will daz come up with alternative tools like 3dxchange? anyone use akeytsu?

Will daz come up with alternative tools like 3dxchange? (export to other soft like unreal, unity, modo, max, maya, c4d, lightwave, blender,...)

'm thinking of buying 3dxhange for quick bhv editing (motionbuilder to high and don't like autodesk at all) and it export to unity, unreal....,  i don't really need iclone as it's to low poly stuff for me, it have physX with sprite creation (softbody) another feature 'm still missing in dazstudio.

Anyone use akeytsu animator?
just played with "akeytsu" and love it! Dazstudio still have no real good solution to do animation becaeuse of the ik problems, but for now it seems i need 3dxchange to make the rig usefull for dazstudio.

so would it be best to go for 3dxchange now or some kind of alternatives expected soon? now with the launch of morph3d...

  • Can you elaborate a bit on what features you are looking for?  You can currently import BVH files into Daz, then export an FBX with animations that Unity can import.  Are you looking for more options on the BVH import?

If you haven't tried it already, KeyMate greatly improves the keyframing experience and is a good way to clean up imported BVH animations:

You need iclone to use 3Dxchange and pro at that to use pipeline that exports

it will not work without iClone installed, everything greyed out.

want a universal tool, get Ultimate Unwrap 3D and all its plugins, most of the common ones work in 64bit the more obscure things like Bethsada nif need 32bit

    it polyreduces nicely too

and does UV mapping of course too

I use Iclone Pro 5.5 with the 3D exchange pipeline tool to retarget iclone created motion to genesis and poser native rig via 3D Exchange 3D exchange will import BVH rigs from outside sources(such as poser) or FBX rigs from MAX,,Maya etc. Ultimately All of my Character animations are rendered in Maxon Cinema4D Via Obj /MDD( For genesis) and BVH ( for poser via interposer pro for C4D). Understand however that 3DXchange is designed to quickly retarget "Imotion" files created within Iclone itself to rigs imported from other applications and all of the really useful Character motion generation tools and the vast Character motion library presets are in Iclone Do not be put off by the low poly, native Iclone figures they are game res so you can easily get realtime, viewport feedback when creating complex character motion with the incredible tools of Iclone. However the true power is being able to RETARGET that motion from those low poly Iclone people to hi quality figures Like genesis or other application native rigs ( MAX Maya etc)via FBX or BVH through 3D exchange.

yes i know keymate, nothing wrong with it better as basic timeline. the main problem remains the unworkable Ikinematics of main studio.

for the animation problem i can start use nukeygara akeytsu and quick set good ik to the mesh rig, very promising for animation until daz come up with straight solution in the main studio program.
the problem is, that you first need to take the fbx (re rigged) true 3dxchange to make the rig back useable for in dazstudio.

huh,  how can i fix a rig setup...,  with a uv mapping tool?

  • I thought you mostly wanted to get DAZ stuff into other software, it will do that

things like directX and ogre as well as many others, I cannot give a commercial link but you can Google it

retargetting ikinema is used by some, I myself use 3Dxchange as I use iClone

Thats one comprehesive import export list

incidently I mostly use it myself for UV mapping and polyreducing

it will polyreduce rigged animated FBX files

but have stuck my Skyrim figures into Carrara fixed the bone hierarchy and then retargetted and animated them in iClone

opened the odd freebie C4D rigged figure in it too and exported as FBX to Carrara etc

but where talking about animation now, not uvmapping

  • DAZ has recently been posting new short aniMate 2 video tutorials on YouTube which are, I think, a little easier to follow compared to the old GoFigure tutes, which weren't bad. If you have keyMate, graphMate, and aniMate 2, along with Puppeteer, you have some pretty good tools. Build a bunch of reusable motions and you can do a lot in a very quick period of time stacking them where you want them in aniMate 2. I found a European tute which does a very good job of showing what can be done with the existing tools (I can't understand the language but it's pretty obvious watching it), and specifically using reusable motions and stacking them in layers. mcCasual's scripts can help with some problems as Wendy mentioned, but you can also use nulls to correct for some issues very quickly with minimum effort as shown in one of the new tutes.

it's called trolling :p  for uv's we use 3dcoat or modo so not need a uvmapper

trying a pipeline between akeytsu animator and dazstudio and may be i need 3dxchange

Yes Iclone can create excellent animation and supports Daz genesis directly to transfer the motion to genesis to render back in Studio.

thx for reply, seems the 3dxchange is good for fbx between other platforms...
until daz come up with it's own alternative for support genesis platform  in all other main 3d soft.

    another question,

you can create spx (spring effects) to bones in 3dxchange after import in iclone at springeffect to it for movement.
    like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8Mmn4M93nE
now if you with your bvh motion from iclone true 3dxchange and back to studio, will this spring effect movement still be added to the meshrig or lost?

    should export I assume

You were also talking about getting the model from one softeware to another - and that's where UU3D is helpful as converter.
