If you think about it, DAZ had a better "Daily Mind Blower" last December, when some truely awesome products were 75% off with the purchase of a new release. I think that qualifies as simple. (And while you did need to purchase a new release to trigger the discount, there were several to choose from.)
fast grab seems to be more interesting at the moment
The one thing that I really like is that there is no "no return if bought with discount" - which was the case in earlier sales with punches ...
Agreed. I've been ignoring March Madness and raiding the great deals that have been coming up in Fast Grab instead. Much better.
I don't understand the rambling about forced to buy daily and every Mindblower.
If you are at the New Stuff (which I belive this sale is mainly about) and the Mad Artist Catalogs and not at the daily changing "Old Stuff" Categories "Related Mad" and "Even More Madness" you have 3 days time to buy.
So if at least one of every 3 Mindblowers is something you like you are fine. And so far all Mindblowers where top notch products (if you need them is another issue).
If you have bought The Girl Pro Bundle the MM deals are pretty god because deals with more than 60% off for non-DO items are pretty rare.
If you don't have bought the Girl Pro Bundle it is an ok sale but it might be worth to wait for better deals if you are willing to wait for them a couple of months.
Wellllll - deals with more than 60% off on non-DOs is what we are expecting - it was usual once upon a time (and even happened in February, which is why a lot of us remember it).
OK, not on new items (not anymore nowadays) - but you have to have a lot of money to have gotten the Girl Pro Bundle and those Mindblowers (which usually are heavypriced bundles) on top of that to get nice deals. There was more Madness in earlier March Madnesses (getting a new item for $3.40 or something like that ...).
Color me unimpressed with the M4/V4 character sale mentioned in the email (although there is no mention of it on the front page for some reason). The email says they are more than 50% off, but I am seeing discounts of just 40%, and it appears they do not stack with MM. Given that M4/V4 stuff has been offered fairly consistently at 80% off during promotions in the last couple of years or so, 40-50% does not exactly blow me away!
Yeah "more than 50% off" means if you buy 2 and the daily mind blower you get to 55% (or happened to buy the Girl 7 Pro Bundle, which would also get you to 55% or 60%? for both.)
Those V4/M4 savings! The madness gets madder~
The V4/M4 sale is just a regular part of MM, and its discounts work the same way: 40% or 50%, plus mind blower or girl6 bonuses. It was G2 characters yesterday, and no doubt G1 characters will get their turn.
Personally, I never buy V4/M4 content at less than 80% off. If I see something I like, I just wishlist it till the next 80% sale comes around.
Those are no longer MM items, with the exception of the Iray Smart Conveter, so you aren't getting any extra discounts.
I didn't buy The Girl Pro bundle either. Partly because I've got more than enough female characters, but mostly because she's too toon-like for my needs. I could use bigger discounts on some of the newer stuff, sure, but I've no use for The Girl Pro bundle. On the other hand, I expect the more realistic newer stuff will hold no interest for buyers of The Girl Pro bundle who wanted her specifically for her toon-like qualities and render little else. They'd be no more willing to buy 'mindblowing' stuff they didn't want just to get money off something they did want than I am. Which is what I meant about maximum discounts being excluded to a lot of people. With the wide range of styles and interests that Daz can cater to, if you base discounts around a single product then you're always going to exclude a lot of people.
Double post
Kevin, there might be a catchup sale, where it goes back onto MM.
My exact thoughts as well! Harpsburg is so beautiful and detailed too.
Yes, the discount on the surface does seem to be better. The only difference is that there were a lot of spontaneous sales with massive discounts on top of MM. There was one part of the sale with 70% off Genesis items! Not to mention that some items from Gen3 onward are now a little more expensive than before...
A full breakdown of last year's sales are on Indigo Janson's site: http://indigojanson.com/3d-models-artwork/what-was-on-sale-when-daz3d/
It would be nice if the discounts were greater, but I really appreciate them being fairly sensible (except with the usual sales definition of 'stacking')
Well if you look around it is amazing what you can find DAZ_Steve said
LOL wow, that's an amazing deal for anyone who needs V7/G3 :)
That's a fair point; the prices *are* sensible in the grand scheme of things. It's just that, in comparison to previous years, this year's MM is a bit... underwhelming?
