  • I've just stumbled on this script by MCasual : https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts5/anywhereintheworld

It allows you to create a spherical background from Google map. It works very well indeed.

I cannot post a render because I'm afraid to break some copyright legality, but, for a personal project, I think it can be very useful.

    Hi,

Dilay: "Dilay is a 3D sculpting application that provides an intuitive workflow using a number of powerful modeling tools. As each tool locally subdivides the mesh where more details are required, Dilay allows artists to rapidly create complex meshes."

    I caught several of the words....but I wish I had a transcript as I wasn't familiar with everything....sounded pretty funny though. :)

Looks like a new sculptris. Thanks for the link.

Retopo easily, allows for user input to guide the solution by drawing on the model  http://igl.ethz.ch/projects/instant-meshes/

I should add that drawing on the mesh to direct the flow is optional, it can arrive at a pretty good solution automatically.

    Unlike Sculptris, there's a native Linux version...laugh

No prebuilt binaries for the Linux version, so it needs to be compiled from source.  There is a Windows binary.

    That's the Linux version...

Not sure if this is back in the thread, but a good video editor with some effects they still have HitFilm Express free https://hitfilm.com/express ; deal with those image sequences :)

here's a beta for a drawing program that makes meshes from drawings, dont know what happens when it is out of beta

    What is it?

Polybrush is a new, simple and fast 3D software with an unusual way of modeling, originally conceived for a three-dimensional sketching.

The main idea - to use drawing instead of the usual methods of modeling. You just make strokes in 3D space, or lines, whatever. 3D Brush may consist of several objects and change their color and deformation, depending on the graphic tablet pen pressure. Each brush can have a different set of parameters, it's easily selected by the user as a modifier stack. A result it turns library of different sets of brushes which users can exchange. Two different stroke - the two different from each other objects.

In addition there are tools for sculpting (including Remesh), and unusual tool for a very quick drawing of surfaces of revolution.

Any such concept, finished model, and even brush stored in OBJ files supported by most 3D editors.

The program is written by one person in two years, i.e., by me, 3D-artist. I tried to make the program habitual, comfortable in all little things and not create unnecessary - Polybush without brushes weighs only 2MB and launches in a couple of seconds. In the program almost nothing besides 3D brush tool, but this Instrument really flexible. For making many things, almost anything else is not necessary. You do not need to spend weeks on studying, it's actually a three-dimensional Photoshop.

The video at main page briefly shows examples of use, and the basic features of Polybrush. Just download free beta and start drawing!

Looks very interesting (similar to ZBrush dynamesh system ?), just beware, there is plenty of people who detected malware in 3rd party software he is using to protect the beta (in the forums) ...

I'll wait till he gets that sorted out, if price is good, I will most likely buy it if he sells it through proper channels smiley

    Any overlapping UV 3D painter?

Carrara looks a little too limited and messy...

Running the file through the Jotti online scanner, 20 of the 21 antimalware scanners used found nothing.  Fprot was the only one that 'found' something...and it was different than the 2 others that were reported on the forum.  In all likelyhood, it is a 'packed' executable and the scanners that complain about it don't like the packing method.   There are reports of the same 'malware' in several different games...on Steam.

Most of the reports are coming from 360 TS...

Here's the PC Magezine report on 360 TS

I just thought i'd mention "sabre",. from Videocopilot.net  it's a new free plugin for adobe After Effects.

    http://www.videocopilot.net/blog/2016/03/new-plug-in-trailer-online/

they also have some other free plugins and scripts for after effects,.

It's the best source of free tutorials for compositing and cgi efects, even if you're not using adobe after effects, many of the principles and techniques shown can be used in, or adapted to other video editing or compositing programs.

DUDU - thanks for the link to the free scanned man - it is a huge download, I recommend only getting the OBJs. It loads and renders fine in Carrara, this is the relatively low poly SubD_Level2, with around 30,000 polys together with the included 8k color and normal maps. I added some SSS with Octane shaders and rendered in Octane Render for Carrara, but it works with Carrara's native renderer too. The position should make it fairly easy to add bones, but the whole model is just one mesh (including just the front of the eyes), so any facial animation would be difficult to add.

  • Are U sure it's free ? I could not find more info about that anywhere ...

All we know it's a free beta though, many start that way, and when it's out of beta, then they charge for it.

I'm big fan of nodal approach, I use Fusion in similar fashion to edit my images. Works pretty well smiley
