Running in High Heels

Here's a question that I'm sure a lot of you will have fun with. I like the latest product from Val3DArt but it got me wondering...I see so many fantasy/fighting fantasy outfits with high heels and I realize that its a particular look but...has any of you ever really ran and leaped around in high heels...let along fight in them?
Costume practicality is almost always thrown out the window when doing this stuff...but I'm just curious. The only dude I knew that could run (and maybe even play basketball) in some high heels was the late Prince.

I used to do it all the time. Run, hop around, climb over boulders in a stream, etc. I have tight achilles tendons, so wearing heels is actually a relief for me. Ask me to run in flats and you will get a laugh.
Being a guy I really can't say for sure, but I would think running, walking, hopping, etc. would all be done using the ball of your feet, not the heel ie: on your toes.
I know when I run, and especially when I'm pushing for speed, my heels never touch the ground.
May be worth finding the old Lassie TV series with June Lockhart. I saw a lot of those reruns in the 1980s (since it was one of my mother's favorite TV shows ever), and the one thing which stuck most in my mind is my mother's many comments on how a woman could run around on a farm wearing heels.
Watching TV as research - nice concept ;-)
I'm amazed this was not a feature of Baywatch ... ;)

And here I thought I was just having deja vu :/
Ever been to a strip club? I have seen women wearing stilettos do some pretty amazing things in them, even running.
It's pretty much only the balls of my feet that touch the ground when I'm running too, but heels are more free to get caught on stuff as you run while they're not in contact with the ground. Edges of rugs, trailing vines, deadly serpent's tails... that kind of thing :)
There was a scene in Jackie Chans Armour of God (I think that's it, it was a long time ago). Four women wearing heels take him on. I've never seen anything that acrobatic in heels before or since. I have also never seen so many attempts to kick a man in the crotch in such a short space of time!
When I wore them regularly, it wasn't an issue. You run on your toes really. Now, if you haven't worn them in 10 years and put on a pair it's another story entirely...
Yeah, if you haven't been on that bicycle for years it's a bit wobbly at first.....
It was a two-fer: if the toe doesn't get him, there's still a chance that the five-inch stiletto heel might...!
....and there's eight of each all up....!
The armor spiked heels don't bother me nearly as much as the Scout-type outfits, especially when the promos show them in the woods. You do not want to walk through the woods, or on any soft ground, with stilettos on! You want as much ground contact as possible, for the same reason that tracked vehicles are designed with the widest practical tracks.
And here I thought that the whole purpose of 3D was realism...
This (even if spike heels on armors also annoy me)
Lol at least that would be original!
In an urban environment with usually a solid base under your feet, it's easy to run in heels. Used to do it all the time when I had to dress professionally downtown. Run to make a crossing light, catch my train, etc.
Hubby wanted to go for a romantic evening walk in a park after a dinner date a couple of months ago. Now that was a nightmare in spiked heels, especially now that I rarely wear them. "Hang on, I'm stuck in the ground here... again..."
I actually saw some kids skating on grass, their in-lines had balls instead of wheels. (with ridges for cornering) It looked like fun!
Have a look at Kate Beckinsale in the Underworld movies or any Prince concert from the 80's or 90's and you will see that for the dedicated, heels offer no hindrance whatsoever.
Find this episode of the X-files - there's a hilarious scene that has Gillian Anderson running back and forth in the FBI Issue Heels, to show Tea Leoni how to do it,.. all while the audience is engaged in the foreground discussion between David Duchoveny and Gary Shandling.

Add me to the numbers who run on thier toes - I've always done it, more a floaty stride then a pavement pounding one, which is a little gentler on the bits that jiggle for me.
