Well, if you're doing superheroes where will they get their awesome hair?
I've got 18 items in my cart right now that are top priority. I hope one or some of them go on sale (although they are older items) because I'm not buying anyhting else until those are all purchased. (That takes a whole lotta will-power!)
Waiting for payday. Loving the hair salon and DA Palm Island. They are gorgeous! And the honeymoon poses are very romantic and sweet. Definitely picking those up as well! I'm thinking those could all work well together, lol.
Ayunia, G3F? Meh. Still waiting.
(Oddly, a really compelling Mind Blower might have me go back and get that salon after all... mmm...)
... Ah, the list of related Madness items seems to change. Maybe daily?
That's unfortunate, because I was hoping to get a good combination of items to buy. At this point my chance of going with a sale is low.
(like, for example, yesterday Fly and Wasp were on the list, today they are not)
You can pretty much guarantee at this point that there'll be a catchup "all items back on sale" day (probably a weekend) since that happens with most longer sales.
Does anybody know how long products might stay in the "Still mad" section? Guess two days, right? Today's mindblower is not for me as I'm more than equipped with characters. That said, I've recently got P3D Maria and Sylk over at Rando. Can only highly recommend both.
I'm expecting (but not counting on) a catch-up day too. Yet another young and sexy white female character seems an odd choice of a 'mindblower' in a sale that the community has learned to excitedly anticipate for months in advance. I wouldn't expect something as interesting or made with standards as high as the hair salon every day for a month, but today's offering is so... meh - no tattoos or interesting morphs that might mark it out as 'different' in any way, and not even any 3DL materials. I'd like to think our minds are not blown that easily :)
My guess is two days in the Still Mad section. Maybe three? I'd be pleasantly surprised to see anything in there for longer.
I've been reviewing last year's March Madness, starting here, to see how this year compares, and to get a feel for what might be coming up over the next few weeks.
Last year you could buy one MM new release at 40% off, and two at 50% off. If you bought two, you'd also get a free item (which changed every few days). The freebies on offer included Victoria 6, Michael 6 and Gia 6 at different times in the month, as well as some new items, There were catch-up sales at the weekend. Alongside this offer there were some good sales later in the month - 70% off Genesis, 90% off selected characters, 50% off the whole store.
So this year is already better, in my view. The chance to trigger the 50% discount with a wider range of cheaper non-new-release items is better, along with the extra savings on offer with the Mind Blower (I don't think I got any of the freebies last year, I never found two new releases I wanted at once). If they have some additional sales with 70%+ off, I'll be happy.
Major Daz Sales are a bit like a fireworks display: there are a few ooh's and ahh's early on, but the really dramatic stuff comes near the end. Hoping for some big bangs this year!
I ended up breaking down and getting the salon today (which is kind of dumb, but whatevs)
You are not alone in that my friend. As soon as my mind came up with a legitimate (i.e. flimsy, but enough to push me over the edge) excuse as to why I absolutely needed it, it was in my cart before I could say boo! And, I can't even play with it yet because DS is STILL rendering something it has been rendering for the last two days! I do have a great idea for using it though. I can't wait to load it up and have a go at it.
Since you already know the pain of long render times, I'll share something with you. When doing the promos for the salon, I was able to greatly decrease my render time by deleting anything from the scene that wasn't visible in the render (keeping in mind things reflected in the mirrors). Simply hiding them in the scene tab didn't seem to make much difference, but actually deleting them from the scene helped a lot.
If I could find an auto mechanic shop as detailed as that Salon, I could probably start up the comic I've been kicking around on my hard drive.
It's on my list :). You are right though, it will be a ton of work. All those tools, and greasy parts everywhere, and the lift, etc. It will be one of those things I probably work on in chunks so that it doesn't keep me from submitting new items for a long period of time. The salon took 2 months to finish
I will have to try that on my next project. My current one just finished about 20 minutes ago. I still have some postwork to do, but I'll do that later. Usually, I just hide things in the scene tab, but I'll try deleting what I don't need for a shot and just save that as its own file so I can still go back if I decide to make changes. Something I learned I should always do the hard way. Anyway, I've got the salon loaded up now and I'll be playing with that tonight.
