to the head in younger people) but they strike me as odd, and often creepy. I'm on the fence about the creepy aspect this time.
I explained just above here how that happened, The original l breast morph got built into the base shape in the final version. The product page wasn't updated however, sorry about that.
Nobody liked me either.. who cares... don't let it bother you Julie... Hmmm....maybe she needs a friend to hold her hand and show her around town

Thanks for the explanation, Thorne. It's kinda disappointing that it got baked in, but I guess I'll get over it.
Yup.
I now won't be buying the product, as it is now less versatile.
Thanks for explaining the breast morph, Thorne.
If you look at DA and other sites, it is surprising how many people use the default figure for their characters, ie default texture and shape, no extra morphs used. This is particularly true for male characters, I have seen the default M4 appear in countless images, but default V4 also appears. Some people are more intested in the story (or whatever) they are trying to express, rather than making the characters look unique.
Many people simply use Daz figures the way you'd hire a model or actor that already has the look you were wanting. The scene is what is important to them. This is one of the reasons you have a lot of people who are continually asking for more varied characters to choose from. They are into the end result, not necessarily morphing, spinning dials and learning the inner workings of Daz Studio in order to realize this image they have in their head except were absolutely necessary.
...would the Chest Adjustments from Growing Up work?
I've had poor luck with that. My guess is you'd either have to make your own custom morph or fix any clothing issues afterwards.
Old Julie was great - a default morph with a flat chest and then 4 different breast morphs - very easy to use the character shape to make a variety of younger or older characters.
I finally finished the big project I've been working on all week and had a chance to pull Tween Julie out. First thoughts -1. She looks a lot like a young Christina Ricci (circa Casper/Adams Family Values). 2. SHE DOESN'T COME WITH ANY NAIL POLISH OPTIONS???? That's pretty much the first makeup related thing girls are encouraged to try these days, so I had to steal them from another character. 3. She renders great, poses nicely and seems to work well with products made for the adult figures. 4. She informed me that she's getting really sick and tired of everyone posting "cute" pictures of her, so I let her pose the way she wanted to for this test image. Straight Iray render, no retouch or PSD except to drop in white background and shrink image.
Love it! That's the most realistic render I've seen of her. I'm still on the fence about her because I thought she looked too doll/stylized looking and I already have all the Handspan morphs if I want to create that look, but she looks so much more realistic here!
...give her a slightly narrower face with ginger hair and that would be my Leela.
That is a very scary render. It looks like a member of the Hitler Youth.
And here's a nice reason to pick up Julie even if you've already got Josie - she dials back into a totally different kind of teen. With the body dials set at .56 and the head at .65, she's a lot less curvy than Josie... kind of a Willow to Josie's Buffy.
What can I say? Two of the outfits in the Starter Bundle came with Skull textures, so obviously Julie has bit of a dark side. :)
I purchased the pro bundle with the face it little miss and expression pack to get the discount. She's a decent addition to the base pantheon, and I'm very happy with the content. However, I would echo sentiments about thestylization of her face O,O.T.B. but she's much closer to reality, than many other recent base figures, The thing is, I recal with most of the base G2F base new releases. and even the earlyG3F's,there would be a good weeks stretch of new clothes, poses, morphs, and hair sets, released daily as specificly geared for the new base character. As is the recent "Let's keep it moving here" trend, they have thrown her out into the world, and then orphaned her with only the day one content. Child Abandonment I say! LOL. I just wish they had provide a bit more for her. Most of the G3F clothes and poses are a bit 12 yo inappropriate. All in all, it is a great deal, and she really is a wonderful figure. I just wish there were more content support for her.
Depends if you're asking the 12yo or the parent. :) And in both instances, will also depending on the person.
@Cybersox13
Best render I've seen, and the first to make me reconsider when the character comes on offer.
Thorne, is it possible to add those morphs back into the package so that folks that want to change an adult version of G3F to have a smaller breasts?
Great render, and this is a prime example of why I often wait to see what the users are doing with a figure that I'm on the fence about. Sometimes the promo pics don't give the whole story of what a character can actually look like.
