Yes, I did get it.  Then I got distracted searching for a friend of ours I had not seen or heard from in 2 days.  Found him in a local hospital.  Not good.  Tomorrow is our annual Kite Festival, 20% chance of rain.  SXSW starts the 11th.  In addition to the usual madness, the Prez and Mrs. will be in town.  Harry the Horse is now installed in my Library and works.  Got a purchase to complete over at Dana's site.  The bus to the hospital only runs every 65 minutes, so I'm looking for a car to steal.  Not to worry, this is the way I ramble with only 1 cup of coffee.

    wish I was there :)

I somehow got into a payment arrangement with my cell phone company to pay more than I owe.  I called them to get out of it.  At first they said I could not.  I was frustrated as my first payment would be more than what I owe.  Finally I got out of it as long as I pay what I really owe by the due date.  Maybe I can afford something for March madness.

Trying to watch Criminal Minds on Netflix but it is buffering.  It is the first episode of the series where a gal in Seatle test drives a car she finds on some site.  For some reason I do not trust the guy who wants to sell her his car.  I resummed  the show and I am proven right.  She wants him to pull over and let her out of the car but he refuses.  Maybe it is because of the name of the show makes me think that something would go wrong.

we're used to determinism but what if physics suddenly changed? Back in the day there was beliefs that different parts of the world had different physics, for example geography ran out and you fell off tge edge of the world :)

I fell off the edge once.

That's an entertaining idea, it would be a great premise for a book.  Here modern science has spend decades narrowing down the rules of the universe and physics, but the rules are subtly changing.  It would probably be attributed to math errors, software bugs, incorrect or wild crazy theories that were OBVIOUSLY incorrect.  Cold fusion?  pffff!  we can't replicate that, obviously they incorrect.   Gah!  immagine how messed up things would get if the coefficient of friction started changing at randin by a few percent...   I wonder how long it would take anybody to figure out.  Or the colors red and green swapped overnight... (ok, fine, that wouldn't work but you get the idea.)

in other complaints - wth happened to health ins the last 15 years.

the ins company i never heard of, isnt an ins company, CDHP  stands for  'consumer driven health plan' for bugarsed ridiculous deductable thats designed to go with a hsa plan, no worries is pretax.  2,000 dollar deductible. no-co-pays.  ise spposed to put money every week into an hsa account.  y'know, thats still my money paying the bill.  benefits lady is raving i can contribute up to over 3 grand a year.  i interrupt her, noo i cant.  thats like 300$ a month, in addition to the 30 bucks a week to pay the enrollment fees.  these are the single person fees.  people with kids, deductable is like near 7 grand.  they made it the patient's responsibility to shop around for best price on medical procedures and stuff.

Sounds like your company didn't shop around much themselves...or they just went with a really crappy plan that they didn't have to invest much into.

    Dana

so this isnt the new normal?

...nope, the company I used to work for did a similar thing. To save money they went with a cheaper more bare bones plan with a high deductible, lower copay, high "out of pocket" limit and pretty much only covered expenses if something happened. So if you already had arthritis or were a diabetic, you were on our own for those expenses as they were considered "pre-existing" before enrollment (status on our former plan did not carry over).

Our previous plan was incredible as it had only a 450$ deductible generous copay and also offered many preventive medicine programmes that were free. I actually was able to have a Naturopath as my PCP who was wonderful. When the company changed carriers I couldn't remain with her as the new plan was affiliated with a different competing centre. Fortunately health coverage was not mandatory back then so I just opted out and went without. The monthly premium employees had to pay for the new coverage was actually a few dollars more than the one we previously had.

ise so disgusted, finally bonafide insured, and still can't go. i'll never has 2 grand, i could get lightwave for half that.

There was a time when physicists were not sure that the same physics applied everywhere in the Universe.  But then facts started streaming in and it appears that physics is the same everywhere in this Universe.  So in order to save face they invented more universes! devil

We had snow today -- for ten whole minutes! It was a real blink and you've missed it affair. Nevertheless, it's the only snow we've had all winter!

Back in around '88 or '89, the company I was working for seconded me to a new office in Dallas for three months. It was a strange experience for a young Englishman. Hot weather. sunshine. The Cowboys cheerleaders. not being able to buy beer without driving halfway across the country, yet everyone had a gun. Kids with guns. Cops with guns. Picking up blister packs of ammo in the supermarket along with the cornflakes. Cars that you need a taxi to get from the drivers seat to the passenger seat (I don't think they'd even fit on our roads!). But the weirdest thing of all was the roadrunner that chased the car every morning to the office. Meep meep.

You have to understand, this was a creature that only existed in cartoons as far as I was concerned. I simply had no idea they were real!

road runners sound like galahs wothout the wings :)

    galah birds ....  cute

Oh, gee...a friend in the hospital is more important than my site!  Hope he is in good care and condition is improving!

    Dana

ETA: Around here, if the chance of rain is 30% or higher, I say it's going to rain!  20% is pretty close and means it will probably rain.  It also depends on how far out the prediction is.  A week and it's pretty much a rumor.  Even two days is sometimes not close enough to be correct.  We've had predictions of 6 to 8 inch snow accumulation two days out...when the storm actually got here, it was too far off shore to even give us a coating.

I only started watching a few years ago.  I haven't seen the first few years.  Mandy Patinkin was in it at the beginning, wasn't he?  Please no spoiler!  I hope to watch it someday.

keep an eye on the minimum requirements there, Mac OS is free so as long as you got the h/w requirements right you can buy second hand, upgrade the os for free and buy FC Pro. The Sony s/w has a good rep tho...
