Looks like it was meant to come with the textures before they were separated for a freebie - forgot to fix the text on the product so its currently a bit misleading:

5 Texture Options

  • Banderillero
  • Capeador
  • Picador
  • Tauromachain
  • Toreador
  • 132 Texture, Bump and Specular Maps (3000 x 3000)

    Freebie?  did I miss something?

Uh, apparently. When the page first went up, the Bandolera textures were marked as free. That happens a lot when items are first listed, but I could have sworn the text also said that it was being offered as a freebie for the week o.O

I have no idea if I'm imagining things or not o.o

It is a cute outfit, tho the skirt is a little shorter than I like.  I don't know if I am going to put it on my wishlist or not.  The Promo images don't tempt me any more than the main image does.  If the textures were free, I might have tried to find the funds, but I don't need the outfit right now.

  • *Shrug* it's encrypted, I'm not even gonna bother till next year.

Meh.  I like a fair amount of the PA's other work, like Alchemist, Songstress, that Steampunk Aviatrix outfit, and Night Shade (or as I call it "The Gothic Loli Pirates of Tripoli outfit with Ninja Boots"), but this one doesn't excite me.  Reminds me of the time I bought Gaucho Girl (from another PA team) on extreme sale basically for the Zorro hat and the jewelry.

An actual Zorro or Matador outfit for either gender...that would be cool though.  But that would involve actually covering arms, legs, and parts of the throat and chest, so it would be too difficult for most people to rig and wouldn't sell :P

(Edited to remove a bit that looked like a diss on the PA's modelling skills.  I was more grumbling about the general policy of avoiding certain tricky joints and how that seemed to contribute to the skimpwear trend.

  • In a year I may pick it up too if on sale as G2F stuff works perfectly well in Carrara but not as a DAZ connect file.

  • Personally, I'd look for stuff from them that isn't also a DAZ Original, since the sales or lack thereof, won't affect the PA, like it would if their own stores were directly affected by the encryption.

  • I don't think vendors get a choice if its a DO

I have grabbed DAZ connect freebies and props I can export to Carrara as FBX or obj but not a rigged outfit so no point in even considering it as even saving as a new support asset the UV mapping messes up on encrypted duf files in Carrara and completely collapses in Poser DSON imports.

I'm not sure I understand the purpose of encrypting texture sets if the texture maps themselves aren't being encrypted.  Sure you can encrypt the presets, but that can be gotten around pretty easily.  Oh well *scratches head, muttering*

(Edit - Same thing for poses now that I think about it.  Huh?)

Edit: Someone who purchased this should post if the textures are or are not encrypted.

The jpg's aren't encrypted, just the presets.

Note:  so far the only encrypted content has been Daz Originals.

Have you verified that or going under the assumpt that thewy are not encrypted based on past posts? Just wondering if a mistake may have been made.

Encryption is supported only for native Daz Studio formats - .duf, .dsf and the script formats (.dsa, .dsb and .dse). I'm not sure about .daz. But certaionly not for Poser formats, OBJ, or textures.

    The full encrypted list is:

.duf, .dsf, .dhdm, .ds, .dsa, .dsb, .dse

Any textures, objects, poser format files, txt readme's or whatever else is thrown in a package doesn't get encrypted on encrypted-only products.

Bam, from the horses mouth straight to you.

  • Thanks, was curious if it was possible to accidenttly end up with encrypted textures.

Yea its cute outfit, But its encrypted so not cute enough to me, too be worth the inconeviencen to buy it. i didn't even wishlist it. maybe someday it will show up in the fast grabs or the feebie section unencrypted  ina few years..  I passed on all 5 new items  as they were encryoted.  But i did spend enough on the older unencrypted stuff that was on sale anyway so it made up for it.

Plus Venus.com is having a heck of a spring clothing sale this week and I had a 50% off coupon i got in the mail.. so I bought some "real clothes" I could wear myself this time around , which cost about the same as the  3d colthing I buy here..lol  I got a cute one peice bathing suite and some leggings for about $40 ..its not going to be long before its spring break.   Bring on the beach weather.
