I guess Daz skipped 29 February ... now that is madness wink

Well, thus far, too much for me to spend after what I spent on the most recent sales, but it's my birthday today so with any luck I'll get some way to buy something. :)

It's my tenth birthday and I'm turning forty. 10-40 in tax season. there's a special kind of madness there. :)

Happy Birthday! Spend it well! (pun intended).

Must have missed my later post. :)

No, you can buy ANY of the items, for example, two items from the "even more Madess", to get the higher discount

Ah, I didn't pick up on that this morning. That makes things slightly better: I take as the starting point that pretty much everything in the store is regularly sold at 50% off if you're prepared to wait, so there's no reason to buy anything you wouldn't normally get. Items for older generations have seen deeper discounts in the past: V4/M4 at 80% off, G1 at 70% off and G2 at 60% off. So if we look at what's on offer...

    Standard madness discount: 40%
Buy 2 or more (from any of the day's mad categories) but not including the "mind blower": 50%
Buy 2 or more including the "mind blower": 55%

If you have Girl7 Pro, the discounts will (I believe, but am not in a position to prove) be 46%, 55% and 60% respectively.

So that's a respectable discount, but nothing to go crazy over. One good thing is that PC+ items in the list are included in the sale, when they often aren't.

So the bottom line is (cash reserves permitting) -

    • If you like the daily mind blower and there's at least one other MM item you want to buy (especially if it isn't for V4/M4/G1/G2), get it. You're getting a reasonable, but not crazy deal.
    • If you're in the PC+ and there are PC+ items you like, get them. Even if there's just one of them, you're getting 40% off an already deep discount and that doesn't usually happen
    • Otherwise, hang on to your money. I'm sure there will be pleasant surprises in store if we just wait for them.

Oh, and I'm loving the Alice-in-Wonderland-meets-the-Time-Tunnel looks of the sale page, by the way.

That would be 60% for Buy 2+ including mind blower.

Are you sure? I thought the Mind Blower discount stacked (that is, multiplied) which would be 55% as chris-2599934 says

That's not the conventional definition of 'stack' but hey, it's Daz, maybe you're right.

Did a quick test, it is indeed 55% and my loathing for creative 'sales math' makes me that less likely to buy. mutter

  • Interesting, but not really tempting, so far. At least, not after what I spent in the RDNA whatsit sale; got a lot of good stuff in the last week, but I'm all sale'd out for now unless something really spectacular turns up.

You are correct in that PC+ items are not normally included in sale discounts, but over the last 3 days all PC+ items were 60% off, not just the MM ones. I guess the deal will look sweeter later as our memory of the last weekend starts to fade.

It's not "creative", it's how percentage adjustments should combine.

  • Well really, having to run everything through a calculator before buying does kinda detract from the shopping experience, regardless of how the math is done. (And sadly one does have to run it through a calculator just to catch when the store software doesn't calculate properly)

The Hair Salon looks AMAZING, but I have pretty much no use for that room

I feel the same way. Slosh did an incredible job with this product. If I weren't scraping by this month, I'd have bought it on principle only. Such incredible work needs to be both rewarded and encouraged. I know this set will end up in my cart someday.

I totally agree that the hair salon looks like a top quality product. Obviously a lot of effort and care went into creating that. I've thought about picking it up, but I just can't think of a use for it /shrug

    Happy birthday!

Well, since the first thing my birthday has given me is $60 in overdraft fees that shouldn't have happened, I don't think I'll be getting much this MM...

I'm so sorry to hear that. I've made a miscalculation or two at the wrong time, myself. I ended up moving all my accounts to a credit union, and rarely have that problem now.

I hope you will have a wonderful day, anyway. Hugs.

Same here.  Although it is tempting, I absolutely can't spend any money after all of the sales with the exception of one or two products I know are coming out soon and have already saved back the funds for them.  I'm just tapped out for the moment and it will have to take steeper discounts to make me change my mind.

Thanks, everybody, for the kind compliments on the hair salon.  Obviously, it would thrill me if everyone bought it now, but I do understand the realities of life :). The salon grew out of sheer coincidence, it was never an intentional creation.  I needed a barber's chair for another thing I'm working on, so I made one.  Then it looked stupid without the styling station.  Then, I needed to add more, then more, etc.  Before I knew it, that's what I ended up with.

My current project is just as detailed as the hair salon, but hopefully a lot more versatile... That's all I will say for now :). Hopefully, some will find that the salon comes with so many props and settings that they will see another use for it.  Magazines, plants, a beautiful empty room, lots of seating options, etc.  Even a cool (I hope) exterior.  Not to mention the lighting and environment settings that I use in my interior promos.

Anyway, it feels really good to me to see so many positive comments about the salon.  I was really nervous about it, being my first crack at an environment, and I wasn't sure how well it would be received by those who are used to me making clothing or morphs or uv sets.

yeah, mine just did an upgrade to their systems that wiped out alert settings and automatic transfers.

The salon is a lovely set, and I've got characters that would fit right in with it, hopefully I'll be able to get it someday soon.

Given that the item is riding high at the top of the What's Hot list, it seems a lot of people are finding a use for it. I agree with all the other comments, this is a high quality scene and more versatile than appears at first glance.

Its definitely a fantastic product Slosh. I have put it on my wishlist for now and I know that isn't much comfort for a PA but I'll probably pick it up at some point once I've used a few more of the current sets in my library that are still waiting to see the light of day. Even if I can't find a use for a hair salon the room alone looks really versatile and I could see me using it for other settings perhaps.

With the right props it could also make a nice bar/pub.

I bought the Hair Salon and some of sloshs morphs that I wanted.  I love anything to do with hairdressing and the Hair Salon it's beatiful - Now I just have to convert it to Poser lol

  • Sorry, the $1 stuff is for subscribers

    my bag.

I hope they rotate all the items, not just the mind blowers, then maybe I can

find some items on my wishlist

Honestly, the only things holding me back at all are that (1) I really don't need it; I just want it real bad (I have one great idea for it ... but just one), and  (2) Needs hair in curlers! (There's a propschick version at another store, but still ...)

On the other hand, with stacking discounts kicking the discount to 60% off (I sent it through an online calculator, since my basic math is not the greatest sometimes), it's not likely to be available at a much better price than this.

I'm also impressed that it has a modeled/textured exterior; these types of environments usually don't.

    Decisions, decisions ...

  • A suggestion...perhaps

give everyone a day where everybody is a subscriber !

warn them, so they are ready

as a subscriber, it won't hurt my feelings

and non-subs can go nuts with PC+

    might even encourage subscriptions

    there, my idea

Yeah, I thought that was really cool. Don't think I have seen a page like that before. The hair salon looks really great, but I wasn't seeing a use for it. Plus I've already blown too much the last few sales, I'm trying to restrict myself to things I 'need' more.

Protest it, then. Worst case, they say nice things but nothing changes. But if you had automatic transfers in place that would have prevented the overdrafts, they may well credit you back the $60. All you have to lose is "a few" minutes of your time. (It's worked for me, even once when it really was my own fault!)

DAZ did that not too long ago. And subscibers got deeper discounts than usual on DOs. I don't believe it was in the midst of a big sale, though...

  • ya, just give them a taste...

Already done, just have to wait for it to go through management for approval. Sigh.  Still got in some unexpected moneys so I grabbed the Salon.  Gonna put together a decent version of my character Charlotte to run the place. :)

Well, I think you can be proud of it.  It looks like a wonderful set and I already have tons of ideas that could use it.  Believe me, once I have a little more spending money, it will be in my cart!  Love the promos for it.  And, it looks like there is a ton of stuff in there.
