Hard Liquor for Lady Darkness Hair [Commercial]

Its showtime! :said like Beetlejuice: My latest is out now.

This isn't your normal hair add on. Includes 3 hair extensions for the hair that turns it into a ponytail, braid and bubble tail (with some other neat tricks) With all the extensions and morphs combined, you can have several different looks and hairstyles. Not to mention more texture options than you will probably ever use lol It has over 200 materials to the set.

This supports the hair in Lady Darkness for Genesis 2 and 3. But if you don't own the full bundle with the clothing and want to buy just the hair, you can now do that too

Questions/Quick Tips:

Of major note, the hair itself got an update... because I felt it could be even better than it was. So if you own Lady Darkness for Genesis 2 female or Genesis 3 female, an update is available in your downloads

I recommend everyone read the PDF, as this is a very tricky set. But Ill cover some common things here:

Will the extensions work with the Lady Darkness cape?
Yes. The bubble tail and Ponytail do poke into the cape a little when you load them, but you just have to bend the first bone slightly to correct it. In most cases it will be negligible, as you will probably want to pose the extensions anyway.

How do I load the extensions?
You must select the Lady Darkness hair in your scene tab (not Genesis) and then click on each extension to load (don't drag and drop) This is because they are rigged to conform to the hair and not Genesis. It is done this way so that the extensions not only auto-follow the hair morphs, but Genesis morphs as well.

The existing ponytail in the hair must be hidden to use the extensions (there is a morph to hide it, as well as a utility pose included in Hard Liquor that will hide it for you) However, this should be a non-issue for the most part, because when you load each extension, it auto-hides the existing tail (as long as you are loading them as instructed above)

Each piece has posable zones. You can pose them, or even lengthen/shorten/thicken them by doing so on their posable zones. In addition, there are also movement and style morphs, to expand their capabilities even further.

Can I use the movement/style morphs with the joints?
Yes. I have taken special care to adjust the rig to each shape where needed, so it can still be posed after using morphs. This will give you even more flexibility.

Using the bubble tail - extra bubbles option:
This is a morph that makes more smaller bubbles (rather than 2 big ones) and it comes complete with extra conforming ties made just for it. Simply click the bubble tail in your scene, then click to load these ties... they will conform and auto-dial in the extra bubbles morph. There is also an inj/rem for the extra bubbles morph, so you don't have to search for the morph itself. Just be sure the bubble tail is selected before using them.

The braid has messy strands that are interwoven into the braid (for a more natural look) These can be turned off for a neater braid, using the Braid Strands Off Utility.

The Serpent diadem is an extra bonus... which is part of a set of relics (called Serpens Reliquias) I am spreading them about in different places - fun easter eggs of sorts. Each relic has a pair of serpents entwined on them, with colored iridescent scales and the eyes of which glow eerily with power. Legend tells that these relics each have a different curse placed upon them, which imbue who holds them with certain powers (there is an actual rhyming curse to each one - but you have to read the PDF/readme to read them) The diadem has the ability to raise and control an army of the dead (since Lady Darkness is a necromancer, I felt this curse would be most fitting) You can also find the free Serpent Fang Dagger in the March issue of DS Creative - this dagger relic has the ability to poison its victims with the tiniest scratch from its blade. There are lots more relics to the set, and you can collect them all... but you have to keep your eye out for them, as you never know where you will find them.

  • Very inventive addition. I don't foresee needing this particular hair style any time in the near future (I'm doing a lot of historicals right now), but if I can work this into my next superhero project, I definitely will. And kudos for the inventive names and detailed descriptions above!

I absolutely love your products and this is in my cart this morning! The use of colors in your products is amazing . I am thinking Lady Darkness wearing her new hair with a couple of leopards or black panthers in Stonemasons up and coming Fern lake/Through the woods.....hmmmm

Thank you guys for the compliments :)

mmitchell... I can totally see that. They'd definitely work better for a superhero versus historical... theyre too modern looking for sure.

Kharma, that sounds awesome! You should totally post it when you're done, so we can see. I just saw the promos for the Fern Lake set, and wow... it looks so incredibly real. And you can never go wrong with big cats, too lol

It looks great.  I love when there are addons for existing hair.  It makes the original so much more versatile.  I like that there is more than one style of ponytail.

  • IgnisSerpentusIgnisSerpentus Posts: 2,597

Yeah, funny thing about that is, I didnt originally plan it. I wasn't even sure I was gonna do the add-on. But then I got the idea for extra tails.... and I could have kept on going. I had all kinds of other ideas for tails I could have done. But 200 mats.... is way more than it seems... which would have increased exponentially. Thinks Ill have to be satisfied with the 3 lol

If you want to have an in line image  click on the attachment to bring up a full size image.  Then right click on the image and "Copy Image Location"   Now click the gear icon on your post and select edit.

On the edit screen click on the image tool in the tool bar above the typing pane, it is the one with the little mountain thingy

Paste the image location in the URL bar there.and save your edit.   If your image is more that 800 pixels in width use the sizing tools to restrict the width to 800 px, as this makes the image look acceptable on most devices which some people use to view the forum, including the smaller ones.

Must take the update awhile to show up in DIM, I have Lady Darkness for G3F and it's not showing up yet or will it not show up until I purchase the Hard Liquor pkg as I am waiting to see if there is other products I want to pick up today.

  • IgnisSerpentusIgnisSerpentus Posts: 2,597

I downloaded it this morn thru Product library, and it had updated there. Wasn't sure about DIM.. so I just peeped in there. Its showing as 3-9-2016 as the package date. This should be the latest, as thats right around when I sent in the update.

You're welcome :) If it helps, the things that were changed were the transmap a little (now it has fine hairs) and the skullcap textures, which are less grainy now

Awesome DB!! I love your rainy images... you do splash effects so well. Not to mention merging different things together so well.

  • DireBunnyDireBunny Posts: 556

Thanks :) didn't know if i wanted to do fire or rain this time so i opted for both.

  • IgnisSerpentusIgnisSerpentus Posts: 2,597

lol sounds like me.... esp with colors. Ooooo I cant make up my mind... lets do all teh colorses!

  • DireBunnyDireBunny Posts: 556

yeah that  reminds me, that white hair reflects colours really nicely. You can see all the different coloured lights i used just by looking at her hair lol.

  • IgnisSerpentusIgnisSerpentus Posts: 2,597

Yeah, the hair has a slight reflect on it so it would reflect the pyroclastics on the headband (since I couldn't make it outwardly glow there, I thot that was the next best thing)

Heres a close up test render i did before adding in the phantoms and stuff. almost stopped here when i saw how the hair turned out.

Oh yeah, your image looks good closeup too.

That particular exttension was kinna fun... all the movement morphs blow it apart and make it strandy. You can go medium short and uber short and short layered with it too (and retain the joint movement) curly ended (like some 'do from the 50's) you can make it wavy. You can make it fatter and really skinny. I got a little carried away... Its a shame I couldn't show everything in the promos. But I would have had like 984539489348 promos lol

Bought the hair immediately, and its great as usual. I.S., remains one of my fav vendors here at Daz. The fire colors sold me as I just coincidently needed that for a semi-current piece. Thanxs again for another great I.S. item.

Am I mistaken or does the hair only have 3 Delight shaders...no Iray?

  • IgnisSerpentusIgnisSerpentus Posts: 2,597

No iray, sadly. Im still fairly new to iray, as I havent had a ton of time to sit down and learn it. But its mostly coz the set had so many materials. Already at 200 mats and the set is 684 MB besides, it would have doubled it effectively.

Going forward, I will be exploring iray and doing supporting mats