But people wanted a simple sale, and you got a simple sale!
Yeah, but March Madness is meant to be a highlight of the year, is it not?
It's not "this by itself is a bad sale" it's "this is not a highlight of the year to save for."
- There were several simple sales last month offering much better value (RDNA merger especially, also good pro bundle release deals, 4.9 release, etc.)
- Genesis 2 was also offered recently at better value that MM did the other day (V. Day especially.)
- V4 and M4 have been regularly offered at 80% in the past 6 months.
- I don't remember the details of the PA sale but that might have been similar to this? The rev ups were kind of a mess so it's hard to tell.
- The PC+ sale offered much more (which my understanding is that it's meant to be a comparitive sale to MM.)
- The Xmas Punchard sale offered much more, especially once they stopped expiring weekly.
Maybe I'm just misunderstanding things and March wasn't meant to be a special event?
Personally I usually just save my money for the 60% PA sales because those tend to out-do most other sales you'll see (plus the terms and conditions are far simpler).
.. and I LOVE that simple sale !
I've spend more than $125 the first week getting already 12 new releases, combining those for nice discounts with another 20 or so older items from my wishlist - compared to ONE punch I had when the last punch sale ended.
This one might not look so exciting at first sight but I for myself don't really expect the awesome participating PAs to give away their new releases for almost nothing (say 70% or more off) as I'm quite sure they have to eat and pay for their living even in March. At least I think so, correct me if I'm wrong.
I know many people - and I do not exclude myself here - complain for this and that and there are even reasons to complain about prices sometimes - but I cannot do that here at all. Having bought the Girl 7 bundle I get almost 60% on NEW PA items - and even without that bundle I could get 55% - I definitely don't want to wait for just 'similar discounts in couple months' - even the flash sales usually aren't better than 60% (Pa items). And I don't expect that specific new item I like in fastgrab soon.
[hint] It still would be nice to fire up the next week with some additional DOs in the mix that are even more affordable especially for PC members and I think it would be a great idea to throw in another new figure release with Starter/Pro bundles that might come with the same additional 10% discount on MM items like the Girl 7 did - for those who did not get or want her for whatever reason. And thinking further .. maybe the Starter could even be good for 5% ;-) [/hint]
So I want to say: THANK YOU DAZ AND ALL PARTICIPATING PAs ! LOVE WITH WHAT YOU CAME UP SO FAR !
Now go on complaining about whatever or nothing, but it had to be said.. ;)
Noting that recent sales of older items far outshine the current sale of older items is not the same thing as asking for new releases at 70% off. The new release sales are great. The older companion sales going on, not so much.
No, PA sale is the best of the best for PA's
I agree, no one is saying that this is a bad sale for new releases, quite the opposite, 40-60% off for new releases is very generous. However for older stuff (by which I mean stuff 60+ days old, so not that old), the back end of last month had much better deals. If MM is to continue as mainly as good deals on new releases, for me personally it is not that big an issue. I spent quite a lot in January and Febuary, so a quiet month is not a bad thing.
Edit: I should add that DAZ_Steve's little offer referenced by Chohole above is a very good deal for older items, even better than last month, and a good offer for those that don't have the items listed (although I am only missing 1 thing in that list).
The thing I liked about this sale is that there's been a sale on items I haven't seen discounted before, which is nice.
50% sale on something you want is better than a 80% sale that doesn't apply to what you want. ;)
I even LOVE the almost 60% on 60+ days PA items I get when they become part of some MM categories, no matter what 'better' discounts some other items had before - those on my wishlist are no older than a year and whenever one lights up, into the cart it goes. I don't wanna wait until it's 70% or 80% or even 90% .. whenever or if ever that might be.
The PA sale may have been the best for PAs, but the discounts during MM were still pretty generous in the previous years...
And to echo some of the previous posters: the discount for new items is pretty good. It's the 'other' sales for back-catalogued items that are the problem, especially in light of previous promotions in the past three or so months.
The PA sale concentrates on the PAs, MM is more influenced by DOs