Well, Eleanor's gonna have fun with it. If I may ask one thing, make it easy to replace the name on any signage please. :)
Good idea. In most cases, though, opening the texture file in Photoshop or similar program should let you create a texture with a different name on it
Good point. I'm so bad with Photoshop that I forget it's an option.
Yes, that could limite it's use BUT- you don't have to use it for a Hair Salon. The vendor was careful to give you a good walk-in business setup, with a receptionist and waiting area, and you also get a good exterior that could be any business. It's versatile. Good detail.
I really like the beauty salon. So realistic I'm not sure if it doesn't look better than most characters. :-)
So far nothing has tempted me to buy. Maybe when we get more men's content and scifi!
I want to buy the salon just because its awesome lol. Unfortunately I can't justify it since the chances of my doing a render that isn't fantasy or medieval based are very very slim. But should I have the urge to do something with a store or salon in the future I went ahead and put it in my wish list just in case. And because its so cool to look at lol.
I've been playing with the salon tonight. I'm so glad I decided to go ahead and get it. I have to say SloshWerks did an amazing job. And, it is really a kitbashers's dream product as there are so many items in there that could be used with other things. Everything that I've tested out moves and can be split apart or pulled into another environment. I've only tested the Iray version out so far, but it renders perfectly without my doing anything to it yet! I love the effect I got with the mirrors sitting across from each other! Wow. I'm actually going to have to actually set up a real render to take advantage of that somehow. If I had any complaints, it would be that there doesn't seem to be a book of haircuts from which to choose for the 'clients'. But that is just being way too picky, especially since I can have fun setting up some head shots of different cuts using hair that I have and make my own book.
I, also, have to give SloshWerks kudos for making it super easy to set up the salon. It didn't take all that long to set up with all of the presets included with the set. And, I love how the blinds work. Like actually work! I'm not sure I've seen that in many of the products that I've gotten from other vendors. And then, there is an actual exterior. I'm already trying to see what I have that I can load in with it to get a nice shot for a "outside looking in" type of shot. I could go on, but you get the idea. Anyway, anyone, on the fence about getting this, should really consider snapping it up.
So how does Still Mad work? I haven't been keeping full track of releases, but it seems like there are 8 a day but Still Mad maxes out at 12? So did 2 items from each day drop off, or 4 from one, or were there only 6 releases on the past two days and my memory is terrible?
Silver's character today is beautiful as ever, but I keep reminding myself that I already have a lot of beautiful Silver characters (even ones that I've gone out of my way to buy base models for solely for Silver's characters.) A new West Park segment makes me really happy but not sure if I'll get it today or wait to see what tomorrow brings to pair it up with.
As of today, we can send Vicky to get her hair done whilst we go to the pub!
The main picture on the Gastro Pub is amazing - it really looks like a photo, except for the signage which is glaringly artificial. Nothing that couldn't be fixed with a little work dirtying up the textures though.
I thought it was especially cool that the pub has been designed to link in with the Northern Terrace set too. Great potential for an English series!
Nice chunk of PC+ items in this round...spent 20 took a healthy chunk out of my wishlist
If your not a subscriber, and you buy stuff, your shooting yourself in the foot
I got $240 worth of stuff for $19 and some change
do the math
If you alreay bought an item, it's not showing up. But depending on the time of the day, the display of items can be botched up, too.
Greetings,
I have to admit; I wanna know the rules too... How long before things rotate off the 'Still Mad' list? We're in the awkward startup phase, where because everything's still there, we only know that it's at least 3 days,,.
I really do want that salon, but neither of the characters has been compelling to me AND nothing that was released at the same time as it was compelling...argh.
It may be worth the extra couple of bucks to just buy it and not worry about it dropping off...it looks really great.

Oh, right, there were only 6 each day previously. So things are in Still Mad for at least 2 days, but we don't know yet when they drop off.
