I can't get anything to work
I'm not new, I've used Daz many times to mock up scenes for various paintings. But I'm at a complete loss.
All I am trying to do is put the dang morphing business suit on a male model. All i need is a guy in a suit and tie with a hat. I have the MBS and expansions. I have Genesis male, starter essentials.
I cannot get the MBS to work at all in the newest version of DAZ. It says the DSF file is missing for whatever element I try to use (Data:///shirt.dsf file is missing). NO, it's right there. I can pull it up in my files.
For the life of me, I cannot get a single element of the morphing business suit to work. I even downloaded and installed Daz v3.1 to see if that helped, but Genesis male won't load in it.
I am working with an old file transfered from an older computer, but i am working with both the studio files but as well started out by installed the MBS.exe files. It simply won't work.
what do I do?

Are you using Smart Content or Content Manager for this? There were some errors in 4.9 that they fixed with the new Beta, one of them sounds like your missing files error when Smart Content is used.
I ran the EXE files for the Morphing Business Suit (and extentions) which put the files in the various DAZ folders in WINDOWS, where I can easily find all the various MBS files. In the Content Manager tab of Daz 4.9 (which I downloaded just a few days ago so I presume it is the newest version), The MBS files do not show up. See Pic: the "sicklemar" highlighted contains all the MBS files; this folder does not and will not show up in my content manager. I have tried Import Mapped Directories, as suggested elsewhere, nothing changes.
If I drag and drop a file, say the SHIRT DSF file onto a character, it just gies me an error message.
This might be part of your problem — DAZ content hasn't used .exe installers for quite a while. Is there anything preventing you from simply re-downloading the new .zip installers (which might not have files in the same place as in the original .exe installers) from your Product Library page? There might be other differences between the actual old and new content files that downloading the new installers would fix. It's definitely easier to find and fix content problems using the .zip installers.
That is likely your problem. Older versions created .dsf files for the morphs (basiucally, a cahe of sorts). These are in your My DAZ 3D Library directory, under data. Look for folders with names like 3_0, 4_0, 4_0_2, etc. and copy those over if you still have access to the old system.
I found the morphs folder, there are tons of dsf files for various parameters for each element (shirt, pants, jacket, etc) but they are titled things like "lie flat" etc. not numbers.
There are showing up in my installed daz content in windows, still not visible inside daz. Where should I copy to?
Is the folder you installed them to "known" to DAZ Studio? Unless you installed it in the default directory, DS will not be able to find them.
You can try copying them to the same equivalent path on the new system. But try BeeMKay's suggestion first.
ok, thanks for all your help.
UPDATE:
i found another .exe copy set for the MSB and expansion files. installing this set caused it to work, however I still have to drag and drop from Windows files into the Daz workspace as the files still do not show up in my in-program Daz content. No big deal though.
However, I'm still not able to use the material files to change color or textures. The morphs work fine in the program (tuck in shirt, open jack, blown back, etc). How do I apply the material variations? I have the materials files.
Hopefully I'm pretty close to being able to build the scene I'm working towards.
Thanks.
Okay... I did a bit of research, and this is a M4 suit, correct?
The entire suit is located under Poser Formats, as you probably already have figured out yourself. The material for DS usually shows up under Pose, when it's "old" content for M4 etc., which is why it's extremely important to map the folder where you have stored your stuff in both the DS format and the POser Format in the Content Directory manager.
If you haven't already, go to Edit--> Preferences --> Content LIbrary --> Content Library Manager, and add the folder similarly to what you can see in the picture in my previous post (just with your folder names there).
In that case, the materials for it will be found under "Poses" in the M4Buisiness_Suit folder. Select the item, like Jacket, and apply the material.
