Transplanting body parts between figures

Is it possible to mix figure parts while anchoring the movement properly? Example what I would like to do: load a genesis 1 figure and hide the arm starting from should. Load a genesis 3 figure and hide everything except the arm. Position both figures so the shoulders overlap. So far so good but now the problem starts: how to anchor the visible shoulder to the other figure. It should be similar to a staff, weapon and such. When they are parented to the hand they will always move in relation to the hand position. Is there a way to do this with an arm from a figure inside DS?

You could parent the first figure to the second figure's chest and use collision to get the skin to somewhat cover the seam.
But it'll look terrible, most likely.
Thanks, the parent part works. For collision I tried with the smooth modifier but it changes also the parts further away as I can only apply it to the whole figure and the invisible parts overlap further outside.
