Easy Environments and Iray Tips and Tricks

Hey, folks --

This may come across as kind of a 'newbie' question, and if it does..., who cares?

I really like the Easy Environment scenes from Flipmode (sp), but I can't seem to get them to work properly with the Iray render engine.  I'm assuming that the issues I'm having involve both lighting and shaders.  So....

If anyone can offer a few tips and tricks to get those environments to render properly in Iray, I'll appreciate all over ya!

Could you be more specific on the issues ken?

Have you changed the default shaders to iray shaders, and what lighting set up are you using? Dome, scene, sun/sky?

Also, it looks like flipmode has noted the subject of IRAY rendering on their website, here - http://flipmode3d.com/easy-environments/#skyspherehdr

I actually just did a Snowy conversion. I ended up using a geoshell. If you drill into the weird 3dl shader, there's an image mask for the snow that you can use on the geoshell, creating a very nice transparency for the peaks to, er, peek through.

The result (the actual rock and snow are my own shader, the image mask from land of ice and snow): http://willbear.deviantart.com/art/WTZ-Land-of-Ice-and-Snow-611210383

    Thank you both!

I've bookmarked both posts, so I can refer to them again at my leisure.

Melanie, you keep pulling my chestnuts out of the fire!  If you keep this up, I may have to put you on the payroll!
