Yeah, looking at the clothes I thought the Missy outfit would fit the requirement of the person who wanted something their Gran would wear. But the outfit is well done, and the shape is pretty much timeless. It all comes down to textures and accesories. I think the base Julie figure looks like a typical 12 year old. I've definately seen 10-12 year olds wearing the shorts and tank top as shown with thte main figure walking around town this summer. The traditional daily wear clothes of probably 90% of the planet, no matter what age, is jeans/t-shirt/sneakers. My 15 year old son and I are wearing identical concert t-shirts and black jeans. He has sneakers, and I have sandals. I've seen the girls at his school in winter wear short skirts and sweaters with shearling boots in the winter.

One of the biggesrt challenges Daz faces is living up to ideal of what kids actually wear, versus what adults think they wear or should wear, and what also has appeal to be marketed for adult figures as well.

Pretty sure adults have the equivalent of rose-tinted glasses (child-tinted?).

I thought it meant 'between child and teen', 10-12, a label slapped on them to reflect the idea that they have more in common with teenagers at that age than with under 10s. Somewhere between 'sweet and innocent' and 'know-it-all nightmare' :)

...my characer Leela is basically a "tween" even though in the story she is 18 years old (Neoteny).

This such an odd character. Her lips are abnormally huge, and she looks very stylized. She is cute, I suppose, but I would never guess any of the characters in the pro set are "tweens." They could all have fit right in with Josie's line, rather than being a separate figure. And I am baffled by how womanly Camdyn's chest is in the pic posted ablove, how old is she supposed to be? These characters would make good faries and elves, but only Camdyn could pass as a believable tween imo. Plus I've never seen a child, tween, nor teen wear clothes like what's in these sets. Again, only Camdyn has a sensibly young teen outfit...but its not part of the set!

Why are jeans so rare on Daz? Jeans come in so many styles there are entire fashion lines dedicated to them. But just a scant few Daz products. Jeans are by far the #1 thing people wear around me, kids and adults alike.

What is it with Daz's fascination with pouty duck face lips??? Even the younger characters can't avoid it! We are passed the point of overkill now. Seriously, its time to revolt against chronic duck face. It is becoming the great epidemic of our time.

..I have 3DU's Skyler and she fits the Tween mould better.

All G3F textures will work on her. Her own base texture won't work on G3F, unless you have her base. Which basically says that if you have her, and her base, you can use her texture on G3F, too.

Where it all breaks down is when someone without the Julie 7 base buys a character in the store whose texture was built on the Julie 7 UVs. That texture won't properly apply to G3F.

But that doesn't happen that often any more. Vendors have learned that it's safest to build add-on textures from the G3F UVs. It's still somethingnthat you need to check, though.

...I hate it when they do this.  Reminds me of the old Marvel Comics crossovers that made you buy titles you'd never spend money on only because they carried the storyline arc int them.

Emotional maturity is always different; and sometimes, people are just more trusting? Although the trusting or naivete is not related to emotional maturity.

Yes I don't like buy this to get that. And generally I don't; I did for a bit last year (early), but I was stocking my library.

Well, this is my render with Ms Julie.

I think the character is workable. I blended her with different breast and  Growing up Genesis morphs. Plus she has the Teen Josie 7 Thin morph dialed in as well.

    I think she's a very workable character.

The faces of the girls doesn't seem right, they look weird I just can't describe it. I know they suppose to be a styles type, but to be honest she scares me, Brita seems alright.

I think I narrow one of the things that brothers me, it's her lips, doesn't look right on a small girl.

Has anyone bought her that can check on something? In the promo images there is an odd green in her eyes with a strange cut off spot where the green ends. Is this an issue with the HDRI or is there an odd line in her eyes?

I'm not sure what it is, but in the renders it looks dreadful. Can anyone who has her confirm if her eyes look like that in your renders?

I had forgotten I saw this yesterday and have sent in an inquiry.

