Yup, can't stand couple poses where the woman seem to overpower the male trying to hold her, she always looks like a giant, makes the man look weak to me.

And it always takes forever to ajust both male and female poses for a shorter female figure. Daz just needs to give us SP7 so PAs can can make some couples poses that actually make both figures look nice and well balanced.

As a 1.90 m tall woman, this is one bias that DAZ has that I'm actually glad of wink

kiss It's not you, hon, its the guy that needs to ajust. I'm bias, I like my men tall and broad shouldered.

  • I don't know if anyone else has mentioned her, but SC Joy (who is a great natural-looking character in my opinion) is 5' 6" according to my calculations.

Rune, with a few small changes (muscle morphs, eyebrow shape). Render stopped at about 25%, still grainy, but I'm definitely glad I scraped the money for her.

That's a great render! :-)  The hair is perfect for her.

Well, its not tawny colored hair.... This is the elven outfit, not in the bundle, but it fit the hair. which is fantasy warrior hair, also not in the bundle lol.  But it fit her I thought. Love the texture of her skin and she looks very much like a real person.  Great imperfections.

This turned out beautiful! Nicely done!

Straight render, the only postwork was a tiny hit of the healing brush to fix some pokethrough on the pants (made dynamic with dyncreator.)  I really love the natural variations in Rune's skin

Lovely render! Yep, she's a great figure for sure! One of the most realistic characters I've seen yet - with her skin variation, vascularity, and more down to earth/average girl looks. I can't wait for her to go on a deep discount sale so I can snag her! I'm chomping at the bit to get ahold of her!

Poses will always need adjustment unless you keep your figures close to default shape and style. With male poses I often adjust hands and feet, and arms. I don't really see a way around that since most people's taste in figures varies considerably and a lot of people customize the figures away from default.

I personally miss some of the more neuter like pose sets from genesis which could be used for both sexes.

I get that it always requires some finesse. But having some poses for actual short people would make that process just a bit easier.

I often use poses intended for the opposite sex as well. I don't get why so many female poses use heals by default, or break their backs so much. I know very few women who wear high heals in real life, and I thought heals were kind of falling out of fashion?

I do like the look of the Mele Hair. Not only could it be a warrior do, but it also has a distinctly 80's vibe to it. Perhaps both.

I know lots of women that wear heels regularly, even my GF wears then often, Guess it depends on where you live and the scenes/people you associate with. Google heels and you will get a ton of stores that sell all types/styles of heels, many which really need to be made for GF3, (hint, hint) LOL. Funny, I bought my GF a pair of stilettos that I really liked hoping she would like/wear them and she said they were too high and no way in heck she would ever wear them. 3 weeks later we went to a party and low and behold she was wearing them. She said she was trying them out, and so far she has worn them quite a few times since, LOL.

As for poses, I tend to have to tweak poses nearly all the time. Once I do, I then save them (save > pose preset) for future use which saves a ton of time. I can't recall the last time I loaded a canned pose that I didn't have to tweak to suite my needs

Heels aren't widely worn and are mostly  out of fashion for daily use except for really fancy functions where I live and have been for at least 15 years.

Not sad to see that fashion go. Not of fan of heels really. It feels and looks too much like hobbling to me.

I live in a cooler pacific coast area. The norms would be jeans and shirts.

Regarding poses extreme height differences aren't something I look for. I  tend to be the opposite wanting couples poses to be of the same height so they can be used for samesex or characters of different genders.

I'd like more neuter poses which would be more useful for different genders but the smexy poses which incorporate a lot of swayback and tippy toe poses for women seem to trump that Not my cuppa tea personally.

I don't wear heels because they are dangerous (you can twist or even break your ankle if you step wrong or step on an uneven surface) and can also lead to health issues. A woman's body will attempt to compensate for the off-kilter balance high heels cause by flexing or forward bending the hips and spine. In order to maintain balance, the calf, hip, and back muscles become tense. At the end of the day this makes for excess muscle fatique and strain.

Wearing high heals causes lumbar spine flattening and posterior displacement of the head and thoracic spine. It can lead to spinal issues and back pain. It also creates excess pressure on your knees and places most of the body's weight on the balls of the feet. High heels have been linked to overworked or injured leg muscles, osteoarthritis of the knee, plantar fasciitis and low back pain.

    When you wear high heels - shoes with a heel two inches or higher - your foot slides forward in your shoe, forcing the toes into the unnatural shape of the shoe and redistributing your weight incorrectly. This is very unnatural and daily high heal wearing over a number of years can actually lead to changes in your anatomy and permanent health problems. {Sources: The Spine Health Institute and American Osteopathic Association}

So while I sometimes find women's legs pretty in high heels and will occassionally render girls and women in heels, I myself will not wear them unless it's a very special occassion - if at all. I definitely don't recommend wearing heels very often.

Very quick Rune render with stuff from the Pro bundle (first Pro bundle I think I ever bought). Postwork in Photoshop.

Good thing about being a guy, there's no pressure to wear heels. I can't hold it against women who don't for those very reasons divamakeup.

Thanks for all the renders. Can't wait until I can get a dozen figures in a render without my computer going on strike. :)

Here's one I managed to get away with in 3delight while Studio seemed happy to respond.

    Thank you very much!

I can't give all of my methods away but I'll share what I can.  :)   Render was actually with the default HDRI and barely rotated, so you don't have to use creative lighting if you're willing to postwork it. Background was painted with a custom fluffy Photoshop brush and then a paper texture was applied (that makes a huge difference). Color correction was a couple of Curves and Google's NIK toolset (which is now free). I give one of my 80-some Curves away in a Youtube postwork tutorial video that you might want to take a look at if you're interested. Here's my channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/SnowSultan

    Thanks again!

That NIK toolset is invaluable - I use it pretty much every time with my postwork. I just shot over to to DA to see if you'd posted that image - do you mind if I use it as my PC background? (my personal use only, not uploaded anywhere etc etc etc..my use only)

    Thank you very much!

Wow, I hardly think it's worthy of being anyone's background image, but you're certainly welcome to.  :)   I just posted it on dA too, haha. Really just rendered it as a test for trying to figure out how to paint Boris-like backgrounds, but the combination of my old fluffy background painter brush and the paper texture gave good results. Since I hadn't posted anything in a while, I figured I'd finish it.   :)   Thanks again for the kind words.

Are you kidding!? It's amazing! I love it and hope that I can learn how to do that, or at least get close to that effect. It looks totally like a painting. You should post it here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/54697/non-photorealistic-renders-npr/p1

Snow Sultan, it's the shading on the character I like. That style really appeals to me. Hair and skin look great.
