wahhh they throwing out my shipping materials, foams and whatnots i've gathered from received equipment.  they said i have bubblewrap.

well if civilization has bubble wrap, why do othe companies ship stuff in other than bubblewrap.
they throwing out my shipping boxes, because we can get shipping boxes from companies in the area.
by the 2 people who don't ship stuff. >.<

feh.  13 years in this job, apparently i don't know what i'm doing. they know my job better than i do.

    ...

I fought and fought to create and maintain a library of software boxes, manuals, CDs and associated materials.  I finally got them to let me convert a storeroom into a library and move a couple of five-tier shelves in there.  I diligently watched that library to make sure we always had the information we needed at a moments notice.  Some of those materials were $50,000 licensed applications with two feet of manuals.  But nobody respected the library.  Every couple of weeks I had to run around asking everybody who had what and shaming people to give back a CD or a manual.  I'm sure after I left that the library evaporated in just a few weeks frown

I also had all my cables individually stored in plastic zip bags, even big cables that needed super large plastic bags that I bought with my own money.  The special cables that went to specific devices with oddball connectors even had a 3x5 card in the bag identifying what it was for.   I hated going to a drawer and finding 50 cables all tangled up together and spending a half hour trying to find a necessary cable and extracting it. Or finding an oddball cable and wondering what the hell this went to. angry Once I got it all sorted people would gladly come to me to ask for a cable and I could give it to them in 15 seconds.  But I know after I left that nobody kept up the practice.  Yes, it bothers me that people just didn't appreciate what I did for them but it's their loss not mine.  I can't stand disorganization even in my own home.  No, I'm not obsessive compulsive, just logical and diligent.

Their jobs so slow, they need to worry about mine?  let's see where they scatter when it's time to pack for shipping.  i can't even go in the store room, just upsets me.

...ahh, now that's cable management at it's best. If I were an electrician coming in to troubleshoot something that's what I'd like to see.

Reminds me of the days when people actually did things like use real programming style and document their code.

Organisation, it's a lost art today.

I comiserate.  I coasted for 8 years until I could get Social Security.  Dropped from a 6 figure research/engineering job to fixing home PCs from a bicycle.  Bringing in about $600 in a good month.  Learned how to be happy with less.

Morning. You can almost hear the parched earth sigh as a bunch of white-edged puffy grey clouds bearing an empty promise of rain scud south and out to the ocean before a hot North wind :)

I went to the pool.  Now waiting for my ride home.  I called my ride to give them half an hour notice but got a hold of the wrong person who fumbled in giving the response to the right person.  Had to call the ride half an hour later to find out she was not on her way.  Now to wait a bit longer.

Or more probably smart hardware pixel interpolation.  Possibly "bicubic"?

Morning. A scent of rain in the air before dawn evaporated as the sun came up in a big bright blue cloudless sky, perhaps it will rain tomorrow :)

...kind of felt the same way after what I did for that company (at very low pay) including seriosuly streamlining their billing process.

...looks like that ol' coot winter has finally lost his grip on us as conditions are much improved today. Nice & sunny out today with temperatures 10º - 15º warmer than we've been for the last week.

More improvement on the way through Friday.

    Market run in a bit.