Thank you, Cris! I don't have any younger characters and would consider getting her to fit "little sister" spots in my renders. I'd like to see if there is an issue with her eyes first though.

The thing which is off is the face mimic, I think. Even toddlers show wrinkles (don't know if that's the right word for it) if they express strong emotions. Julie7 doesn't (as it seems to be normal for DAZ females, even a totally angry Victory7 hasn't the slightest fault between her eyes). That alone makes the render less real than it could be.

This one isn't a beauty like  Julie7, but it shows what I mean: The face muscles change with emotions, they don't stay slick.

I'm kind of new to 3D art, but in my limited experience with V4.2, it seams like that model actually does more realistic "face wrinkles" than her newer counterparts. One of my first renders (about 4 or 5 months ago) I did with V4.2 and I really liked how her face wrinkles a bit more realistically with her smile.

As a mom, my daughter does not go out wearing most of what's "popular" out there. Thank God, she does not care, except for her nails. I usually save money by cutting pants into shorts and they are cut at mid thigh. And when she wants to wear tights, especially those with god aweful prints, she must wear a tunic to cover her butt. spaghetti straps and tank tops are fine in the summer but not for school. I'm trying to instill a sense of modesty when going out the door when they are at a young age so I won't have too much of a fight later when she is a teen. I'm just glad she is too lazy to be a diva.

As a mom, this is a precarious moment, my son will turn 13 in September and his voice is already cracking, and shoulders have broaden over the summer, in the last couple of days he is turning into a ravishing beast, so that means that the growth spurt that will last the next couple of years has begun. His father is gearing up for the sex talk before school starts. My daughter is 10 and the school and myself already had the puberty talk. And all I can think about was "She'll ONLY in the 4th grade, why so soon?" Then I remember when I had my first period then I thought "Oh, S*!t, it's that time!"

And here I am on my computer, watching my kids eat breakfast and I wonder ... who are they? Where did my chubby babies go? As a parent I can tell you this is not a happy period, it is a bittersweet moment when you have to let go of the child and start working into turning them into proper adults, fun's over as a parent.

Sorry, to pour all over you guys, this is a happy and sad time for me.

All that is an easy fix by adjusting the face morphs.  I've have downsized the lips and made the irises smaller too, so anything is possible. So there are workarounds. Plus, you can always dial out the face too and dail what-ever one you like. Unlike Skyler or Ryan.

I'm sure someone will come up with different face morphs for her here in the near future, so!

Mum of four here who knows exactly what you mean. My youngest is 13. My oldest is 28 though, and having adult kids can be a lot of fun and laughs too. I think it's the reward you get for surving tweens and teens! I've lost count of the times I've wished they could be babies again (all at once!) but I think I'd probably be a case for the green van if it ever happened :) The really difficult bit is seeing my mum's face in the mirror and watching my 23 year-old walking round wearing mine :)

See the problem with that is that if I have to fix bits or buy additional things when they am I paying so much money for the main thing in the first place?

I like that the body shape actually has slender thighs which no morphs ever seem to cover, though I can't really think of any way to get that onto an adult shape, but something about the face bothers me, too. And it's not that big a deal in general, except that the "deal" for early purchase is asking for an awful lot of money. Maybe it's just Daz's strategies lately making me re-evaluate spending so much money here, but while I'd like to support the character, I'm going to have to pass for now.

If you have other characters (which seems impossible not to if you are considering this purchase), then you can dial the head out completely and use the head of your choice. I was able to take a character that I had been playing with and dial in a bit of Julie for a less mature character. I had to remove Julie's face morph, but it was quite effective. I haven't had much of a chance to play with the new figure, but so far, I like what I've seen.

I've found that thinning the lips of most Daz figures is now simply standard practice. I don't know if this is just the style of the era or what, but the collagen injected lip look seems to be across the board when it comes to female figures regardless of the PA.  Presumed age of the figure has no bearing on it at all.

Right, I agree that there are plenty of uses for the character shape in various partial ways - and on a discount that'd be great. But as a premium new release that asks to buy 3 more things from a small selection? My tiny budget isn't so sure.

