Okay, now it's on to Round 5 -- wait, let me check.... (Opening Entries-Only thread in another tab....  One..., two..., three..., four....)

    Right, it's 5.

    And here's the pull:

    3443 - Melody Hair
    969 - Science Classroom
1656 - Shaded Haven Gazebo Cafe
    4448 - Demone Hall
    (LB) 296 - Nuru Hair for Genesis 2 Male(s)

    Um..., sets and hair.  Okay....

I think I may have to abandon this one....  It's a shame, too, because I actually came up with a pretty good gimmick.

Every attempt to render ends up with the G2M's right thigh exploding -- like this:

    Anybody know what's happening here?

Oh, thats neat! Look at your smoothing settings and try turning smoothing off first to see if the problem goes away.

Finally the internet is up again (actually bad dsl router?)... fortunately my computer kept working

thanks Purrkat, Chanteur de Vent, Luci, Totte for your comments

@Emsim #1  Ooooh!  That is creepy when the house next door comes knocking on you!  Nice one!

@Purrkat #4  That s one cool history teacher!  Pogo as homework!!  Good one!

@Luci45 #7  Those accursed Gelatinous Gargoyles... undoubtedly an evolution of the Gelatinous Cubes that used to haunt the dungeons.  I remember that one!  No way that it s been 3 years!!  Well done!  I guess Gumball Rally was a guy movie with a biker riding off the Santa Monica pier as a finale.

@Totte #7  Why do I see this as a psychological French movie with subtitles?  I m betting someone will now make it.  My Dinner with Andre was one of my favorites.. so this one could be a critical success.  Nice one!

    Where are the smoothing settings?

The thing is, it happens spontaneously.  The machine can be just sitting there, and BOOM!  The thigh blows up, and I'm not even moving the mouse.

If I change the visibility on the body part (from visible to invisible, or vice versa), it returns to normal.  Until it suddenly comes back.

For what it's worth, and if it matters, the character is the Legendary Demon.

Smoothing is in the Parameters pane under the General section. Not all items load with smoothing, but it can be added. Another hint - be sure NOT to turn on Interactive Update. It will kill the responsiveness of your system.

    Star Trek: the Previous Generation

Bones has been granted his greatest wish… to spend eternity roasting marshmallows and singing Row… Row… Row Your Boat with Spock.  Scotty is working on a marshmallow roaster for those who are afraid of getting burned.  Kirstie Alley-Sprite is determined to rescue the crew from oblivion and return them to the modern universe for more sequels.  But she has found that getting into heaven may be easier than getting out.  Because something has followed her up the stairway!
"Spock!  Spock!!  I m a country doctor, not a hairdresser, but i swear something is different about Kirstie…. could it be a new hair style?  Spock!  Spock!!  Wake up!  You’re sleeping through a plot twist!"

Okay, I'm at a loss, here.

I replaced the Legendary Demon character with Nosferatu for G2M, and I'm seeing the same exploding-mesh issue; in this case, it basically covers almost the entire viewport, a uniform dark gray, with just a tiny bit of the scene in the lower-left corner.

I'm not sure what's going on, but for some inexplicable reason, the Demone Hall scene simply does not like to see more than one G2M figure/character in it.  Or something.  Whatever....

I do have an M3 character that would be appropriate for the scene, but I'm going to have to go into Blender and Gimp to work out the textures (and I'm seeing some normals issues, as well; hence, Blender), so there's still a chance that I can salvage this pull.

    Pray for me....

    What clothes are you using?

The exploding mesh is usually the effect of bad mesh in combination with smoothing and collision, where the bad mesh self collides.

At the risk of giving away the gag (which at this point seems magnificently irrelevant), I'm using -- or trying to use -- the Short Order Cook out fit for Genesis.  I've never had any issues with Auto-Fit before, but hey -- maybe I'm due....

That one usually works, but with weird morphs you might end up with "self intersecting polygons", and then, as you probably know, division by zero is really fun.

Thank you Chanteur-de-Vent, (may you have a safe and fun trip). Thank you luci45, Totte and Gopherus.

    luci45 - Great gelatinous gargoyles.

Totte - #7 hum, this could be a long journey. #8 love the lighting in the night museum.

Gopherus - While the good doctor and Spock enjoyed a "special" relationship, the two of them roasting marshmallows and singing row, row, row, your boat - I don't know about that... LOL.

Saphirewild - interesting time warp bus stop - comfy.

OBanion - Good luck - I've got my fingers crossed.

@Purrkat  Thanks for the comments.  You, me and the rest of the world rolled its collective eyes when Spock, Jim and McCoy did just that - roast marshmelons and sing row row row your boat - in Yosemite Park in the final scene in Star Trek V.  Sorry to hear about your eye, especially when you made such a perfect draw.... Big Cat 2 and Sandy Hair... a perfect christmas render... you know... Sandy Claws.  (arrgh! I m feeling like Mr. Peabody)
