I was just logging in to say, 'Never mind, I found it!' I'm now running a fresh render, to see if those annoying shadows are still there....
Hey, my image disappeared from my posting, and I had to replace it. What went wrong?
Well, so much for 'no DAZ Moments'...! I don't know where those shadows came from. I set the lights to 'no shadows', and even turned the intensity down to zero, but they adamantly persist...!
This one is kind of a two-fer: The Reporter Equipment brought to mind Don Henley's song, 'Dirty Laundry' (with a bit of extra influence/inspiration provided by the 1928 Broadway play 'The Front Page' -- augmented by the classic Jack Lemmon/Walter Mathau movie adaptation from 1974; David Wayne's characterization of Bensinger all but stole the show!).
In addition, I have Katy Perry's 'Prism' in the CD player in my car, and one line of the lyrics to a particular song lends itself very nicely to 'Mondegreen-ization'.
And about that (the 'Katy Perry CD in the car's player -- with the volume cranked up to 'kid-next-door loud'): okay, so on the 'Potential for Public Humiliation' scale, it doesn't quite rise to the level of, say, being outed in the Ashley Madison hack. Still..., it's up there. As a consequence, I felt strangely obligated to find some way to use, misuse, and abuse Katy Perry! (Not like THAT! Jeez, people, get your minds out of the gutter!)

I've been missing all the fun! Lots of fun and pretty renders here from everyone.
Iray? The Shadow type parameter was hidden because it does nothing - Iray is a photorealistic renderer and real lights always cast shadows. You can switch to Interactive mode in Render Settings, which allows you to turn shadows off but also has other effects (no emissive surfaces, for one).

Saphirewild #3 - I think a hamburger as big as that (and wallpaper as "colourful" as that) will cause a bit of indigestion! Nice use of the Emotiguy (not the easiest thing to pull).

Yeah, that proved to be the issue.
Actually, I wanted to remove both, because I really think they not only detracted from the image, but also telegraphed the presence of two lights that I used to illuminate the scene, over and beyond several others tucked away in the overhead fixtures. (Those shadows I didn't have a problem with.)
That whole thing about shadows and reflections with respect to vampires strikes me as utter bollocks (pardon the vulgarity): from my perspective, yeah, vampires may be paranormal beings, but they "exist" in the same physical universe as everything else, so the laws of physics have to apply, and not just selectively, either; it's all or nothing. If we can see them at all, then light has to reflect off of them, which means they cast shadows and have reflections. (They are also subject to gravity, which means they can't fly, or climb walls. And let's not even get started on that whole 'shape-shifting' nonsense!) Granted that there are a lot of downright freaky things they are capable of, but telling the laws of physics to go screw themselves ain't one of them! (That's one of the major plot points in my current WIP 'vampire-porn' novel, tentatively titled, Blood is Thicker.)

Thank you, barbult, but just about the time Kyoto Kid offered the same answer, I found it on my own. And, as it turned out, it wouldn't have helped, anyway.
However, on a somewhat related note, does anyone have any tips, tricks, or products that can create an "ambient" environment in an interior Iray render? As I understand the basic mechanics of Iray (which, I'll admit, is rather sketchy, at best), the environment parameters are primarily -- perhaps one could even say, almost exclusively -- geared toward exterior lighting.
What can I use, or how can I tweak the settings, to perform the same functions as, say, the UberEnvironment in 3Delight, for Iray?
Or, should I just stick with 3DL when I'm doing an indoor scene (as about 90% of my renders tend to be)?
There's a thread about that. A suggestions people found useful was to use a point light with a sphere shape (change it to sphere in Parameters pane).