Many years ago I wanted to work with DAZ children to illustrate a book of Children's Poetry that I wrote. I was frustrated with the apparent lack of kid's content, and DAZ's apparent indifference to the issue. I never illustrated or published the book. In the years since, I've seen many new generations of kids. I've purchased a few yet never used them. I suppose this Tween is a good character. I won't buy it. I already have way too many unused characters.

Now that the 11% discount offer appeared for today that lowered the price enough for me to grab it. A few initial thoughts:

    - Tatum hair has lots of easy to use poses and clearly organised sliders.
    - Kylie hair has more styling morphs than I expected from a short hair.

    - Kids Casual has a few basic adjustment morphs and that seems to be it?
    - Missy Outfit also has a few basic adjustment morphs but they're beautifully colour coded and I like that.
    - Sunday Morning Outfit has ..one adjustment morph for "knees up lower" ?

So clothing has some lowlights in morph functionality, but all three outfits come with multiple textures bundled in which is very nice!

The Tween Julie 7 Breasts setting mentioned on the product page does indeed seem to not exist as someone mentioned earlier - I was hoping this would allow you to zero them out properly in order to make younger characters, since the regular breast gone sliders lead to weird glitches which will mess with clothing :/

I have an uber closeup of the eye rendering at the moment and right now I can't see any weird green thing appearing with the default HDRI that PAs hate, but the render's going to take most of eternity so I'll update later if I find anything.

Edit: Updated with a giant eye. Please keep in mind it's the default lores HDRI and really probably not intended to be seen at that size.

Edit 2: Now that I've tried everything out, I just wanted to add that I really like how practical and useful the DA Sassy Poses actually turned out to be. Which reminds me, I wonder if the Aiko 7 pose sets we bought that were meant to include Julie sets will be updated to have them..? Nothing yet but I also can't remember which ones had them.

Indeed they are; I remember at school, it was a mixed boarding school and day school; the girls had to wear fairly long skirts; they would raise them, whereas the day girls had more latitude, it appeared at any rate. One teacher was very strict and the length of skirts always dropped when she was about.

The reason I've written the above, just because parents think their kids will be wearing certain items does not mean they are; they'll adjust them or change once out. Some won't obviously, but we're back to the child-tinted glasses again. Enough to scare any parent to death.

It does apply to gift cards though (at least right now it does) which means you can buy a gift card for the order amount, get 11% off, then buy her with store credit.

Looks better than most DAZ eyes to me, The iris is larger than normal it seems like to me but I'm not sure, maybe it's a bit of squint or maybe it's a purposeful caricature exaggeration.

Indeed, especially when one consideres we have to buy two items to qualify for discount on the PAs on sale.

I can wait, obviously there is always another sale.

...in a story I am writing the main character is physically underdeveloped for her age (the pic I posted a few pages back was my first G3F attempt using the Growing Up Morphs with Teen Josie 7).  I have been working with visually developing this character since the Daz 1.8 days when all I had was V4 then later in 3.1, Steph4.  Genesis and G2 made things simpler as they again released base teen characters (Young Teen Julie 5 and Belle 6 respectively).

Attached are pics of the various different versions in order

    1. As child (V4)

    2. As "tween" (V4),

    3.  Vicky4,

    4.  Steph4,

    5. Genesis (Julie5),

    6. Genesis (Growing Up Morphs),

    7.  G2F (Belle6)

...also just noticed the Brita character (wondered why the name kept popping up).  I thought t Brita a standalone child character (part of the Project Human line?) years ago.

    - Missy Outfit also has a few basic adjustment morphs but they're beautifully colour coded and I like that.

Just a quick note about the dress - the thighs have handles that move with the figure - you can use the handles to adjust for most poses without morphs. :) I also like that with the handles you can move the dress a bit closer so that it pushes out with smoothing and gives a nice outline of the figure. :) Happy rendering!
